Marvel Rivals Season 1 Balance Update Is Full Of Buffs And Nerfs For Each Role: Full Patch Notes
Marvel Rivals will soon kick off Season 1: Eternal Night Falls on January 10, and it wouldn't be a proper season start without a wide-range of balance changes to spice up the game's still in flux meta.
In a blog post, developer NetEase outlined some of its philosophy in regards to the game's upcoming buffs and nerfs, stating it looked to adjust certain heroes in the name of "enabling a broader roster to partake in more intricate gameplay, ensuring a richer, more engaging, and diverse gaming experience for all." It outlined a number of different team compositions and strategies players are employing, and overall seems happy with what it calls a "vibrant diversity of lineups." That lineup is certain to change with the addition of the Fantastic Four this season, with heroes Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman joining the roster at the season's start.
As for the changes themselves, there are a number of buffs and nerfs to heroes in each role, with a significant number of changes to Duelist heroes. Popular damage dealers Hawkeye and Hela are being brought down a peg, with Hela having her health slightly decreased while Hawkeye will no longer be doing quite as much damage at longer ranges. On the flipside, Black Widow (one of the game's least-picked heroes according to NetEase), is getting a number of buffs. Moon Knight's ultimate ability will be more effective in Season 1, while Psylocke's will be a little less effective as it will have to cut through enemy shields as well. Storm is getting much-needed buffs, with increased projectile speed and damage, as well as more bonus health upon finishing her ultimate ability. Winter Soldier, another popular Duelist pick, is losing a little damage but gaining more survivability.

Continue Reading at GameSpotLenovo Legion Go S Windows Handheld Preorders Are Live, SteamOS Model Releases In May
The Lenovo Legion Go S will become the first PC handheld not named Steam Deck to run on Valve's SteamOS when it launches this May. On paper, the $500 handheld is more powerful than the Steam Deck. That said, it doesn't have an OLED display or trackpads, so you'll have to weigh the pros and cons of the Steam Deck vs. Legion Go S to make your choice.
If you want a handheld running on SteamOS, that is. If you're interested in a Windows portable, you can get the Legion Go S sooner. Slated to release in the coming weeks for $730, the high-end Lenovo Legion Go S with Windows has double the RAM and storage space as the SteamOS edition and is available to preorder at Best Buy.
Lenovo Legion Go S (Windows Version) $730 | Releases February 14At CES 2025, Lenovo said the Windows version of the Legion Go S would be available this month, but Best Buy's listing has the new handheld marked for February 14.
The Legion Go S is fitted with the new AMD Ryzen Z2 Go chip, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It has an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 LCD display with 120Hz variable refresh rate. Other features include adjustable RGB light rings around the analog sticks, two back buttons, one trackpad, and a pair of levers on the back that modify trigger tension.
Unlike the original Legion Go, this one doesn’t offer detachable gamepads or a kickstand, opting instead for a solid, streamlined design built specifically for handheld play. Lenovo increased the battery capacity from 49.2Wh to 55Wh with the Legion Go S.
Lenovo will also launch a second Windows configuration in May for $600. This lower-priced model has 16GB RAM instead of 32GB. Preorders aren't live for the $600 model just yet.
Preorder at Best Buy Lenovo Legion Go S (SteamOS Version) $500 | Releases in MayThe SteamOS edition isn't available to preorder yet, but it'll launch in May for $500. The Legion Go S will be the first third-party handheld that uses Valve's Steam Deck operating system. This model will receive the same updates as Valve’s Steam Deck. That means you won’t have to worry about Valve abandoning SteamOS on the Legion Go S, as the team is treating SteamOS as a unified platform regardless of which handheld you’re playing on.
While it retains the Ryzen Z2 Go chip and the 8-inch 1200p display, the SteamOS edition is limited to 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. You can upgrade your SSD or expand the storage capacity via microSD.
For comparison, the Steam Deck starts at $399 for the 256GB model with a 7-inch LCD display. The 512GB model with a 7.4-inch OLED display costs $549, and the 1TB OLED edition goes for $649.
If you opt for the Legion Go S, you'll get a faster processor and a larger 8-inch screen with higher resolution--1200p compared to the Steam Deck's 800p resolution. That said, the Legion Go S uses an LCD panel, whereas the 512GB and 1TB Steam Deck models have better OLED screens.
Lenovo went with a more conventional control layout with offset sticks, while the Steam Deck's two sticks, D-pad, and face buttons are essentially aligned. The layout admittedly looks odd, but the Steam Deck is a lot comfier than it looks. Valve's handheld has four remappable back triggers, while Lenovo's new handheld only has two. The Steam Deck also has two large trackpads, whereas the Legion Go S has one small pad. Adjustable trigger tension is unique to the Legion Go S.
With these differences, it'll be interesting to see how the Legion Go S stacks up against the Steam Deck. Expect to learn more about the handheld as we get closer to its May release date. We'll update this article when preorders are available.
See Lenovo handhelds at Best BuyThe Legion Go S isn’t the only upcoming handheld from Lenovo, as the brand is also working on a Legion Go 2. It’ll arrive sometime this year (an exact date is yet to be announced) and features a more powerful Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, an 8.8-inch, 144Hz OLED display with VRR, and a 74Wh battery.

