Dying Light: The Beast Smashes Through The Zombie Horde In August

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 08:12

A release date for Dying Light: The Beast was officially revealed during Summer Game Fest 2025, and this new chapter in Techland's open-world zombie series will arrive on August 22 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The standalone adventure sees the return of Kyle Crane, Dying Light's original protagonist, and is set in the rural location of Castor Woods. After escaping from a decade in captivity and the horrific experiments performed on him by the Baron, Crane makes his way to the once-bustling tourist destination in search of vengeance and finds it overrun with zombies.

Like previous games, the infected people stalking the streets during the day will be the least of your worries, because once the sun sets, the worst of the zombie horde comes out to play. Fortunately, Crane has parkour skills and an off-road vehicle to help him outrun enemies, and when push comes to shove, the zombie DNA in his blood gives him an edge in combat.

Shovel Knight Dev's Mina The Hollower Launches On Halloween, Demo Out Now

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 08:08

Today, during Summer Game Fest Live with Geoff Keighley, Yacht Club Games announced that Mina The Hollower, its first new in-house IP since introducing Shovel Knight to the world in 2019, will launch on Halloween--and there's a free limited-time demo available on Steam right now.

Mina The Hollower is an action-adventure game made in the style of Game Boy Color-era games like The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages. Players control the titular Mina, a mouse who's handy with a whip, as she travels through a spooky island in an attempt to save it from a dreadful curse.

The demo was released on Steam in conjunction with the release-date announcement, and it is part of the annual Steam Next Fest celebration, which ends on June 16th. The demo contains the game's opening stage and first major boss fight, and all progress made in the demo will carry over to the main game when it launches in the fall.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 Announced With Jeff Goldblum, Devs Used Generative AI

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 08:04

As part of Summer Game Fest, Frontier Developments announced the next Jurassic World Evolution game. Jurassic World Evolution 3 is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 21, 2025, and like the games that came before it, players will manage dinosaur species and the park experience for guests.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 has more than 80 dinosaur species, and players will be able to breed and nurture them "across entire generations." That's right: We're getting baby dinos.

"Rear them from playful juveniles into awe-inspiring adults, each with distinct female, male, and juvenile variants," the developer said.

Mafia: The Old Country Trailer Emphasizes Loyalty To "The Family"

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 07:58

Ahead of its launch in August, a new trailer for Mafia: The Old Country debuted at Summer Game Fest 2025. Teased earlier this week, the new look at the game showed off protagonist Enzo Favara in a spot of trouble as he braced himself for some violence at his door.

The trailer is titled "Loyalty is Everything," and it focuses on the importance of "family" (in the organized crime sense, of course) to Favara's fortunes. While centered on cinematics and storytelling, the trailer gives a sense of what it's like in Sicily in the early 20th century. The narrative overview we get suggests that Favara will have to navigate betrayal, retribution, and extortion in pursuit of wealth. It also emphasizes the extensive and brutal process of joining the Torrisi crime family, and how the connections between "family" members can go sour if trust is undermined.

Mafia: The Old Country is looking to be a budget-friendly dive back into the franchise, as developer Hangar 13 is aiming to deliver a "linear highly-polished narrative experience" that doesn't require significant time commitments. Because of this direction, the game is priced at $50 for its standard edition, but there is a $60 Deluxe Edition that bundles in bonus items, like special guns, outfits, and accessories.

Serenity Forge's Newest Game Looks Like "Doki Doki Literature Club Meets Silent Hill"

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 07:57

At the 2025 Summer Game Fest, Serenity Forge brought back the spirit of Doki Doki Literature Club in its upcoming psychological life sim, Fractured Blooms. Like the studio's popular visual novel, it features cozy themes like home-building and cooking that could be straight out of Stardew Valley, but turns into something more sinister with contorted footage and lots of blood.

You play as Angie, a girl participating in what seems like an innocent home-renovation project. She's actually stuck in a time loop with a dark end and forced to live through the same day over and over. In Fractured Blooms, you prioritize your most important tasks to make the most out of your loop while solving the mystery about your haunted home. That involves gardening, cooking, and other tasks that help fix up the house and take care of its inhabitants. Small differences appear in each cycle. You'll start to remember details, but so will the cycle, apparently.

Even Geoff Keighley wouldn't eat these tomatoes.

