Battlefield 6 Conquest Update Makes A Key Change To Scoring

Fri, 11/21/2025 - 00:18

Battlefield Studios has made a key change to Battlefield 6's Conquest mode which the developer says should help matches run longer, but in a good way.

As of today, November 20, Conquest matches now have an increased number of tickets--up from 1,000 to 1,200. The developer said it arrived at this change after watching feedback generally, along with "win rates, balance, the impact of objective play, and more."

The 1.1.2.0 update made changes to help push players to play the objective, and this has been working out so far, with more come-from-behind victories, among other positive results. However, these changes also led to matches ending "sooner than intended," and to address this, Battlefield Studios is increasing the number of tickets. The developer said this should help with match length and retain the focus on playing the objective.

Logitech G Astro A50 X Premium Headset Gets Massive Discount

Several Logitech headsets are discounted at Amazon for Black Friday, including the premium Logitech G Astro A50 X Wireless--which is available at Amazon with a $70 discount. You'll also find the Logitech G Astro A50 Wireless for $240 (was $300) and the Logitech G Astro A10 Gen 2 Wired Headset for $50 (was $70). Check out a full breakdown of the discounted headsets below, and be sure to browse GameSpot's Black Friday Deals Hub for price cuts on other PC gaming hardware, Blu-rays, books, and more.

Logitech G Astro A50 X Wireless Headset $330 (was $400)

The Logitech G Astro A50 X is the most luxurious of the trio of products on sale for Black Friday. Available in black or white, it supports PS5, Xbox, and PC, and you can switch between them simultaneously at the press of a button. You can also use it with Nintendo Switch while the console is docked. The main attraction, however, is unique HDMI 2.1 Passthrough technology, offering 24-bit/48kHz audio that should impress even the most discerning audiophile.

Aside from its cool HDMI tech, the headset is equipped with everything else you'd expect from a $300+ gadget. This includes Pro-G Graphene audio drivers (40mm), the ability to listen to two devices at once, up to 24 hours of battery life, and a mobile app to help you optimize its performance. There's also an included docking station with LED lights that lets you quickly recharge your headset between play sessions.

See at Amazon (White) See at Amazon (Black) Logitech G Astro A50 Wireless Headset $240 (was $300)

This offers many of the same features as the A50 X, though it skips out on the HDMI Passthrough technology. Beyond that, you can still connect to PS5, Xbox, Switch, and PC, you'll still get Pro-G Graphene audio drivers (40mm), and you'll still get an included base station for charging. The same mobile app also lets you tweak a variety of settings like stream output mixing, mic settings, and other variables, and the overall design of the A50 is essentially the same as the A50 X.

Note that if you're playing on PC, this will support the same 24-bit/48kHz as the A50 X. On console, performance drops to 16-bit/48kHz. In short, if you're playing just on PC, this is the headset to get. If you're playing on console, you'll have to decide if the slight performance bump of the A50 X is worth an extra $90.

Just need a reliable headset that won't break the bank? Take a peek at the Logitech G Astro A10 Gen 2 now that it's just $50 (was $70). Its stat sheet won't blow you away, but priced at $50, it's a pretty good deal. The wired 3.5mm connection supports PS5, Xbox, Switch, and PC, a flip-to-mute microphone makes it easy to chat with teammates, and its 32mm drivers should be good enough for most casual players.

Logitech built the headset to be durable too, with a flexible headband that can take a beating and oversized earcups that should be comfy during long play sessions. Several different colors and patterns are on sale--making it easy to find something that fits your style.

One Of The Best Christmas-Themed Video Games Is Just $25 At Amazon

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 19:00
See at Amazon

If you're shopping for video games that could be perfect gifts for kids, consider picking up this early Black Friday deal on The Grinch: Christmas Adventures. The PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of the family-friendly platformer are all discounted to just $25 (was $40) at Amazon. We don't know how long this limited-time deal will last, so it's worth picking up while you still can.