For the better part of two decades, Dwarf Fortress has been the passion project of brothers Tarn and Zach Adams. Although the acclaimed fantasy simulation game has technically remained in development since its debut in 2006, Dwarf Fortress' Adventure Mode will launch out of beta on January 23. The announcement was sent out with the following video, and an update about the latest changes in the game.
Dwarf Fortress allows players to control a clan of dwarves as they stake out their place in a procedurally generated fantasy world. Adventure Mode shakes up the formula by allowing players to step into a roguelike-style RPG and explore the worlds that were created during their time in the standard game. Adventure Mode also allows players to accept quests and look for lost treasures, among other activities.
Tarn Adams and Kitfox's Alexandra Orlando have shared Dwarf Fortress' latest updates on its Steam page. Most of the changes were for Adventure Mode, including enhanced options for character creation, the addition of Adventure Mode's soundtrack to Fortress Mode, and even the option for child and baby portraits.

Superman returns to the big screen later this year with a new film directed by James Gunn, but for anyone looking for some Man of Steel content in the meantime, you can now preorder Superman and Lois: The Complete Series on Blu-ray ahead of its April 1 launch.
Superman and Lois: The Complete Series Blu-RaySuperman and Lois offers a unique spin on the iconic hero that sees him balancing his duties as Earth's protector and his home life with Lois Lane. This collection includes all four seasons of the hit live-action TV series. No special features or bonus content has been revealed yet.
You can grab Superman and Lois: The Complete Series at Amazon for $98.73, while Walmart and Gruv are offering it for $75. We expect Amazon's listing will drop in price ahead of launch. Preordering at Amazon or Walmart locks you in for either retailer's preorder price guarantee, so you'll only pay the lowest price and will only be charged when your order ships.
Preorder at Amazon Preorder at Walmart Preorder at Gruv DC Universe 4K Blu-ray MoviesWhile it will be a few months before this box set is available, you can grab a ton of DC Universe content for cheap right now thanks to a big Amazon sale on 4K Blu-rays. You can grab three Blu-rays for $33 in this deal, and if we're talking Superman specifically, you can pick up the classic 1978 film alongside Snyderverse entries like Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Justice League. You'll probably want to avoid the Joss Whedon version as it's infamously bad and pick up the Snyder Cut instead--which is also kind of bad but at least it looks gorgeous in comparison.
One quick thing to note with this deal is that the promotion only applies to movies sold and shipped by Amazon. If you don't see a "Get any 3 for $33" Savings tag under the price, then it's likely that you've clicked on a listing for a third-party seller. The easiest way to get around this is to click "Other sellers on Amazon," filter only the "New" listings, and click "Add to Cart" on the option sold and shipped by Amazon so that the discount applies to your order.

Splash Damage did not say why Transformers: Reactivate was canceled, however. It said not being able to launch the game is "painful" but saying goodbye to colleagues "hurts even more."