Right now, it's unclear if the story takes a turn for the worse. We only have the trailer to go on, which showcases a road of reddening grass, plumes of miasma, and who knows what as the vibe goes from cozy to gory. Fractured Blooms also features a personal story behind the madness, but Serenity Forge has yet to reveal the details behind Angie's life and friends.

Out of Words Is A Charming And Colorful Co-Op Stop-Motion Adventure

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 07:51

Epic Games Publishing announced Wiredfly and Kong Orange's Out of Words during Summer Game Fest, a co-op side-scrolling action-adventure game. The characters have lost their mouths--and the ability to speak--and must work together during their colorful journey as they engage with a variety of challenges. A distinguishing feature is that all of the characters and environments have been crafted and animated using traditional, physical stop-motion animation, with the trailer showing part of the creation process for characters.

The game is based on an original concept by Danish poet Morten Søndergaard. The two leads, Kurt and Karla, find themselves in the fantastical realm of Vokabulantis, where they must work together to overcome the various challenges in their way. While the two are described as "friends," there are hints that the game will see their relationship blossom in a more romantic way.

The game features both online and local co-op play. Despite the leads' wordless nature in-game, you'll need to communicate with your co-op partner in order to solve puzzles. Puzzles shown in the trailer include elements like shifting gravity and using a grappling device to traverse the side-scrolling landscapes.

Lego Voyagers Adorable Co-Op Adventure From Builder's Journey Dev

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 07:51

The studio behind Lego Builder's Journey debuted its next game at Summer Game Fest, and it's an adorable co-op adventure starring--you guessed it--a pair of little Lego bricks. The brief trailer showed a blooming friendship between blue and orange 1x1 bricks as they worked together to solve puzzling challenges.

The game is built around two-player co-op--locally, or you can invite your friends to play for free with a Friend's Pass. Like Builder's Journey, the narrative is delivered without words. The world looks entirely built out of bricks, so you can snap and join your way through obstacles together.

The art style looks very similar to Builder's Journey, with a similar isometric perspective through some segments. But the two also find themselves floating down-river, navigating highways and trains, and joining themselves with other bricks to carry them. They seem to be making their way towards a rocket through most of the trailer, which ends with them watching it take off.

Code Vein 2 Is A Sequel Crossing Space And Time

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 07:49

At Summer Game Fest 2025, Bandai Namco revealed a teaser for Code Vein 2, a sequel to its 2019 action-RPG that many described as an anime Dark Souls. This sequel has an updated aesthetic while still retaining anime character designs.

While its predecessor was set in a post-apocalyptic future, this one seems to have a dark and gothic medieval fantasy setting (some Bloodborne vibes, perhaps). But the twist appears to be that it will also be crossing different timelines.

According to the official Code Vein 2 Twitter, you'll still be playing as Revenants--vampiric immortals from the previous game--and the description of being "bound by blood" would suggest that the two main characters pictured are siblings. There's also going to be plenty of more formidable boss fights, though judging by your character's transformations, powerful abilities, and also being able to get around on a motorcycle, this could also be a more action-packed sequel while being less influenced by Souls-likes.

Creepy Action MMO Chrono Odyssey Gets New Trailer, Limited Playtest Later In June

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 07:48

Chrono Odyssey is an action-focused, open-world, multiplayer RPG with shades of Warframe. A new trailer dropped as part of Summer Game Fest, showing various players fighting eldritch monstrosities and ancient warriors. Players will be able to get their hands on the MMORPG later this month via a limited playtest on PC from June 20-22.

Chrono Odyssey was first announced back in 2020. The game gets its name from the protagonists' time-manipulation abilities and their travel into the past to combat an eldritch invading force called The Void. The trailer depicts player-characters freezing enemies in place, allowing them to attack them without interference. Players will also be able to rewind time, gaining combat advantages or exploring older versions of areas in the game's open world. Those are not the only powers available; the trailers shows characters slashing with lightning-infused attacks and floating in the air a la Breath of the Wild's hang-glider.

Six classes will be available to play at launch. The trailer shows off a few of them, showcasing characters wielding small double axes, a wizard's staff, and a bow. The combat appears fast-paced, taking cues from action RPGs like Soulframe and Elden Ring. But Chrono Odyssey isn't medieval fantasy, exactly. Some portions of the trailer depict dungeons that look like spaceships from Alien or the wasted ruins of a horror game like Scorn. One boss, or what appears to be one, shoots out writhing, bloody tentacles.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion's She Hulk And Rocket Raccoon Revealed At Summer Game Fest

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 07:47

Dotemu's upcoming beat-'em-up, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, has revealed two popular comic book characters for its ever-growing roster. Fans will be able to play as Rocket Raccoon and She-Hulk, easily switching between the two as they shoot and smash their way through hordes of enemies. At least, that's the way it looks via a new trailer showcased during the Summer Game Fest 2025 show.

