Arc Raiders Unexpected Initiative Quest Guide

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 07:32

The Unexpected Initiative quest in Arc Raiders sends you to the Buried City map in search of Fertilizer and a Water Pump. You'll need to visit two separate--though thankfully close by--locations to interact with and loot these items, so you may be here wanting to know precisely where. You're in luck because we're going to fill you in.

Note that the game will provide both Fertilizer and a Water Pump to you as part of this quest, but you can also find these in other places and turn them in from your own stash if you prefer. However, since the quest has to be done in a single Buried City raid to count, you do still have to visit both locations and loot them to check off the objectives either way. Either way, it's a good idea to bring in an augment with two safe pockets so that you keep both the Fertilizer and Water Pump you find, even if you don't manage to extract safely.

Let's dive into where to find the Fertilizer and Water Pump for the Unexpected Initiatives quest.

CoD: Black Ops 7's Endgame Is Getting Massive Boss Fights For Season 1

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 07:27

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is live now, and the game is packaged with a cooperative story and a new Endgame mode, which serves as an open-world epilogue to the campaign. Activision gave GameSpot a very brief teaser of Season 1 content coming to Black Ops 7's campaign endgame. This includes a limited-time mode for Endgame, and while we don't have any major details, we can say some very massive fights will be taking place across the campaign's Avalon map.

We weren't able to capture the footage being shared with us, but the video showed players fighting a giant robot across Avalon in Black Ops 7's endgame. Activision also told us that players can get inside the robot, so it seems this is something you can hijack and take control of for your own use.

The zombie T-Rex featured as the boss fight in Black Ops 6's Shattered Veil map will also become a boss encounter on Avalon. The strategy for fighting this version of the T-Rex boss looks similar to doing so in Zombies mode, with players launching themselves onto its back to deal major melee damage.

Concord Lives Again As Fan-Made Project Unveils Gameplay Test Videos

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 06:12

The story of Concord is a cautionary tale in the age of live-service games. Years of development and millions of dollars went into the game, only for it to fail at launch and get canceled by Sony weeks later. However, Conord had some fans, and a trio of them worked very hard to bring the game back to life on a server.

As reported by The Game Post, Concord's partial resurrection is due to reverse engineering by a user called Red, a rebuild of the game's backend API by open_wizard, and an additional assist from a programmer called gwog. The team shared a pair of a gameplay videos to demonstrate their achievement, but noted that Concord is still somewhat buggy.

The trio successfully tested their ability to load the game, pick their characters, and run a full Clash Point match.

Fortnite Creative May Be Going Pay-To-Win Soon

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 05:15

Epic Games is gearing up for its biggest shake-up to Fortnite Creative since the introduction of the Unreal Editor for Fortnite. Soon, Epic will allow developers who use UEFN to make Fortnite Creative modes, or "islands," to sell in-game items using V-Bucks, the game's real-money currency.

The news, which Epic announced during the Veteran's Day holiday in the US, was not met with much excitement from fans. The way the Fortnite Creative ecosystem is currently crammed with clones of tycoon, boxfight, and platforming islands, it's easy to see how adding microtransactions to any of the typical island types could be a bad thing. And it becomes much more difficult to see any possible upside when Epic's example idea is to sell people a better shovel for 300 V-Bucks.

Fortnite will allow UEFN developers to sell gameplay items for money soon.

But the reality is actually pretty murky, because V-Buck transactions are a wildcard that could completely shake up the Fortnite Creative ecosystem and encourage creators to try new things. We've got a digital Wild West here, in a sense. Let's try to understand the situation a little better, and get a better sense of where it may lead us, by taking a deep dive into the details.

Nintendo Says It's Not Prohibiting Third-Party Switch 2 Docks After Players Report Bricking Issues

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 05:14

While the latest firmware update for Switch and Switch 2 included several quality-of-life improvements, one consequence appears to be that many third-party docks have been rendered useless. According to Nintendo itself, such a consequence was unintentional.

In a statement, Nintendo spelled out the obvious, saying: "Nintendo Switch 2 outputs audiovisuals once it detects that it is docked into a Nintendo Switch 2 Dock. Nintendo Switch does the same, outputting audiovisuals once it detects that it is docked into a Nintendo Switch Dock."

More importantly, the company claimed that it "does not have any intention to hinder or invalidate legal third-party dock compatibility." It is unclear what Nintendo considers to be a "legal" dock.