The Grinch: Christmas Adventures $25 (was $40)

The Grinch: Christmas Adventures standard edition includes a boxed copy of the game. The full game data is included on the disc (or the cartridge, in the case of the Nintendo Switch). That said, unlike previous eras of gaming where you could simply pop a new game into your console and start playing right away, newer titles often need to install at least some game data to the console's hard drive, which can take several minutes. So if you're planning to give this to a family member, a pro move would be to open the case and insert the disc in the console so all the data is installed, then wrap the gift once it's complete so they can start playing right away.

The Grinch: Christmas Adventures is a kid-friendly game that lets players explore Who-Ville as the Grinch, tackling platforming sections through the town's outskirts, snowboarding stunt sequences, jetpack challenges, and more. The Grinch's dog, Max, is also a playable character with his own unique missions, and the game is full of collectibles that let you unlock jigsaw puzzles, art, and Grinch-y accessories. The game first launched back in 2023, but has remained surprisingly popular with players, and it even received a new DLC expansion last month titled The Grinch: Christmas Adventures - Determined to Love Christmas. The expansion is available as a $10 premium download on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Nintendo eShop.

After a misstep with Battlefield 2042, DICE seems to be back on track with Battlefield 6. Our Battlefield 6 review gave it a 7/10, shouting out its impressive gunplay and new features like crouch sprinting and dragging downed enemies that add a new twist to the usual Battlefield formula. Battlefield 6 features both a single-player campaign and online multiplayer, but it's the latter that's earning the most praise. "Battlefield 6 is a return to form, even if it doesn't reach the same highs as the series at its peak," wrote Richard Wakeling. "The campaign is as lackluster as expected, and the multiplayer maps are only ever decent at best, but there's still a chaotic and super-satisfying shooter here that offers multiplayer thrills unlike any other. Even if you're not racking up kills by the dozens, you're still rewarded for contributing in other ways, and you're never too far away from being in the middle of a histrionic Battlefield moment."

Plenty of other video games, Blu-rays, and more are on sale in Amazon's Black Friday sale. Be sure to check out GameSpot's Black Friday Deals Hub for even more savings available during the Holiday shopping event.

Amazon Is Slashing Prices On Doom: The Dark Ages For Black Friday

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 19:00
See at Amazon

Doom: The Dark Ages, which just launched this summer, is down to $50.39 (was $70) as part of Amazon's Black Friday 2025 deals--which is one of the better price drops we've seen this year. The brutal shooter earned high marks from critics, and if you haven't yet checked out the latest entry in the storied franchise, it's an easy recommendation at this new price.

Doom: The Dark Ages $50.39 (was $70)

Doom: The Dark Ages standard edition includes the base game on either PS5 or Xbox Series X. The game serves as a prequel to both Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, and bridges the storylines of the 90s Doom games with this new reboot trilogy. Note that Amazon's deal applies to the physical version of Doom: The Dark Ages on both Xbox Series X and PS5. You can also play the game via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

See at Amazon

Doom: The Dark Ages can be challenging, but since you can scale its difficulty, it's a good starting point for players of all skill levels. Our Doom: The Dark Ages review awarded the game an 8/10, highlighting its brutal combat, sprawling battlefields, and an updated arsenal that includes some of the series' best weapons. "It's surprising how much Doom: The Dark Ages manages to rein in some of the changes Doom Eternal made while also taking the series in a wholly new direction that redefines its rules of engagement," wrote critic Alessandro Barbosa. "The emphasis is on melee combat that harmonizes beautifully with the tried-and-tested pace of Doom's action, making each new attack parried and counter-attack landed feel as satisfying as the first. It's a finely tuned adventure that delivers the power fantasy of ripping and tearing through thousands of demons without losing an underlying complexity that makes each encounter engaging to blast through."

