Borderlands 4 Dev Gearbox Says "We Suck," And Here's Why
Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has declared, "We suck" following the launch of the studio's latest game, Borderlands 4. Why does he believe that? In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, Pitchford said Gearbox's mission is "to entertain the world," and the company is only currently reaching a small piece of the pie.
"There are billions of people in the world. We got a lot of work to do. We're gonna cross probably 100 million units sold, with Borderlands 4, of the franchise. That's awesome compared to a lot of things. But it kinda sucks if your goal is to entertain the world. So I feel like we're just getting started," he said, as reported by IGN.
Pitchford said that now, in 2025, Gearbox is finally "starting to get pretty good" at making Borderlands games after nearly 20 years. "It feels like we're starting to figure it out. I feel like we've probed a lot of the end points. But I don't think we're anywhere near the end of a journey," he said.

The Long Walk: A Novel by Stephen King
See at AmazonThe Running Man: A Novel by Stephen King
See at AmazonStephen King has published roughly 65 novels, a dozen short story collections, and several book-length pieces of nonfiction. Most of his novels have been reissued countless times in paperback, but they almost always begin their rapid climb up the bestseller charts in hardcover. Constant readers who have picked up the author's books at launch likely have multiple shelves filled with hardcover editions. But even the most dedicated of King fans are missing at least a few of his novels in hardcover by default. Two of those gaps can now be filled thanks to a pair of welcome surprises from King's publisher Scribner. The Running Man and The Long Walk are now available in separate hardcover editions for the first time.
The Long Walk's hardcover edition was published October 7 for $29, while The Running Man released in hardcover today, October 14. Like many reissued King books, these new editions were prompted by the new film adaptations. The Long Walk's first-ever adaptation is in theaters now, and the second adaptation of The Running Man premieres November 14. King's books typically receive movie tie-in paperback editions, but these two classics have a unique publication history and missed out on the traditional hardcover to paperback pipeline.
So, why didn't these novels release in hardcover back then? Because Richard Bachman wrote them. From 1977-1982, King released four novels under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Since his alias was a completely unknown author, The Long Walk (1979), The Running Man (1982), Rage (1977), and Roadwork (1981) were published as paperback originals. Bachman's true identity was uncovered following the release of Thinner, the fifth Bachman novel, in 1984. Thinner was the first Richard Bachman book to receive a standalone hardcover edition, while the first four were collected in a hardcover omnibus in 1985.

Lego Icons: Tropical Aquarium (4,154 pieces)
Preorder at Lego StoreAn aquarium can be a striking addition to any room's decor, but it can be expensive--and precarious--to maintain. Luckily, Lego is launching a new Lego Icons Tropical Aquarium set later this year that could add the aquatic vibe to your room without the need for water, and at a comparatively lower price point. That said, it'll still cost you--preorders for the 4,154-piece set are available for $480. If you're part of Lego's free Insider program, you'll also receive the Lego Fish Tank Filter and Fish Food set for free--valued at $20--as a preorder bonus. You'll also get the Aquarium set three days early on November 13. It'll launch worldwide for everyone else starting November 16.
Lego Icons: Tropical Aquarium (4,154 pieces) $480 | Releases November 16This set is all about creating a thriving aquarium ecosystem full of tropical fish. The finished aquarium measures over 20 inches wide and features brick-based replicas of real-life fish like rainbowfish, angelfish varieties, and a special striped brickfish created by the Lego Designers team. Each one has mechanical elements that allow it to wiggle and "swim" through the aquarium. There's also a hiding crab, moving anemones, and a crank-operated treasure chest.
Preorder at Lego StoreThis isn't the first time that Lego has released a fish tank set, but this new build dwarfs the Lego Creator Fish Tank kit by several thousand bricks. It's also no longer available, as it was retired some time ago--so this new set is your only option if you're looking for a Lego aquarium.
If fish don't grab your attention, you can prepare for the end of the year with a Lego Advent calendar. Like previous releases, these offer 24 miniature builds--one per day in December--themed around franchises like Star Wars, Minecraft, Lego City, and Lego Friends.