Black Ops 7 Developers Used AI Tools, But Creative Process Is Led By Humans, Activision Says

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 05:04

Activision has once again confirmed that AI tools were used in the development of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which is in keeping with tradition for the franchise, as Black Ops 6 utilized AI tools as well. In a statement, Activision said the creative process is handled by humans, with AI tools helping out. Back in August, Activision explained that developers working on Black Ops 7 used generative AI, but "none of that goes in-game."

"Like so many around the world, we use a variety of digital tools, including AI tools, to empower and support our teams to create the best gaming experiences possible for our players. Our creative process continues to be led by the talented individuals in our studios," the company said.

Black Ops 7 launched today, November 14, and people quickly noticed that a number of Calling Cards that appear to use the "Ghibli-style" anime look, with people theorizing that Activision used AI to create these images.

The Witcher 3 Almost Left Out This Important Romance Feature

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 04:59

Anyone who plays through The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is invited to make a choice between the two great loves of Geralt of Rivia: Yennefer of Vengerberg or Triss Merigold. That decision even informs the game's farewell to Geralt. However, CD Projekt Red has recently disclosed that players didn't always get to choose between Geralt's lovers.

CD Projekt Red co-CEO Adam Badowski told PC Gamer that the option to romance Triss was added late in the game. Until then, the team had been focusing on Geralt's relationship with Yennefer. But adding Triss back into Geralt's heart gave the game more personality .

"[The romance with Triss] wasn't [there] from the beginning," recalled Badowski. "But at some point we understood that this lack of conflict, personal conflict... There was a lack of something... This decision was made pretty late, but it was great. It was a great decision."

Sims-Like Paralives Release Delayed At Last Minute To 2026

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 04:11

A few weeks before it was slated to hit early access, the Sims-like life sim Paralives has been delayed to May 2026 so that the developer can address some "impactful bugs" and add more activities to the game.

Developed by Alex Massé over the course of six years, Paralives is a life sim about building homes, lives, and bonds. You get to create a character, design a house, customize the furniture, and more as you interact with citizens and live out a cozy life in an open-world town. Not unlike The Sims, there's plenty to do: garden, fish, work, swim, raise children, discover personality traits, and more. Unfortunately, while it was planned to launch in early access on December 8, Massé posted on the game's official Steam Store page that Paralives' release has been delayed to May 25, 2026.

"We had to make the difficult decision to delay the release," Massé said. "We are truly sorry for the last-minute announcement. After thoughtful consideration, we feel it’s best for the game and the community. This year, we ran many playtests with friends and fans, and we were confident that we could improve the game enough in time for December. In the lead-up to Early Access release, we broadened our playtests with a more varied playerbase, and the latest feedback we received made us realise the game isn’t up to the standard we wanted it to meet for release. Players enjoy the flexibility and the customization of the Paramaker and Build Mode."

Microsoft Is Making It Easier For New Devs To Make Xbox Games

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 03:41

If you've ever wanted to publish a game on an Xbox console, Microsoft is providing a way to make that a lot easier. The company is now publicly sharing the Xbox Game Publishing Guide for all developers and publishers who want to bring their titles to the Xbox ecosystem.

The Xbox Game Publishing Guide is already online, and even ordinary players can take a look at the document for added insight into the development process. This move appears to be geared towards attracting independent game developers who would ordinarily focus on making a PC game. However, Microsoft notes that seasoned publishers are invited to take advantage of the guide. It covers everything from pre-production to release.

According to Microsoft, the decision to share this resource is part of new imitative to make sure "every developer has the information they need to bring their game to Xbox." Full Black Ops 7 Campaign Missions List And Hours To Beat

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 03:40

If you're wondering how long it takes to beat Black Ops 7's campaign, we have you covered with this mission guide. The game includes a full co-op campaign and mission collectibles to hunt down. Below, we'll break down the mission list and give you all the details you need before jumping into the Black Ops 7 campaign.

How long is Black Ops 7 - Campaign length and missions

Black Ops 7 has a total of 11 campaign missions. This is designed as a co-op campaign for up to four players, but it can be experienced solo, as well. This cooperative design has removed Call of Duty's feature of allowing you to choose the difficulty you play the campaign. Instead, difficulty scales based on how many players are in your party. However, playing solo isn't necessarily the easier route, and it might take a bit longer to complete alone.

