Hollow Knight Silksong Is Launching This Year, According To Microsoft
Hollow Knight: Silksong has finally made a reappearance, featuring during the announcement of the ROG Xbox Ally handheld. Speaking after the reveal, Xbox's Sarah Bond confirmed that Silksong will be out soon, stating that it will be "available at launch and in Game Pass" when the handheld launches later this year.
This isn't the first time Microsoft has confirmed Silksong's release window. Back in 2022, Silksong featured during the Xbox Games Showcase then, with each game at the show supposedly releasing within 12 months. It was later indefinitely delayed, only surfacing again during the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal earlier this year.
First revealed more than five years ago, details on Silksong have been very hard to come by since 2019. While Team Cherry has teased enemy designs and gameplay updates over the years, everything else has remained a mystery.

Ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025, a range of Xbox games have begun appearing in Microsoft's Xbox app on PC. While not currently playable, this could be the first look at Microsoft's attempt to unify its PC and Xbox platforms by providing a single library for all of your purchases.
This approach would align with some peculiar marketing that started appearing when Microsoft announced Gears of War: Reloaded earlier this year. The Xbox Wire announcement noted that the game was due to release on Xbox PC, the first time Microsoft has referred to the PC platform with the Xbox moniker in the name. This followed as a logo in the trailer for MIO: Memories in Orbit, as noted by The Verge, which listed "Xbox PC" as a release platform.
Right now, a random assortment of Xbox games has started appearing on the Xbox app on PC, from current Xbox Series X|S releases and down to Xbox 360 games. None of them are playable, however, outside of existing games that have released across both platforms already. It's unclear right now if Microsoft is simply trying to centralize your Xbox library across all platforms, or whether some unannounced plans for streaming or emulation of these titles is imminent.
Continue Reading at GameSpotAfter Silent Hill 2, Cronos: The New Dawn Might Complete Bloober Team's Redemption Arc
When the Silent Hill 2 remake proved to be so good, some were slow to give Bloober Team much credit, citing how it had a strong blueprint to build from. It's true that Konami's landmark original is as good a starting point as any, and Bloober Team's earlier works were often met with mixed reviews at best--the team hasn't shied away from its history. To me, it was nonetheless a tall task to live up to a game that so many hold so dear. But if you count yourself among those who are waiting to see if the Polish team can do it again, and with something entirely of its own creation, Cronos: The New Dawn is starting to look like that game.
Back in October of last year, Bloober Team told me that it's probably always going to be a studio that makes horror games, and at Summer Game Fest Play Days 2025, the team made it clear that it wanted to find its own gameplay hook with its next project. It looked at Dead Space's combat that drove players to cut off limbs and Alan Wake's way of stripping enemies of their "shields" using light sources, and it knew it didn't want its next game to be a simple point-and-shoot horror game. From that guidance, the "merge system" was born.
Because the time-traveling horror story is set both before and after an epidemic wipes out much of humanity, the places you explore are often home to a great number of dead bodies. Things fell apart fast, and what's left of people have often been morphed into "orphans," the game's name for its enemy monsters. These grotesque brutes come in different shapes and sizes. Some are armored, others shoot acidic puke at you. Some fling slimy, crimson tentacles toward your face.

Creature-collecting ARPG Aniimo has been unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase, and the game is currently in development at Pawprint Studio. Similar to Pokemon on Nintendo systems, Aniimo is set in a world where players collect magical creatures and it'll be a free-to-play game when it launches for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile devices in 2026.
The big gameplay hook in Aniimo is the "Twining" gameplay mechanic, which allows players to unlock more abilities for their Aniimo. Pawprint Studio says that the game takes place in an open-world of Idyll, a land full of uncharted landscapes and ancient mysteries.
"Like every other player, the Aniimo team has always believed that one day, there will be a game that exists that makes all our dreams come true. Instead of waiting any longer, we created it ourselves" executive producer Jovi Zhang said in a press release. "Every day we are discovering more about the Aniimo's personalities, their interactions, their stories, and their environment. The world of Aniimo is now ready for you to explore with us, and we can't wait to see you there."

The Magic: The Gathering x Fallout crossover set is available for a great price at Amazon right now. Fans of the TCG and Fallout can grab all four Commander Decks for only $153. When Fallout's Magic set released last year, the Commander Deck Bundle regularly sold for $240, so you're saving nearly $90 compared to the original going rate. With Amazon's deal, you're paying $38.25 per deck, which is an awesome price since multiple of them still cost $60 each. There are 154 new Fallout-themed cards across the four Commander Decks.
These days, four-deck bundle tends to sell for $175 to $190, and the current deal is very close to the $147 all-time low, which was briefly offered back in April.

Herdling, the next game from the Far: Lone Sails team, Okomotive, is coming this summer to consoles and PC, but you don't have to wait any longer to play a portion of it yourself. The free Herdling demo is out now on Steam, as was just announced alongside a new gameplay trailer during the Future Games Show.
In Herdling, players control a nameless child who takes on the responsibility of herding a pack of fantastical mammoth-like creatures, called calicorns, to their home. Players must guide them to safety and will benefit from their help in puzzles. The trick will frequently be getting the calicorns from A to B without losing any to narrow passageways, train tracks, and other (sometimes deadly) obstacles.
I played an early portion of the game at PAX West last year and have since been anticipating it hitting me like a ton of bricks when it arrives in full--in a bittersweet way that I appreciate, mind you. It's going to be sad, no doubt, but if there is a way to play it without losing any furry friends, you can bet I'll be trying to find it. It reminds me of Journey in that the objective is a mountain far off in the distance, and getting there is a road trip of beautiful music to listen to and sights to see.