Black Friday - Save On One Of The Best Leverless Fight Sticks

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 19:00
See at Amazon

Modern fighting games are designed for standard gamepads, but nothing matches the precision and feel of a dedicated arcade-style controller--especially the popular all-button "leverless" style fight sticks. While these can be quite expensive, one of the best devices of this style, the Razer Kitsune--which supports PS5 and PC--is on sale for $226 (was $300) at Amazon. The discount is part of Amazon's Black Friday deals, which include a variety of other gaming peripherals and controllers, as well as discounts on games, movies, and more.

Razer Kitsune All-Button Arcade Controller $226 (was $300)

The Razer Kitsune is a leverless, all-button fighting game controller, meaning it replaces a traditional joystick with dedicated direction buttons. Leverless fight sticks have become very popular within the fighting game community thanks to their quicker, more precise inputs. While it might take some time to adjust to the all-button layout (especially if you are already used to a traditional fight stick), once you do, you'll be pulling off combos and special attacks with ease.

Like several other Razer products, the Kitsune has a super-thin profile and Chroma RGB lighting around the base of the chassis. The aluminum faceplate is also removable, allowing for easy tinkering with the controller. It comes fitted with low-profile optical linear mechanical switches. One thing to note here is that the Kitsune is only compatible with PS5 and PC, which is a bit of a shame considering that the PS4 still has a very active community of fighting game fans.

See at Amazon

"The learning curve is quite steep, but the payoff is well worth the effort. The lack of native PS4 support is disappointing, which would be a dealbreaker for some. But from its build quality and physical design to the ergonomics and actual performance in competitive scenarios, it's nearly impossible for me to find a notable flaw in my 20-plus hours using it," Michael Higham wrote in GameSpot's Razer Kitsune review.

Hell is Us Is $10 Off In Amazon's Early Black Friday Sale

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 19:00
See at Amazon

New-in-box copies of Hell is Us are discounted on Amazon as part of their Black Friday deals. You can get the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X versions for $40 (was $60). The semi-open world action RPG launched just a few weeks in September, so this discounted price is a good time to jump in if you've been curious about the game.

Hell is Us $40 (was $60)

The standard physical edition of Hell Is Us comes in a standard box and includes the full game on your platform of choice. There is no extra content like the Deluxe Edition. It's not a short adventure by any means, so even the base game offers plenty of content to keep you engaged in its world and combat for hours to come. The game is also identical across PS5 and Xbox, though technical performance is a smidge smoother on Xbox, in case you happen to own both systems.

See at Amazon

Hell is Us is a dark and dreary open-world action game that refuses to hold your hand. Compared to other similar games, there are no overwhelming map markers, excessive side quests, points of interest, and so on. Instead, the game encourages you to find your own way through its world without giving you so much as a hint. For some gamers, this may be a hindrance, but seasoned veterans of the genre may appreciate the change. Despite this, the world is much more forgiving than you'd think, and doesn't aim to make exploration too complicated, at least according to our 7/10 review by Alessandro Barbosa.

Leaked Underwear Homer Would Be First Fortnite Skin With Nipples

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 06:17

Fortnite's Simpsons season is apparently about to become a landmark for Epic Games' metaverse for reasons nobody could have expected--by reportedly offering the first shirtless character sporting visible nipples. The skin in question is an additional version of Homer Simpson, separate from the one in the battle pass, who's wearing nothing but his tighty whities.

First look at New (Giant) Homer Skin! pic.twitter.com/LI2ibt7SfM

— Dr Cacahuette - FN Leaks (@DrCacahuette) November 19, 2025

The discussion about Fortnite skins lacking nipples goes back to 2019, when a gigantic, shirtless and nipple-less digital version of Travis Scott performed a concert in Battle Royale. Since then we've gotten plenty of other shirtless guys as skins--but none have had nipples. It's not really that hard to figure out why that's been the norm, though, since Fortnite's art style is not realistic or detailed enough for nipples to be anything other than weird. But with Homer, who's cel-shaded and not very detailed, they can draw a couple circles on his chest that don't look upsetting the way that more detailed nipples on, say, the Mr. Savage skin probably would.

