And Roger Is Gut-Wrenching Proof That Small Games Can Pack A Huge Punch
From their massive open worlds, unfathomably large download sizes, and seemingly endless checklists of collectibles, missions, and side quests, games are so much nowadays. It's really no fault of the titles themselves that this formula works--it's tried, it's true, and it sells. But it does mean that I appreciate the occasional break from this exact mold of game. And Roger, a narrative game that can be completed within an hour and manages to do so much with so little, offers exactly that kind of break, and I'd love it if it became the standard rather than the exception.
I'm not too interested in giving away the most explicit details of And Roger right here and now. For just about five dollars on your PC and/or Switch, you can see all it has to say over the course of a slightly long lunch break. I've nothing to gain from telling you what it is, but you've got everything to lose by not just experiencing it firsthand. It covers a lot of ground in a pretty short amount of time, and its gut punches are as hard as they are dizzying.
And Roger plays like an interactive graphic novel--think 2018's Florence, which depicted the highs and lows of the titular character's romance and journey of self-discovery across comic-like panels and minigames. And Roger appears to take some cues from the award-winning narrative title, communicating its story largely through brief mechanical interludes that break up its often distressing narrative. However, where Florence basked in the glow of new love and the ennui of uncertainty, And Roger drops players into the confusing perspective of its main character and leads them on what can only be described as an expertly crafted emotional rollercoaster that tightly skirts the boundaries between different genres of stories.

It's been 12 years since Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher suited up for action in a video game, but Tom Clancy's iconic hero is getting a comeback on Netflix. The streamer is producing a new animated series, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, that features Liev Schreiber as the voice of Fisher. Now, Netflix has shared a new image from the series that depicts Fisher in his famous night vision goggles.

Netflix dropped the first teaser trailer for Splinter Cell during last year's Geeked Week, which included a brief clip of Schreiber demonstrating his voice for the character. Schreiber is replacing veteran actor Michael Ironside, who voiced Fisher in most of the Splinter Cell games.
John Wick co-creator Derek Kolstad is the head writer and producer for Deathwatch, and he briefly told Collider about his plans for the series.

Borderlands 4 includes new features for the series, one of which is double-jumping. Developer Gearbox didn't feel the need to justify the feature's existence, because Borderlands 4 was developed with the aim of allowing players to do what they want, even if it doesn't make sense.
"The biggest commitment we made in Borderlands 4 is to give the players what they want," Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford said in an interview with the Epic Games Store. "We just said, 'F**k it. You can double jump.'"
The game doesn't take any time to provide a "rationalization" for why this is possible. "You're literally in the air, and you hit the jump button again, and you'll get another jump out of it. Does it feel good? Is it fun? Then I don't give a s**t if it makes any sense," Pitchford said.

For over two decades, Justin Wong (aka JWong) has been a major figure among fighting game players along the way to winning nine Evo championships. Now, Wong is joining Basilisk as the captain of its new Fighting Game Community Division.
In his new role, Wong will be recruiting players for Basilisk's team and working on community events. Since Basilisk was founded to put forth scientific causes, Wong will also be creating science crossover content for the new fighting game team.
"Math is super important to fighting games," said Wong in a statement. "I'm excited to join science's esports team. I'm passionate about finding promising players with a positive mentality and shaping them into the next big thing. I want to see somebody else in the spotlight after me and help them reach their potential. If we can discover the next world champion, that would be fantastic."

See at AmazonRazer just expanded its Wolverine V3 Pro lineup with a PC-only model aimed at competitive players who want the speed and precision of a wired connection in a wireless controller. The Razer Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC Controller has a blistering 8,000Hz polling rate in wireless and wired modes--32 times faster than the V3 Pro for Xbox in wireless mode and eight times faster in wired mode. The V3 Pro 8K also utilizes new thumbstick technology, has upgraded grips, and greatly improves the battery life. You can purchase the Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC Controller for $200 at Amazon; it's ready to ship now and is eligible for Prime.
Outside of those upgrades, the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro 8K has the same core features as the Xbox edition, including four remappable back triggers, two claw bumpers, microswitch buttons, custom profile support, and excellent ergonomics. For this reason, we'd recommend reading the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro for Xbox review we published last summer, as the vast majority of our commentary applies to the new 8K edition. The V3 Pro for Xbox was and still is a fantastic high-end controller for Xbox and PC. But if you have no need for Xbox console support, the V3 Pro 8K is the better pick for PC gaming thanks to the tech upgrades.
Both V3 Pro wireless models retail for $200, and just like the Xbox model, the PC-only 8K edition is also available in a wired-only Tournament Edition. The Tournament Edition price for the 8K is $120, whereas the original is $100.

Wizards of the Coast has officially revealed the first look at cards from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering - Avatar: The Last Airbender expansion. Along with new cards showing off many fan-favorite ATLA characters like Toph, Sokka, Katara, and Zuko, the First Look livestream showed off the expansion's new Bending mechanics: unique abilities attributed to the airbending, earthbending, firebending, and waterbending powers synonymous with the Avatar series.
Each element's bending ability gives the same basic benefit to the player using it, though the size of the benefit depends on the card being cast. Here, though, is a brief explainer on each of the four core element's bending abilities, and examples of cards that will utilize bending abilities in their overall strategies.
AirbendingAppa, Steadfast GuardianAirbending allows you to exile--the Magic term for "remove from the game"--a certain number of permanents on your side of the battlefield. You can return those permanents later in the game by paying two generic mana rather than the card's actual mana cost.