Joining the cast of 15 Marvel characters--alongside the likes of Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, and Storm--She-Hulk and Raccoon will offer their own brand of beatdown when facing Annihilus' forces. And considering Dotemu's work on Streets of Rage 4, one can only image the creative combos players will be able to come up with when playing as these heroes.

Unfortunately, we didn't get a release date for Marvel Cosmic Invasion. We know that some of Marvel's best are going to wage war with Annihilus as he pulls strings from the Negative Zone. We just don't know when it's all going down. That said, it's apparent that when the "annihilation wave" hits the fan, players will have enough firepower (and in She-Hulk's case, muscle) to win when the game is released on Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC later this year.

How To Import Game Save Data On Nintendo Switch 2

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 02:54

Importing Switch saves to Nintendo Switch 2 is something you should automatically be able to do when you first set the system up. However, if you skip the transfer or don't have your original Switch with you, there is another way. It just takes a bit longer.

Our guide for how to transfer save data to Switch 2 explains each step of the process.

How to import save data during Switch 2 setupSave data is included in your system transfer.

If you transfer your user data from the original Switch during the initial Switch 2 system transfer process, it imports your saves automatically. Once you have access to the main menu, you'll see your game library all queued up for download. You can cancel the downloads and prioritize what gets added to the system first, but whenever a game with save data associated with it finishes downloading, it'll have the latest save data from your user account with it.

A Lot Of People Are Playing Dune: Awakening--Despite Being In Premium Early Access

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 02:21

Dune: Awakening's official launch date is June 10, but if you're impatient to play the game, you can currently grab the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition to play early. Stats from Steam suggest that a lot of people can't wait for the full launch day and have taken that early access option: Well over 70,000 players are online in the game at the time of this writing, and concurrent players peaked at over 90,000 soon after the premium editions were made available.

According to SteamDB, Dune: Awakening is off to a remarkably hot start considering the premium charge that players currently must pay to get access. To put its player base into perspective, Dune: Awakening is currently sitting at 17th on the Steam concurrent player charts, sandwiched between chart mainstays War Thunder and Stardew Valley (Its 24-hour peak comes in at 15th on the charts).

It is quite unusual for games to do this well during windows of premium-only access, but Dune fans seem quite willing to shell out the extra money to access the multiplayer survival game. While the normal edition of the game costs $50, you need to pay $70 for the Deluxe Edition or $90 for the Ultimate Edition to jump in right now. In addition to getting access to the game in advance of its full release, purchases of the two premium editions also get a season pass to DLC and additional in-game items.

Amazon-Exclusive Steelbook For New John Wick Spin-Off Is Surprisingly Cheap

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 02:19
Preorder at Amazon Preorder at Walmart Preorder at Amazon

The world of John Wick has expanded with the theatrical release of Ballerina. This new spin-off, which hit theaters June 6, stars Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, a killer trained in deadly effective assassination techniques and hellbent on avenging the death of her father. Early reviews for the movie--which is set between John Wick 3 and 4--sound positive so far. And even though it just premiered, you can already preorder two different Limited Edition Steelbooks. Amazon and Walmart each have exclusive Steelbook Editions of Ballerina, and Amazon's is currently priced low compared to many recent 4K steelbooks.

You can check out both editions below, and if you want to pair your upcoming steelbook with similarly fancy versions of the mainline films, check out the Walmart-exclusive John Wick Chapters 1-3 Stash Book Collection for $50.

Ballerina Amazon-Exclusive Steelbook (4K, Blu-ray, Digital) $35

Amazon's Limited Edition Steelbook features de Armas on a neon-soaked cover that fits in very well with the general vibe and aesthetic of the John Wick movies. On the inside of the cover, there's a rave scene going on in the background and a stylized hammer that will probably be used for something brutal. It also comes with a slipcover featuring the same cover art, just with the title running across the bottom.

This 4K edition comes with a standard Blu-ray version of the film and a digital streaming code as well, and while special features have not yet been revealed, we are expecting to see several featurettes on how the bone-crunching action scenes were filmed, similar to the bonus materials included on John Wick Blu-ray releases.