This mostly-naked version of Homer Simpsons is reportedly going to be an item shop skin.

Meanwhile, Homer in his underwear is a topic because this week's update added some loading screens, like the one above, that indicate pretty clearly we'll be facing off against a Giant Homer before the season ends--likely controlled by a player, similar to the Megazord and Godzilla events earlier this year. That this Giant Homer will also be a skin sold in the item shop is just a rumor for the moment, and it's possible that the model that has been datamined is merely the giant one that will roam the Battle Royale island.

Black Ops 7's Nuketown 2025 Map Goes Live Tomorrow, See It In Action Now

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 05:49

Once again, Activision has reimagined one of Call of Duty's most iconic maps, Nuketown, and it's launching on November 20 for Black Ops 7. Now, Activision has released a new trailer dedicated to the map, which shows off its new look.

The new version is called Nuketown 2025, and as you can see in the trailer, the map appears to be based on the same Nuketown 2025 from Black Ops 2. This makes sense as Black Ops 7 is a sequel to Black Ops 2. Whereas the original version of Nuketown from 2010's Black Ops was based on a '50s theme, this newest iteration has a "retro-futuristic" vibe that imagines what people thought the "neighborhood of the future" could look like.

A key gameplay difference for Nuketown 2025 in Black Ops 7 is that the game features wall-jumping, which affords players new ways to get around the map. Nuketown is a small-size map known for its fast and frenetic action, and with wall-jumping now in play, things might get even more hectic.

Fortnite Can Start Hosting Standalone Games Next Year

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 04:22

Epic Games is teaming up with Unity to support the popular game engine within Fortnite. Eventually, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney said, this partnership will allow "all Unity games" to be published within Fortnite. That means even games that weren't designed for Fortnite should work, and this move could pave the way for Epic to fully incorporate Fall Guys into Fortnite.

"Starting next year, Unity developers will be able to publish games directly into Fortnite to appear in Fortnite’s discovery system alongside games built with Unreal Engine and to participate in the Fortnite economy as it evolves towards an open metaverse economy connecting all users and all engines," Sweeney said Wednesday at Unity's Unite conference.

This is major news for developers, who will be able to make things for Fortnite without using Epic's tools and may be able to import their existing games into Fortnite as well. And with the recent news that Epic will allow Creative maps to sell things for V-Bucks, these Unity devs might actually be able to sell their games in Fortnite.

How To Unlock The Free Cuddle Team Rider Fortnite Skin

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 03:34

It's the most wonderful time of the year for Fortnite players who like free stuff. While Epic regularly offers free in-game items for completing quests or leveling up, the company tends to really ramp up its charitable giving toward the end of the year--and our first truly free skin of the season is Cuddle Team Rider, which you can earn as part of the Winter Rush event, which runs through the end of the season on November 29.

The Cuddle Team Rider skin is free for those who complete nine of Fortnite's Winter Rush quests.

This event is basically the same thing as previous "Rush" events. Each day, you'll have two new quests that require you to gain 80,000 XP (exactly one account level) in specific types of Fortnite experiences while in a party with at least one friend. Each quest completed unlocks one cosmetic, starting with the jam track Acelerada by MXZI--the Cuddle Team Rider skin will unlock once you've completed nine (9) of them. The other free rewards include an animated wrap, an emote, and a back bling and pickaxe that match Cuddle Team Rider.

The quests alternate between making you play Epic-developed experiences and trying out various types of Fortnite Creative maps. On the first day, the two quests we have are to gain XP in Festival or Rocket Racing, and gain XP in Tycoon creator-made islands. The rest of the quests aren't yet available, but you can expect to find new ones each day.

TGA Performer, Fortnite Gamer D4vd Reportedly Identified As Murder Suspect

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 03:32

David Anthony Burke, who began his music career as D4vd after uploading Fortnite montages to YouTube with his own original songs in 2021, has reportedly been identified as a suspect in the murder of Celeste Rivas.