One of the year's best indie games, Blue Prince, is getting an official physical PS5 release on November 21. Until now, it was only available digitally on consoles and PC, but fans can now preorder this new PS5-exclusive Blue Prince physical edition for just $35 at Amazon. While the digital version of the game is also available on Xbox Series X and PC, PS5 is the only confirmed physical version--which isn't surprising, since that seems to be the case with most physical indie game releases these days. Along with the base game, physical copies will include an exclusive poster. Preordering also gets you a digital version of the game's soundtrack. It's probably wise to grab an early copy soon if you're interested--preorders for the Blue Prince PS5 edition initially went live about a month ago, and the first wave quickly sold out, so there's a chance this could disappear again soon.

The last big content drop for Helldivers 2 added new toys to play with and sandboxes to wreak havoc in, but with persistent player grievances about poor performance, studio Arrowhead is delaying future content updates to tackle these issues.
Speaking in a video interview for the Helldivers 2 YouTube channel, game director Mikael Eriksson admitted that after the Into the Unjust update in September, which added terrifying new enemies and labyrinthian cave systems, the game experienced "more issues than [the studio] were comfortable with."
Eriksson said that feedback from players was "very justified," and that the team was taking the issues seriously "to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again."

The Templars really seem to have it out for Assassin's Creed Shadows on Switch 2, as another apparent leak has now provided a release date for the port. It's looking like the action-adventure game could come to Nintendo's new system on December 5.
Spotted by VGC, Dealabs reports that Assassin's Creed Shadows will arrive digitally and physically on Switch 2 in December. The boxed version lines up with the French retailer listing for the action-adventure game from yesterday, which noted it will be on a Game Key Card. These have been controversial since they require a download rather than including the game on the physical cartridge. However, Ubisoft has defended them previously for performance reasons with Star Wars Outlaws because cartridges aren't as fast for streaming in-game worlds compared to digital storage solutions.
The leaked release date also comes with a price tag of 50 euros, which could convert to roughly $50 in the US, but this would be a significant price drop compared to other platforms. The box art shows the standard edition of Assassin's Creed Shadows. With Star Wars Outlaws, which retails for $60, Switch 2 got the Gold Edition (includes Season Pass) for that open-world title.

Team Cherry has rolled out a small new patch for Hollow Knight: Silksong. The update is focused on bug fixes and controller-support improvements (especially on PC and Mac), while larger adjustments will likely come in the future. For instance, the patch notes do state that more controller fixes are on the way. Please do be aware that some of the adjustments could be considered spoilers.
On Steam, the first change listed for Silksong version 1.0.28891 is the addition of DualSense Edge support, the premium PS5 wireless controller with mappable back buttons. Mac players are also receiving "improved support for various controllers," and Team Cherry has made it where Silksong will pause now when a controller is disconnected.
A bunch of bugs have been stomped out, such as out-of-bounds situations and an issue with using a Silkeater while swimming. There is a bit of balance tweaking, too. Team Cherry has lessened Hornet's "Thread Storm damage at higher needle levels," for example.

It's understandable if Xbox users feel a little skittish about the future of the console, given the recent price increases for Xbox consoles in the US, as well as formerly exclusive titles heading to PlayStation 5. Over the holiday weekend, there were so many anecdotal rumors about Target, Walmart, and other US retailers pulling Xbox consoles and games that Microsoft decided it was necessary to debunk these reports.
"Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games," a Microsoft spokesperson told Windows Central. The outlet went on to suggest that the rumors may have been born out of Costco's apparent decision to remove everything Xbox-related from its digital storefront ahead of the price hikes.
Microsoft has previously fielded rumors that Xbox is abandoning hardware, as exemplified by Asus handling the release of the ROG Xbox Ally handheld devices. However, Xbox VP Jason Ronald told the press that the company remains committed to its next generation hardware.

