Reapers and Foxes: The Winners of the 2018 UTS Student Games Showcase

At this year’s Student Games Showcase we had three awards to give away, each with prizes for every member of the winning team. Below are this year’s winners!

Best Game – Game Design Studio 1

This award was decided by impartial members of the Sydney games education, development, and research industries. This award was for games made in the subject 31102 Game Design Studio 1. This is a third year, first semester capstone subject for student in the Bachelor of Science in Games Development that pushes students to the limits of game design and development, requiring that they utilize and build upon their knowledge from the first two years of their degree while also teaching and enforcing agile project management methodologies.

AND THE WINNER IS:

Best Game - Introduction to Game Design

Similar to above, this award was decided by impartial members of the Sydney games education, development, and research industries. The award is for games made in the subject 31262 Introduction to Computer Game Design (postgraduate 32004), which is a second year, first semester subject of the Bachelor of Science in Games Development as well as an open electives for undergraduates and postgraduates in within the UTS Faculty of Engineering and IT.

AND THE WINNER IS:

FoxTrap

People’s Choice Award

This award was sponsored by Microsoft Australia and was open to all attendees of the showcase to vote on, including the students themselves. Votes could be cast on all games from Introduction to Game Design and Games Design Studio 1, as well as select project from 31264 Introduction to Computer Graphics and the undergraduate research subject 31248 Games and Graphics Project. Over 100 votes were cast for the People’s Choice Award and there was one clear favourite that stood out above all the rest.