Preorder at Amazon Ballerina Walmart-Exclusive Steelbook (4K, Blu-ray, Digital) $43

Walmart's exclusive Ballerina Steelbook also has cool cover art. This one has de Armas locked and loaded for combat on the cover, an antique Ballerina doll that has seen better days on the back, and a snapshot of an explosive scene from the film on the interior.

Just like with Amazon's, Walmart's Ballerina Steelbook includes 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and digital versions of the film. It also comes with a slipcover to protect the steelbook, but Walmart's is a clear plastic cover, whereas Amazon's appears to be a cardboard sleeve. Special features will almost certainly be the same across both limited-edition releases.

Preorder at Walmart Ballerina Standard Editions 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD

At the moment, it doesn't really make sense to opt for a standard edition, unless you despise steelbook cases for some reason.

That's because the standard edition 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD releases are pricey in comparison. We'd expect the 4K edition to eventually drop below Amazon's Steelbook, but keep in mind that the Steelbook could go up instead.

Preorder at Amazon John Wick Blu-ray Deals

Action movie fans can also grab the original quadrilogy of John Wick at a pretty great price right now, as there are bundle deals now on at Amazon and Walmart. The entire four-film collection starring Keanu Reeves is now $30 on Blu-ray (was $45), and each film in 4K is currently retailing for $15 on average.

Princess Peach And Toad Actor Says Nintendo Has Replaced Her After 18 Years

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 01:30

Samantha Kelly, who has voiced Princess Peach and Toad in Nintendo games for nearly two decades, is seemingly no longer going to play those parts going forward. Kelly announced today, June 6, that Nintendo is recasting Peach and Todd with other actors.

In a post on Instagram, Kelly thanked fans for "so many years of friendship and joy." Kelly said she is "sad that it's over," adding that she would have liked to voice Peach and Toad for her entire life. She said she was informed of the decision on June 5, the day the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World launched.

"Nintendo let me know yesterday that they decided to recast these roles. I'm grateful that I got to do these voices for so many years. Peach and Toad are such strong and beautiful characters that I pray they live forever no matter who voices them. So much love," Kelly wrote.

Best Ways To Get Blood And Water In Dune: Awakening

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 01:05

From the moment you step foot on Arrakis in Dune: Awakening, you're worried about your hydration level. The meter on the far left side of your screen is as unforgiving as anything else in the MMO, and keeping your character hydrated is constantly a goal for the majority of the early game.

Unfortunately, your methods of staying hydrated are extremely limited at the start of Dune: Awakening. You have the dew plants, but those only allow you to gain one level of hydration. To fully fill up your hydration meter, you need to acquire copious amounts of water and, eventually, blood to ensure your character doesn't die out in the hot sands of Arrakis.

To see the best ways to get water and blood in Dune: Awakening, take a look at the guide below.

Best Ways To Get Salvaged Metal And Fuel Cells In Dune: Awakening

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 01:05

During the early stages of Dune: Awakening, you'll be tasked with acquiring a few basic resources that will serve as the foundation of your character's gear and base items. Some of these resources include Granite, Plant Fiber, and Salvaged Metal. You'll also be asked to add some Fuel Cells to your inventory, as those are what you use to power anything electronic in Dune: Awakening.

When it comes to Granite and Plant Fiber, you'll have no issues whatsoever finding either of those resources, as they're as abundant as the sand on Arrakis. However, Salvaged Metal and Fuel Cells take a little more searching to find. Below, you can see exactly how to get Salvaged Metal and Fuel Cells for all of your early game needs in Dune: Awakening.

Where to find Salvaged Metal in Dune: Awakening

Out of the two resources, Salvaged Metal is the easier one to find. One of your first missions in Dune: Awakening requires you to find 250 of the resource, though, which isn't so easy.

This Call Of Duty Skin Is Broken And Temporarily Removed

Sat, 06/07/2025 - 00:46

Call of Duty's Season 4 update has seemingly caused a problem with an operator skin for Frank Woods, and players will find the skin is currently unavailable to use in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone.

According to Treyarch's Trello board, the developer disabled the "Numbers" operator skin for Frank Woods on May 31, which is just days after the Season 4 update. Treyarch is investigating a bug that caused this operator skin to glow much brighter than intended.

The Numbers skin was part of the "Frank Woods Operator Pack," which was a preorder bonus given out to those who preordered the digital or Vault edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The Numbers skin featured Woods surrounded by glowing red numbers, but it appears a bug from the recent update caused his entire body to have an intense glow.
