Mario Kart World Has Smart Steering On By Default, But It's Easy To Toggle Off
The Switch 2 and its launch titles are available now, including Mario Kart World. Players have discovered that, like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch, Mario Kart World has smart steering turned on by default. Smart steering is an auto-pilot function, of sorts, helping players literally stay on track.
It's a helpful feature for those who want it, but it's not for everyone. Thankfully, it's easy to toggle off. You can toggle it off by pressing X during the vehicle-selection screen, or it can be turned off from the pause menu mid-race.
Mario Kart World also has auto-accelerate, auto-use item, and tilt controls, but these are not toggled on by default. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe worked this way as well, so this is nothing new or surprising.

Now that the Nintendo Switch 2 and its initial wave of accessories have made it into fans' hands, players have been surprised to discover that Nintendo's GameCube controller for the Switch 2 supports gyro controls.
The new controller, available exclusively through Nintendo Switch Online and at select physical Nintendo stores, looks almost exactly like an original GameCube controller but features some key upgrades. The original c-stick doubles as the Switch 2's new C-button, which will open GameChat, and the internals have been re-arranged for a more responsive d-pad, according to a parts breakdown on Reddit.
The most surprising new addition is the gyroscope, which wasn't mentioned by Nintendo in the lead-up to the Switch 2's release. Surprised fans instead discovered the added functionality themselves upon unboxing the new controller--such as Japanese Splatoon content creator Sashibu, who posted to X about the new option to play Splatoon with a GameCube controller.

Continue Reading at GameSpotPSA: Switch 2 Games Don't Support Nintendo's Game-Voucher Program
Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are a handy way to get a neat little discount on select digital Switch games, giving Nintendo Switch Online members the option to purchase two games for just $100. Now that the Switch 2 is out, Nintendo has specified that these vouchers can't be redeemed for Switch 2 exclusives--though they can still be used on the new console for original Switch games.
In the Switch 2 eShop, the game-vouchers section includes a warning note saying, "Vouchers cannot be redeemed for Nintendo Switch 2 games." The web version of this page also specifies that vouchers are for the original Switch system (including Lite and OLED model) and "cannot be redeemed for games exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2."
The vouchers still can be used on the Switch 2, but they can only be used to purchase Switch 1 titles. In the case of games that have a paid Switch 2 enhanced edition, vouchers will presumably only purchase the Switch 1 edition of the game, which can then be upgraded with an additional fee. With most of the Switch 2 enhanced upgrades going for $10, you could still save yourself some money using game vouchers to purchase upgraded titles like Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild.

Black Myth: Wukong, one of 2024's best-selling games worldwide, is finally headed to Xbox after a year of exclusivity on PlayStation. The game is coming to Xbox Series X|S on August 20, with preorders opening on June 18.
The game originally released on PS5 and PC on August 20, 2024, meaning it's coming to Xbox Series X|S precisely one year later. This is fueling the theory that Sony did, in fact, have a one-year exclusivity deal with developer Game Science.
Some had claimed that technical issues with the Xbox Series S prompted a delay for the Xbox version, but Microsoft maintained this was not true (despite the fact that some titles have in the past run into issues with the lower-spec version of the newest Xbox).

How To Set Up GameShare On Switch 2 - Full GameShare List
Sometimes, not every person in a friend group owns the game that everyone wants to play together. It's a sad situation that leads to either money being spent or someone being left out. The Nintendo Switch 2 GameShare feature allows everyone to be included, whether they own the game being played or not. This is what you need to know about GameShare on the Nintendo Switch 2, including a full list of all GameShare-compatible games.
Table of Contents [hide]How to set up GameShareFirst, the player who owns the game needs to look for the GameShare option inside the game itself, not on the Nintendo Switch home screen. Once the process is started, players who don't own the game can press the GameShare icon found at the bottom of the home screen to join GameShare. From there, choose whether the session is local or long-distance through GameChat.
As the player who is joining, choose whether the GameShare is local or through GameChat.Players in local GameShare sessions can connect simply by selecting the A Local User option, but long-distance GameShare sessions need to be joined through GameChat. So, all players need to set up GameChat before either sharing or receiving a game long-distance. Sharing a game long-distance allows all players to play together for as long as the GameChat session lasts.

Dune: Awakening has finally launched, and even after a lengthy development cycle and a variety of alphas and betas, the PC performance isn't where many players would like it to be. Even if you have a top-of-the-line machine with modern hardware that costs an arm and a leg, you're likely seeing FPS dips, stuttering, and crashes while playing on PC.
While there's not much you can do about the crashes aside from updating your drivers, you can mitigate the stutters and improve your overall FPS by adjusting specific graphics settings. To see what those settings are in Dune: Awakening, check out the guide below.
Best PC settings for Dune: AwakeningFirst and foremost, before you attempt to play Dune: Awakening on PC, you want to ensure that you at least meet the minimum requirements outlined by the developers. If one or more of your PC parts don't meet those requirements, you're going to have an incredibly difficult time on Arrakis, if you can even get the game to boot at all.