On average, it should take you around 5 hours to complete the campaign in co-op, but it might take closer to 6 hours as a solo experience. If you're hunting down the campaign's mission intel, then it will likely take longer to complete.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Extended Trailer Reveals Samus' Allies And Abilities

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 02:49

It's a been a long wait for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but the return of bounty hunter Samus Aran is just a few weeks away. Now, Nintendo has dropped an extended trailer for Metroid Prime 4 that sets up the story, shows off her new powers, and reveals that she does have allies on the planet Viewros. What she doesn't have is a way to get off the hostile world that's trying to kill her.

In the opening minutes of the trailer, Samus answers a distress call from a Galactic Federation research center that comes under attack by her rival, Sylux. During the battle, Samus is somehow transported to an unknown and hostile world called Viewros. And some of the Galactic Federation troops survived to make the trip as well. But without a ship, this may be a one-way journey for Samus and her allies.

Samus' standard abilities are back in this game, and she picks up a few new skills including psychic powers that can direct her shots with precision or operate the long-abandoned machinery on Viewros. GameSpot recently had a chance to try out those psychic powers during a hands-on experience with Metroid Prime 4.

Asked if Aloy, or other well-known Horizon characters, are in Horizon Steel Frontiers, Lee said, "We haven't finalized whether characters from the original game will appear, so it's too early to share any specific plans."

Fans Refuse To Let Mario Kart DS Cross The Finish Line

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 02:00

Mario Kart DS is celebrating its 20-year anniversary today, November 14, 2025. Below, we examine how the fan community has kept the game alive, and online, long after official servers were retired.

When Mario Kart DS launched in 2005, it felt like a glimpse into the future. For the first time, Nintendo’s chaotic, shell-filled racer could be played online, pitting players from around the world against each other in real-time competition. It was a leap few handheld games had dared to make at the time.

Two decades later, the official Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection servers that powered those matchups are long gone, but the race never really stopped. Through fan-built tools, open-source servers, and emulation projects, Mario Kart DS remains alive and well--still spinning its wheels in the hands of a dedicated community that refuses to let it drift into the past.

You Can't Pause The Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Campaign, So You Better Hold It In

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 01:52

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is now out, and while this new entry in the long-running franchise doesn't stray far from its traditional action-packed gameplay in the single-player campaign, there is one big difference here: You can't pause the game.

The always-online campaign doesn't allow players to take a quick break during a firefight, as the game continues with or without you. This means you'll need to find a safe place to camp out in case you need to take a breather away from your screen--unless you want to become a standing target for enemies--but the game is pretty forgiving with deaths.

"I never found myself having to replay too much of a mission if I had to take a break midway through or I reached a challenging section where I died a lot," Summer Doster explained in GameSpot's Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 single-player campaign review.

Horizon Franchise Was Created With Multiplayer In Mind, Says Guerrilla Games Boss

Game News - Sat, 11/15/2025 - 01:49

Starting with Horizon Zero Dawn and followed up with Horizon Forbidden West, the PlayStation franchise has seen players following protagonist Aloy on a single-player adventure. With the recent reveal of Horizon Steel Frontiers, the focus changes from a solo affair to an MMO. But Guerrilla Games studio director Jan-Bart van Beek has stated the series started with multiplayer in mind.

Lego Horizon Adventures was apparently Guerilla dipping its toes in the water with multiplayer, according to van Beek on X. But going forward, the studio will focus more on this social aspect. "From the first moment we imagined Horizon, we always thought about it as a multiplayer game," wrote van Beek. "Lego Horizon Adventures was our first small step, with Steel Frontiers we're taking a bigger one. There is much more to come, and we're excited to show you what is coming."

From the first moment we imagined Horizon, we always thought about it as a multiplayer game.

— Jan-Bart van Beek (@janbartvanbeek) November 14, 2025

Interestingly, Horizon Steel Frontiers is only coming to PC and mobile so far--not PS5. That would be a first for the franchise, as even the spin-off Horizon Call of the Mountain was released for PlayStation VR 2. The MMO looks a bit inspired by the Monster Hunter series and will feature large-scale raids. Meanwhile, Sony has filed a lawsuit against Tencent over Light of Motiram, arguing the game is a "slavish clone" of Horizon.