Monopoly is one of the most beloved board games ever made, and it’s getting a fresh redesign next month. Hasbro is releasing a new edition of Monopoly on February 10, giving the game an upgraded look that features a more compact box, a new tray to keep the bank organized, larger tokens, and a modern visual design that breathes new life into the board. You’ll also find three expansions up for grabs that let you add a fun twist to Monopoly--so even if you’ve played the game a thousand times, they’re bound to keep things exciting.
Monopoly $20 | Releases February 10This is your classic version of Monopoly, just with a few updates to modernize its design and streamline your game night. For example, it comes with a new storage tray to keep all the cards and cash organized, larger tokens, houses, and hotels for easier handling, and vibrant new graphics across the board. Beyond that, it’s the same game you know and love, as you’ll still be buying up properties as you hope to build an empire and outwit the competition.
Preorder at Amazon Monopoly: Go to Jail Expansion $10Mix up your Monopoly game nights with this wild expansion. Instead of lengthy sessions that can last for hours, this expansion cuts the play time to under an hour. It also brings tons of new features, such as a chance to earn rewards for going to jail, Corruption Cards that impact your fellow players, and the introduction of Super Jail. This expansion is not a standalone game, but it's compatible with the new version of Monopoly and any classic--meaning non-themed--edition of the game.
See at Amazon Monopoly: Free Parking Jackpot Expansion $10Like the Go to Jail Expansion, this one also cuts play sessions to around 40 minutes. But instead of spicing up your jail sentence, this one changes the Free Parking spaces into Spin spaces--allowing you to earn huge benefits when landing on them. It also adds the Deal Mobile, which lets you skip out on rent and grants free properties. Again, this expansion requires either the new revised edition or a classic standard edition of Monopoly.
See at Amazon Monopoly: Buy Everything Expansion $10Once again, this expansion turns Monopoly into a fast-paced game that runs for 40 minutes. It allows you to buy every space on the board, including Free Parking, GO, the Bank, and Jail. There’s also a Sale Vault that sells game-changing cards, and using these at the right time can swing the outcome in your favor. Like the other expansions, this is not a standalone game, but is compatible with all classic versions of Monopoly, including the upcoming redesigned version.
See at Amazon Monopoly (Classic) $20
If you don’t want to wait until February 10 to use these expansions with the latest edition of Monopoly, you can pick up the older version for $20. The expansions are fully compatible with both the existing and the upcoming enhanced version of Monopoly, so you don’t have to wait until next month to play Buy Everything, Free Parking Jackpot, and Go to Jail.

Monster Hunter Wilds Is Getting Another Cross-Platform Beta Next Month
Next month, Capcom will bring Monster Hunter Wilds to players just over seven years since the last mainline game, Monster Hunter: World, debuted in 2018. There was an open beta for players in October, and now Capcom has announced that a second open beta in February. The news was accompanied by the following video, which features Monster Hunter Wilds producer Ryozo Tsujimoto using the create-a-character function to place himself in the game.
In terms of content, the new beta will be very similar to the one from last year. Players will still be able to use the character creator, try out the story trial, and complete the Slay Doshaguma quest. However, this version of the demo will also include Gypceros, a monster from the previous games who was absent in the first demo.
According to Tsujimoto, characters created in the first beta can be carried over to the second beta and to the final version of the game as well. However, game progress will not be transferable. The second open beta will be held over two weekends on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It will also be cross-platform, and the beta is open to all players regardless of whether they have Game Pass or PlayStation Plus.