Battlefield 6 is clearly off to the races if its domination of the Steam charts are any indication. Over the course of its launch weekend, EA's latest and greatest multiplayer shooter put up remarkable numbers, cresting over 740,000 concurrent players regularly. And while the game is still pretty fresh, it has impressively retained a great deal of players at all times, rarely dropping below about 200,000 active players at any given point.
On Steam at least, Battlefield 6 boasts the most concurrent players of any entry in the franchise, and it has ranked among Steam's most played games the entirety of the weekend. It is also the #1 top seller on Steam, which is especially prominent given the fact that the base game is going for a whopping $70. I think it's safe to say that all that momentum Battlefield 6 has been enjoying has turned it into the series' first bonafide hit in a long while.
I think this Sunday will be good in terms of how many of you all are playing BF6! New record? I hope so!
— David Sirland (@tiggr_) October 12, 2025Despite the momentum that Battlefield 6 had going into the weekend after its launch--a holiday weekend, no less--it wasn't able to beat out its peak of 747,000+ players, which it achieved right at release on October 10. Still, Battlefield 6's early Steam numbers are good enough to beat out Call of Duty's all-time high on the platform, which is currently sitting at about 492,000, as well as other major shooters on the market like Apex Legends and Helldivers 2.

Earlier this year, Xbox underwent a massive internal shift resulting in a number of projects getting canceled, a great deal of employees being laid off, and at least one studio closure. Among the damage done was the cancelation of Everwild, a third-person fantasy game that underwent a turbulent development cycle before having the plug pulled on it.
At the time of its cancelation, we'd only ever seen two trailers of the game. Details of the project outside of these atmospheric teasers were scarce and it seemed like we would hear very little after its untimely demise. Now though, it appears that screenshots of some early builds have leaked, at last giving players some idea of the game they'll never get to play.
First reported by MP1st, the screenshots come by way of an artist that once worked on the title at Rare, and reportedly resemble a version of the game close to its cancelation. In these screenshots, you can make out the game's cel-shaded art style, as well as some elements of its menu and UI, which detail some kind of farming/survival mechanics.

How To Get And Use The Grow A Garden Night Staff
How do you use the Grow A Garden Night Staff? Well, it’s one of several tools in your arsenal to attract specific mutations onto your plants. They all have a fixed number of charges, so once they’re used up, you’ll need another one to continue redirecting weather effects to your crops. This shouldn’t be an issue for those with billions of Sheckles lining their pockets. However, it can be expensive for those who may need these tools the most.
The thing is, aside from one of the Grow A Garden weather conditions that you can manipulate with these tools, the bonus multipliers you get aren’t worth very much on their own. However, stacking multiple Grow A Garden mutations on individual plants is how you can turn a regular crop into one that’s worth millions, if not billions of Sheckles. So if you want to maximize your fruit’s value, here is how to get the Grow A Garden Night Staff and the other weather-attraction tools.
The Sky Merchant always appears once every four hours, and he's the one who sells you the Night Staff.Where to get the Grow A Garden Night StaffThere are two places where you can get tools to attract weather, but only the Sky Merchant has the Grow A Garden Night Staff. To find him, you’ll need to wait for one of the spawning merchants to appear once every 30 minutes and hope it’s the Sky Merchant. It does always appear once every 4 hours, so if you’re patient, he’ll eventually land his balloon in your garden. Typically, the Sky Merchant will have at least one Night Staff in his inventory, but if you can grab a Star Caller, the Celestial multiplier is 120 times the base value of your current plant. This is way more than the Moonlit Fruit’s multiplier of just double, though the Night Staff can also give your fruit the Bloodlit mutation during Blood Moon weather.

As one of the first mutations you’ll probably get in Grow A Garden, Moonlit Fruit is somewhat easy to get if you know how. It may not be the most valuable mutation, only doubling each affected fruit’s value. However, they can get a large number of mutations simultaneously. So when combined with expensive plants and high-value mutations, such as Celestial or Sundried, the fruits you have are suddenly worth a fortune.
Heralded by the music changing to either Johann Debussy’s Clair De Lune or Eric Satie’s Gymnopédie No.1, this Grow A Garden weather condition is one of the few with a fixed time when it appears. Some items can help you focus the moon’s rays onto specific plants and pets that require no moon to spread this Grow A Garden mutation, so below are all the ways you can get Moonlit Fruit.
The Night Staff is one of those items that allows you to focus which of your plants to mutate with the Moonlit Mutation. How to get the Grow A Garden Moonlit mutationThe easiest way to get the Grow A Garden Moonlit mutation to your plants is to wait until a night cycle or the Shooting Stars weather appears. Night will always appear at the same six times in a day at 20:30, 00:30, 04:30, 08:30, 12:30, and 16:30 ET, and 17:30, 21:30, 01:30, 05:30, 09:30, and 13:30 PT.

