Twisted Metal Season 2 Star Anthony Mackie Is A Big Fan Of These Classic Games

Mon, 07/28/2025 - 23:00

When it comes to video games, Twisted Metal and Captain America actor Anthony Mackie prefers the classics over newer titles.

During a visit to the Twisted Metal set in Toronto, Mackie told GameSpot he doesn't enjoy modern games that involve running and gunning. Instead, he goes for games like Ms. Pac Man and The Simpsons Arcade Game.

In fact, when GameSpot spoke to Mackie in August 2024, he'd recently bought an original Simpsons Arcade Game machine.

Twisted Metal Stars Anthony Mackie And Stephanie Beatriz Set Up Season 2

Mon, 07/28/2025 - 23:00

Two years after Season 1, the second season of Twisted Metal, Peacock and Sony Pictures' streaming series adapted from Sony's Twisted Metal video game series, debuts this week. A lot happened in Season 1, and the main characters John Doe (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) are facing new challenges in Season 2. It puts a lot of focus on a vehicular-combat tournament--which will be known to people who played the games--organized by Anthony Carrigan's Calypso

GameSpot visited the Twisted Metal Season 2 set in Toronto and caught up with Mackie, Beatriz, and other members of the cast and crew to find out everything we could about what's on tap. Plenty of details remain under wraps for Season 2, but Mackie and Beatriz outlined some of what to expect. This story contains spoilers for Twisted Metal.

In Season 2, John successfully delivers the package from Raven (Neve Campbell), which earns him citizenship in New San Francisco. No longer is John getting his hands dirty and running dangerous missions--he's now in the safe and sterile confines of the city.

New The Lord Of The Rings: Return To Moria Expansion Announced For Later This Year

Mon, 07/28/2025 - 22:59

As announced yesterday during the Middle-earth: The Adventure Ahead panel at San Diego Comic Con, the survival crafting game The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is getting a brand new expansion. This new expansion, titled Durin's Folk, is very light on details though. It's currently slated for release in Q4, 2025, and a Steam post explains that you'll "continue the fight to restore Moria with an expanded end-game story, exciting new game mechanics, plus many unrevealed secrets!"

A small teaser trailer was also released, showing off a big empty hallway with a massive door being opened by a group of dwarves. Various characters speak over the trailer too, with one notably saying "Khazad-dum is the home of Durin's Folk." For some context, Khazad-dum is another name for Moria, so it sounds like this end-game focused expansion might actually be living up to the base game's subtitles. Durin is also one of the seven fathers of the dwarves, the original group of dwarves that founded the dwarven race, for any non-Lord of the Rings loreheads out there.

Return to Moria didn't receive an outstanding reception when it launched back in 2023, averaging a critics' score of 59 on Metacritic, and a user score of 6.8. The game appears to be doing better on Steam these days, with a very positive rating across all of its reviews.

Skate Reboot Has Over 1 Million Sign-Ups For Latest Playtest

Mon, 07/28/2025 - 20:54

EA's upcoming Skate reboot was announced just over five years ago, but the long wait apparently hasn't diminished interest in the game. Over 1 million players have signed up for the latest Skate playtest, and that's a milestone for EA.

According to EA, the eye-popping represents the biggest playtest sign-up in the history of the company. Although sign-ups are currently closed, EA indicated that everyone who registered for the current playtest will get their invitation by the end of July.

The original Skate was released in 2007, but the series had been on ice since Skate 3 in 2010. In 2020, EA announced that a Skate reboot was in development. The new title isn't following the same single-player path as the original trilogy. Instead, Skate will be a free-to-play game with live-service elements. Developer Full Circle recently revealed that Skate will require a constant internet connection because it was developed as a multiplayer sandbox title.

Nobody Star Bob Odenkirk Knows Exactly How He'd Kill Mario If They Fought

Mon, 07/28/2025 - 20:51

Better Call Saul and Mr. Show actor Bob Odenkirk usually comes off as a mild-mannered person in real life, but in an interview, Odenkirk spoke about just how his character of Hutch Mansell from the Nobody movies would fight, maim, and kill Nintendo's mascot Mario.

"I'll kill Mario, I'll tear that mustache off his face, jam it down his throat, take his swimming goggles, rip them to pieces, and stab him with those. It's gonna be bloody," Odenkirk said to IGN during San Diego Comic-Con.

Other pop-culture icons that would face the wrath of Hutch include most of the Brady Bunch family and--rightfully--Alvin and the Chipmunks. "I will step on them and crush them under my foot," Odenkirk said about the cinematic vermin. You'll hear the bones and the gush inside their bodies. And you're going to cheer."

8BitDo's reimagined Nintendo 64 wireless controller launches next Wednesday, July 30. The controller manufacturer confirmed the release date in an email to GameSpot. The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller was revealed alongside the Analogue 3D last October. Analogue's 4K Nintendo 64 has been delayed twice, and since the new gamepad was designed in collaboration with the retro hardware manufacturer, the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth has been pushed back twice, too.