A Shadow of the Colossus movie has been in the works for more than a decade already, and despite nothing materializing yet, the project's director has issued a hopeful statement about it. In a recent interview, Andy Muschietti said Shadow of the Colossus is a "masterpiece" and that he's played it several times. Now, after 10 years, the "possibility of making [the movie] is opening up," he said.
Muschietti told La Baulera del Coso on Radio TU that he's been impressed by the script he's seen, but whether or not he'll actually get to make the movie may come down to financing.
"Shadow of the Colossus is a cult game, but to make a good film, there is a studio that puts the numbers and says how much it is worth to give the director $200 million, $150 million, or $100 million," he said (via Eurogamer). "There are different versions of the film, and obviously, I want them to give me $200 million, but this is another factor to take into account."
Continue Reading at GameSpotSwitch 2 Release Month And More Accessories Apparently Revealed
In the absence of any official news about the Switch 2, rumors and reports about it are popping up all over the place, including at the Consumer Electronics Show this week in Las Vegas. The latest rumor stems from peripheral company Genki, which is showing off accessories for the Switch 2 at CES and even reportedly telling one journalist that the system will launch in April.
Accessory manufacturers like Genki might get advance notice of upcoming hardware announcements, but there is no indication here that it's the case. Genki is also displaying what it claims to be a genuine replica of the Switch 2. The company apparently created a mock-up of the Switch 2 as a stand-in to show how Genki's accessories, including a docking station and case, will work for it.
The report from Numerama (via VGC) also states that the Switch 2's new Joy-Cons have an optical sensor and a "C" button, the purpose of which is unknown. Again, all of this information should be taken with a grain of salt.
Continue Reading at GameSpotMicrosoft Wants To Bring "The Best Of Xbox And Windows" To Handheld PCs
AT CES 2025, Microsoft VP of Next Generation Jason Ronald teased a refreshed user experience for Windows handheld gaming PCs: one that could combine the best aspects of its operating system and Xbox. While Windows 11 allows for more choice--users can access Steam, Epic Games Store, and several other marketplaces--it can be a chore to use because it is natively designed for PCs and laptops--not handheld systems with much smaller screens.
"We've been really innovating for a long time in the console space, and as we partner across the industry it's really about how do we bring those innovations that we've incubated and developed in the console space and bring them to PC and bring them to the handheld gaming space," Ronald said an AMD and Lenovo event (via The Verge). "I would say it's bringing the best of Xbox and Windows together, because we have spent the last 20 years building a world-class operating system, but it's really locked to the console. What we're doing is we're really focused on how do we bring those experiences for both players and developers to the broader Windows ecosystem."
Ronald explained that Microsoft aims to bring a console-like experience to handhelds and "make Windows great for gaming" on any device. Microsoft will have more details to share later in the year, Ronald said, adding that the idea is to move away from a Windows desktop setup on handhelds and toward a "gaming-centric" experience.

It's official: Valve's SteamOS will be available on more platforms soon, and the first handheld PC gaming device to adopt the operating system will be the new Lenovo Legion Go S. At CES 2025, it was revealed that the slim Lenovo unit will run on the Linux-based OS--, the same one used on Valve's Steam Deck.
Lenovo Legion Go SThe big draw here is that SteamOS is more intuitive to use and better suited for smaller screens when compared to its Windows 11 counterparts. While you are losing out on the flexibility of being able to load games from multiple storefronts, SteamOS makes up for it by being quick and easy to use thanks to its design. Razer brought a bunch of new gaming hardware and accessories to show off at CES 2025 this week, including two big additions to its gaming chair lineup. The first of these gaming chair announcements is the Project Arielle Fan System, a bladeless fan add-on for Razer's Fujin and Fujin Pro mesh gaming chairs.
The Project Arielle fan attaches to the Fujin and Fujin Pro backrests and, according to Razer's press release, can reduce the perceived temperature by between 2 to 5 degrees Celsius (roughly 3.5 to 5.5 degrees Fahrenheit) with fan noise "as soft as a whisper." It also features energy-efficient heaters that can deliver warm air up to 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), making it helpful in any environment. Temperature and fan speeds are controlled via a touch panel on the side of the seat, and it can be easily attached or removed from the chair thanks to a quick-release connection.
Razer's Project AriellePricing and release date information has not been revealed, though Razer is demoing Project Arielle in person at its CES 2025 booth, so we expect the fan add-on to launch in the near future. In the meantime, the Razer Fujin Pro is available now, starting at $1,050 at Razer's online store. The standard Razer Fujin gaming chair is available for a 25% discount at Amazon, which drops the price from $650 to $500. Luckily, there's an optional headrest add-on for the Fujin available for $130 at Best Buy.

Nvidia revealed its next generation of graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 50-series, at CES this week. There are four new GPUs in the lineup: the Geforce RTX 5090, 5080, 5070, and 5070 Ti.
The flagship card, the RTX 5090, is priced at $2,000, and Nvidia claims it's twice as powerful as the RTX 4090 but requires a 1,000-watt power supply--a huge leap from the RTX 4090's 450W baseline power draw. Despite its power demands, the RTX 5090 is more compact than its predecessor, fitting into smaller PC builds.
The slimmer size and higher performance are true of all the cards in the lineup, with Nvidia claiming the $1,000 RTX 5080 to be twice as fast as the RTX 4080. The budget-priced $550 RTX 5070 offers performance comparable to the RTX 4090, at nearly a third of the price. The 5070 Ti, meanwhile, sits between the 5070 and 5080 in terms of price ($750) and performance.