According to TMZ, law enforcement said that despite there being no official paperwork classifying Burke as a suspect yet, "investigators are looking at [him] as a suspect." Those same investigators reportedly claimed they're viewing Rivas' death as a homicide while waiting on toxicology results from the medical examiner's office.

An NBC Los Angeles report corroborates TMZ, stating that an LAPD officer with direct knowledge of the investigation said Burke has been uncooperative with the investigation and that he likely had help with dismembering and disposing of Rivas' body this past spring. According to law enforcement, who spoke to NBC News, Rivas' remains were not intact when discovered.

CoD: Black Ops 7 Patch Notes Detail Campaign And Zombies Fixes

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 03:21

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 received a small update on November 18. It's less than a week after launch, but Treyarch is already working to make improvements to the game. The patch notes mostly detailed fixes for the game's campaign and Zombies mode, but stability improvements were included for multiplayer.

The developer addressed a campaign issue that allowed some events to lose their progress when players left the activity area. Unfortunately, the patch notes didn't specify if this is for the campaign's Endgame mode or the objectives found in the actual campaign missions. However, it did mention a fix for an issue that previously caused players to get stuck on a black screen specifically when loading into Endgame.

For Zombies, the update fixed the Equivalent Exchange augment for the Quick-Revive perk. Treyarch said the augment wasn't reviving downed players after dealing enough damage as intended, but it should be working properly now. It also corrected a visual bug that allowed Aether Shroud's afterimage to exist longer than intended.

Fallout Creator Says Modern Games Are Going Through An Identity Crisis

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 03:02

Veteran RPG developer and Fallout co-creator Tim Cain argues that modern games have forgotten some lessons of history--a point he made in a recent YouTube video--you can watch the full video below--responding to a viewer's question about whether older titles contain any supposed lost wisdom. Cain's answer--"Yes, there is. Good question." Looking back at his own early years in the industry, he describes an era with only programmers and some artists, but no narrative designers, and far fewer competing priorities. In contrast, he says today's games "try to be everything to everyone."

In about 13 minutes, Cain explains how he attributes the sharp focus of early games to the era's severe technical limitations and fragmented hardware landscape. "Games were being made for PC, for Apple, for Atari, for Commodore, for a wild assortment of consoles," he recalled, with no shared standards to ease development. Teams were small and multitasking was essential--programmers often acted as artists and sound designers, reverse-engineering undocumented hardware to make their games function.

"These games were really focused, because they had to be," he explained.

The Game Awards Website Crashed After 10 Million Votes In First 24 Hours, But Is Recovering Now

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 02:56

The nominations for this year's The Game Awards were announced earlier this week, and fans can place their votes on which games they want to see take home this year's awards. The demand for this was strong, so much so that The Game Awards website crashed--now, organizer and host Geoff Keighley has apologized for the website's struggles and said work was done to improve the experience.

"We've seen truly unprecedented levels of global voting activity for The Game Awards this year--tens of millions of votes in the first 24 hours alone. I know some of you have experienced errors and lag while voting, and I want to apologize," he said.

Keighley went on to say that his teams have been "working around the clock" to help "improve the experience" for people looking to cast their vote online. Voting is open until December 10, so no one needs to rush to vote, Keighley reminded people.

How Are The Game Awards Winners Decided?

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 02:40

The Game Awards return this December, but how were the nominees selected and who determines the games that actually win? And does the public have any say? All of these are questions you might be wondering ahead of the event next week, and here's what we know about the key details.

What games are eligible?

To be eligible for The Game Awards this year, games must be "available for public consumption" on or before Friday, November 21. Any game releases after then will be eligible for next year's show. This also means that games released on or after November 22, 2024 are eligible for this year's event.

Live-service games that released in a previous year are eligible for all categories, provided the voting jury determines that "their inclusion is merited due to new content, improvements, or service updates." There is also a dedicated category, Best Ongoing Game, which recognizes such titles.