Hitman: World of Assassination - Signature Edition sees Agent 47 and his penchant for disguises and creative murders arrive on Nintendo's newest console. The Switch 2's Signature Edition is a comprehensive package, featuring the full campaigns for Hitman (2016), Hitman 2 (2018), and Hitman 3 (2021), along with Contracts mode, Escalation, Elusive Target arcades, the relatively new (and excellent) Freelancer mode, Sniper Assassin mode, featured live content, and everything from both the Hitman 2 Expansion Pack and Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack. That includes cosmetics, locations like Haven Island and The Bank, and side missions such as the Seven Deadly Sins and Special Assignments campaigns.
The only content not included are three specific Elusive Target arcade contracts--Replication, The Base, and The Oroborous--and the Sarajevo Six bonus contracts. You can purchase all of this content on the Nintendo eShop for $5 each, but it's disconcerting that these missions are gated behind paid DLC in the first place. The Sarajevo Six is the latest piece of significant DLC for the game, but it still came out two years ago after previously being exclusive to the PlayStation 4 version of Hitman 2, so you'd expect it to be included in a package that already costs $60. The Elusive Target contracts are even more egregious because they were previously released as free updates many years ago. These packs include cosmetics, which is probably the justification for selling them, but I think people would be a lot happier if the actual gameplay content was separated and included in the initial purchase. Having said that, you're still getting dozens upon dozens of hours of Hitman to sink your teeth into. It's an exhaustive package, even with parts missing.
Ultimately, this is still a solid collection--it just plays better everywhere else.Of course, the big question regarding this port is: How's the performance? Unlike the Switch version of Hitman 3, which required cloud streaming to run at all, the Signature Edition runs natively on the Switch 2 but falls short of other versions of the game in several areas. It's not terrible, but there are clearly better places to play if you're interested in killing people with a bald, barcoded assassin.

Following the spectacular Death Star Sabotage season finale event, Fortnite is offline for maintenance ahead of the launch of Chapter 6 Season 3. The Emperor has been defeated, the Empire has been run off the Fortnite island yet again, and after five short weeks of Star Wars mayhem, it's time for Fortnite to move on to its summer season, which has only just slightly been officially revealed--more on that in a moment.
Star Wars season was an unorthodox one for Epic Games, which had never dropped a season quite like this one before--past mini seasons were throwbacks, rather than full-throated collaboration events, though last year's Remix season blurred that line. But now that it's over, Fortnite is going back to a more standard season for the summer. And we won't have long to wait for it to get started.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 start timeEvery previous time that a Fortnite season ended with a live event on a Saturday, the game went offline until at least Sunday morning. But this time, it seems as though Season 3 will instead be launching tonight.
Continue Reading at GameSpotFortnite On Switch 2 Is Worse Than What I'm Used To, But A Huge Upgrade For Switch Players
One of Fortnite's greatest strengths is its scalability. You can run it on the highest of high-end PCs or a years-old phone, and it's going to be playable either way. Players across all platforms can join parties and play battle royale, Creative, Fortnite Festival, or almost anything else the game has to offer--sans Saves The World mode--and each player will get a performance and visual experience tailored to their platform. Among many other reasons it's found such lasting success, this is key. You're not locked out based on where you're playing.
For my tastes, I still want that high-end experience, so I play Fortnite on my PC or my Xbox Series X most of the time. Switch 2 players have now joined the fray as the latest platform to host Epic's everything-game, and though it's a downgrade for those like me, for Switch 2 players, it's a sizable step forward.
Playing Fortnite on Switch 2 was nearly my first time playing anything on Nintendo's new hybrid console--save for Madden 26 a few days ago. Like that experience, I found Fortnite can't keep up with Xbox Series X|S or PS5. Textures are noticeably fuzzier; the pop-in of far-away objects, like trees as you glide down to the island, is quite common; and character models lack the same fidelity of the other major consoles. At first, this irritated me. A new console should move the needle, I felt. Why have I been frantically chasing down a Switch 2 for sale if it can't even offer me an experience the likes of which I've been playing for half a decade elsewhere?

The highly anticipated mecha online shooter, Mecha Break, finally got a release date. Revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2025 show, players will be able to go toe to giant mechanical toe on July 1. And considering all of the "wonderful" feedback fans gave during its global open beta, the game seems primed to deliver an action-packed experience.
Developed by Amazing Seasun Games, Mecha Break is set in an alternate future where various factions fight over Earth's sole energy source: a highly toxic mineral called Corite. Due to its volatile nature, Corite can only be handled by mechs. This forms the basis for the team-based battles in the game's main competitive mode. Potentially compelling story beats aside, players won't need a ton of motivation to jump into these large flying machines and wage war against each other across various battlefields next month.

After almost a year of beta testing, Indonesian developer Fajrul FN dropped a new trailer for their new indie beat-'em-up Acts of Blood during Summer Game Fest 2025.
Set in a hazy southeast Asian dystopia, the game focuses on a young man attempting to avenge his dead father against a seemingly infinite number of hard-hitting criminals. Our hero, however, looks like he hits harder. The combat appears to be very much influenced by the recent slate of absolutely brutal Indonesian martial arts flicks, such as Gareth Evans' The Raid, or Timo Tjahjanto's The Night Comes For Us.
Gameplay-wise, though, Acts of Blood appears to be taking its cues from the free-flowing mechanics of Sloclap's Sifu, another unique take on beat-'em-ups pitting a lone fighter against a keen-to-kill swarm of enemies, except Acts of Blood's hero apparently isn't above laying waste to his enemies with the nearest baseball bat, crowbar, or shotgun.