Eloise is the proprietor of the Grow A Garden Gear Shop, and the selection of items she has for sale ranges from handy to essential. Some tools allow you to reconfigure your garden, harvest fruits from a single plant, or salvage seeds to replant them later. However, she also very occasionally has top-tier sprinklers that increase the size and mutation chance for your plants, and lollipops you can feed to your pets to level them up.
It’s not just those items that can be handy to purchase. For example, your Grow A Garden pets will benefit greatly from having a tasty treat to snack on, while some items are used to make sprays that give you the power to spread Grow A Garden mutations. You can use them to craft other items of note, such as lightning rods to inflict the Shocked mutation on specific plants or Anti Bee eggs to hatch rarer pets. Game Science is rolling out a new update for Black Myth: Wukong this week, starting with PlayStation 5 on October 13 before "gradually" moving on to Xbox Series X|S and PC. The developer is also letting players know that this is a massive file that may require them to free up some space.
In a post on Black Myth's official site, Game Science notes that the PS5 patch is going to need 93.5GB of free space. While players should be able to continue using the current version for now without any issues, the post suggests that they may have to delete and reinstall the game if there isn't sufficient room for the update.

Continue Reading at GameSpotSplinter Cell: Deathwatch Is A Sad Reminder That Ubisoft Has No Idea What To Do With Sam Fisher
There’s a scene in Splinter Cell: Deathwatch--Netflix's animated adaptation of Ubisoft's stealth game series--where Sam Fisher casually walks in front of a security camera. As a long-time Splinter Cell fan this irked me. The Sam Fisher I know would never do something so careless, even if it was intentional.
The thing is, the Sam Fisher I know and love doesn’t exist. Maybe he did in the early 2000s, but Ubisoft has pulled this character in so many different directions over the years and he’s been diluted. In 2006, they killed Sam’s daughter and sent him to prison. In 2010, they made him a fugitive, and revealed that his daughter is actually alive. In 2013, they soft-rebooted the franchise and in the process stripped Sam of his dry humor and charm. In 2020, they added a version of him to Rainbow Six: Siege. They even put Sam in the most recent Ghost Recon games, and had the legendary Michael Ironside reprise the role. It's clear that although Ubisoft hasn’t forgotten about Sam, they have no idea what to do with him.
A battered Sam Fisher aiming a gun toward the camera. This trend continues in Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, a new chapter in Sam’s long and turbulent history that arrives in the form of a Netflix series. Helmed by Derek Kolstad, writer on John Wick and Nobody, Deathwatch finds Sam off the grid in Poland. Portrayed by Liev Schreiber, this take on Sam feels hollow. He’s a man of few words, and everything he says is cold, direct, and calculated. He’s more in line with the Sam from 2013’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s than the original trilogy, and that’s disappointing.

In June, FBC: Firebreak became Remedy's first self-published game as the company attempted to expand its shared universe that includes Control and Alan Wake. Remedy has previously disclosed that Firebreak's sales came in below expectations, but the latest report indicates that the game will cost the company a very significant write down.
Ahead of Remedy's quarterly financial report on October 29, the company shared an update that it is on the hook for a €14.9 million loss or approximately $17,234,085. Remedy notes that this amounts to "a majority of the game’s capitalized development costs," before adding that the company's cash position hasn't been changed by this setback.
Firebreak ran into trouble out of the gate with 1,992 players on launch day, which turned out to be its peak. Those numbers have since drastically fallen to less than 100 concurrent players per day. Remedy subsequently acknowledged that players were particularly unhappy with the first hour of the game and promised to rectify its shortcomings with a future update.