How To Set Up GameChat On Switch 2
Nintendo has lagged behind with certain social features for some time, but it's looking to make improvements with big changes on the Nintendo Switch 2. The new console has a whole new way for players to communicate with friends while playing games. Here's what you need to know about GameChat on Nintendo Switch 2.
How to set up GameChat on Switch 2A new orange GameChat icon is now at the bottom of the home screen. Press that--or the brand-new C button located on the right Joy-Con or Pro Controller--to access the GameChat features. Keep in mind that, normally, you need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to use GameChat. For now, though, Nintendo is allowing all players to use GameChat in an open-access period until March 31, 2026. That does mean, if you don't subscribe, you'll be left with a button that does nothing.
The GameChat user agreement will pop up the first time you set up. You need to consent to the terms to use the features, but you can withdraw consent whenever you want by re-entering the GameChat settings menu. You also need to provide a phone number and confirm it via text message.

Along with new releases like Mario Kart World, a bunch of exciting games are on the way, including Donkey Kong Bananza to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. But the arrival of the Switch 2 also presents a nice opportunity to revisit or play some of the best games from the Switch era for the first time. More than a dozen Switch games have received free performance and/or feature updates for Switch 2. If you're looking to pick up any of these Switch games for the first time, we've put together a list of where to buy all of them.
Switch Games with Free Switch 2 Upgrades
You can save $10 or more on a bunch of them.
See at AmazonMany of the updated games now play in higher resolutions on Switch 2, and some also offer improved frame rates and HDR support. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, for instance, genuinely looks like a different game at 1080p and 60fps. Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, and a few other great Mario platformers have also received free performance upgrades. Some of upgraded Switch games, such as Mario spin-off puzzle game Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Clubhouse Games, now support the Switch 2's new GameChat feature.
Nintendo still sells all of the Switch games in the list below for original MSRP on the eShop, which means you can often around 10 bucks by opting for physical copies. It's worth noting that Walmart and Amazon often have numerous store pages for each game, including imports from Europe and other regions. The Switch and Switch 2 are region-free consoles, so you can play physical copies released in other markets. We've made note of the imported editions below.

The Nintendo Switch 2 does have internal storage, but you'll likely want to use an SD card, especially if you're transferring a bunch of games from an original Nintendo Switch. Here's what you need to know about moving games to an SD card on the Switch 2.

World Of Tanks Studio Seized By Russia, Accused Of Supporting Ukraine
World of Tanks lets players engage in simulated war battles, but the real war between Russia and Ukraine has led to Lesta Games--the Russian studio behind the game--facing charges that it illegally funneled money from its title to Ukraine.
The original developer of World of Tanks is WargamingUnited, a company that withdrew from Russia and Belarus directly because of Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Wargaming has also raised money in support of Ukraine, which would be a crime under current Russian law. Lesta Games--which took over the local Russian rights for World of Tanks--has repeatedly stressed that it has no relationship with Wargaming. That wasn't enough to prevent Russia from seizing control of Lesta Games.
As reported by PC Gamer, Moscow has frozen all assets that belong to Lesta Games, and accused the company's co-founder, Malik Khatazhaev, of being part of an "extremist group" under the control of Wargaming CEO Viktor Kisly. The evidence cited in court reportedly drew upon footage of Wargaming's support for Ukraine.

One of the biggest additions to the Nintendo Switch 2 is the inclusion of HDR support. The Switch 2's LCD supports it and, more importantly, so does the dock, letting you enjoy supported games with increased color volume and brighter highlights on an HDR-supported display. But there's a setting you should probably change to get the best out of it.
Like the PlayStation 5, the Nintendo Switch 2 allows you to force HDR on for all facets of the console, from the Home Menu to all of the games you launch from it, whether they support it or not. This can have adverse effects on the look of some games, and especially so if you're connecting the Switch 2 to a display with poor or nonexistent HDR support.
Navigating to the Settings menu, heading down to Display, and toggling HDR Output from "Always Enabled" to "Compatible Software Only" will ensure that the Switch 2 only activates HDR when playing games that support it, leaving those that don't in their standard SDR format.

The Switch 2 is out today, and immediately someone has smashed it with a hammer. In the video below from YouTube account TechRex, we see the host perform an extreme durability test on the console, culminating in a test that the Switch 2 was never going to survive.
The test begins with a simple drop test, where the Switch 2 is dropped from a tabletop height. As you can see in the video, the Switch 2 survives multiple five-foot drops with no issues, at least in this specific test environment. The video also has the host slashing the Switch 2's screen with a box cutter trying to snap off the Joy-Cons improperly, and attempting to apply force to break the kickstand.
Finally, the host drops a hammer on the screen and then smashes it with a lot more force. It's painful to type these words and even more painful to watch the video, but alas, here it is for your own enjoyment or punishment.