Though designed with the Analogue 3D in mind, the controller supports PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android. If you're a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriber, the new controller will offer a cool new way to play classic N64 games. Marvel Legends Spider-Man Mask Looks Cool And Kinda Creepy

Sat, 07/26/2025 - 06:51
Preorder at Amazon Preorder at Entertainment Earth

Everyone has their preferred cinematic incarnation of Spider-Man, and each one has its own unique charms, but one element Tom Holland's MCU Spider-Man nailed is the expressiveness of the hero's eyes while wearing the iconic red suit. It's an effect that many cosplayers put hours of effort into replicating, but thanks to this new Spider-Man Homecoming Animated Mask from the Marvel Legends Series, you can achieve the webslinger's animated eyes with minimal effort. The new replica, which launches on September 1, features moving eye pieces that you can easily control to change the size and angle of the mask's eyes on the, er... fly. If you're interested in adding the collectible to your cosplay wardrobe or Marvel merch collection, you can preorder the Marvel Legends Series Spider-Man Homecoming Animated Mask for $130 on Amazon and Entertainment Earth.

Marvel Legends Series Spider-Man Homecoming Animated Mask $130 | Releases September 1

The Marvel Legends Series Spider-Man: Homecoming Animated Mask is based on Peter Parker's Iron Spider suit seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Unlike many replica superhero masks and helmets, this one is a full mask made of flexible silicone fabric that covers the wearer's entire head and neck, and is molded to fit around the chin for a movie-accurate look.

As mentioned above, the mask features moving eye parts that are controlled via an included wireless remote. You can select between eight pre-configured eye expressions and five programmed routines that cycle between different movements, or manually control them.

The mask measures 10.25 inches tall and 7.25 inches wide. A display stand is also included--so even if you don't plan to wear it, you can show it off as a cool set piece in your collection.

Preorder at Amazon Preorder at Entertainment Earth

Note that while Amazon lists September 1 as the launch date, Entertainment Earth has a more vague October 2025 release date. We're assuming that will be updated to match Amazon's ahead of launch, but in case you're looking to get it as soon as possible, it might be worth sticking with Amazon in case those orders do, in fact, ship earlier. Since Amazon doesn't charge until orders ship, you can always order now and cancel later if you change your mind.

The Marvel Legends Series includes numerous other premium collectibles, from action figures and statues to props and accessories. If you're looking for more replica masks and helmets, there are several models available now, including heroes like Iron Man, War Machine, and Star Lord, and Villains like the Green Goblin. Like the upcoming Spider-Man mask, these are all high-quality replicas that cover your entire head and feature screen-accurate designs, making them perfect as a part of a cosplay outfit or merch display.

Finding the best weapon loadout in Killing Floor 3 is easier said than done. The feature is a first for the series, and with it comes a plethora of new guns to learn and get used to. With a total of 24 primary weapons--four for each of the six perks--some guidance is necessary.

In order to craft mods, you'll need to gather resources. This is a time-consuming task, meaning that investing in the wrong places can cost you. It is possible to recycle crafted mods, but only for a fraction of the original cost. Don't fret, though, as we've gathered the best weapon loadouts in Killing Floor 3, picking the most essential option for each perk in the process.

Table of Contents [hide]Best Weapon Loadout for the Commando Perk

Most weapons in Killing Floor 3 have a futuristic twist, but the SCAR EIR gets fairly close to the traditional guns of old. This assault rifle touts high precision, with relatively low recoil. It's a great all-rounder option that's on a high tier but doesn't cost as much as the Knightsbridge. That being said, handling, recoil, and penetration power are quite low.

Wolfenstein TV Series In The Works From Same Company Behind Fallout Show

Sat, 07/26/2025 - 02:42

After conquering the wasteland of Fallout with a well-received TV series, Wolfenstein is the next big project in development at Amazon. The upcoming TV series is being led by Fallout producer Kilter Films and Patrick Somerville, under his Chaoticgood.TV production banner. Jerk Gustafsson from current Wolfenstein games developer MachineGames will also help executive produce the project.

According to Variety, details on the project and its plot remain locked up for now, but it looks like the core premise of killing Nazis is being kept intact. The Wolfenstein video game series has been around since 1981, and 1992's Wolfenstein 3D from developer Id Software is credited as one of the key games that helped popularize first-person-shooters in the '90s.

In recent times, MachineGames rebooted the series for a new generation, starting with 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order. Amazon's adaptation will likely use this incarnation of Wolfenstein as the foundation for the show, considering that MachineGames is involved.

By Azura, Oblivion Remastered Has Surpassed 9 Million Players

Sat, 07/26/2025 - 02:40

Bethesda Game Studios is thanking players--all 9 million of them--for checking out The Elder Scrolls VI: Oblivion Remastered. The milestone comes just a bit over three months since the RPG arrived on April 22. It's worth noting that the game surprise-launched on Game Pass for PC and Xbox Series X|S, alongside digital versions on those platforms plus PS5.

The Oblivion Remastered achievement was shared on BlueSky by Bethesda, with the company adding: "Thank you for sharing in our worlds." Developer Virtuos was actually behind the new version of the game, which originally launched in 2006 on PC and Xbox 360. The studio saw mass layoffs earlier this month, including job cuts at the French office of Virtuos that worked on Oblivion Remastered.

To everyone who emerged as a hero of Kvatch, mastered Arch-Mage, rose to Grand Champion, banished the Blackwood Company, gallivanted as the Gray Fox, and listened to the Night. Thank you for sharing in our worlds. ❤️

Troy Baker Admits Playing Joel In The Last Of Us Taught Him To Be A Better Actor

Sat, 07/26/2025 - 02:26

Troy Baker has voiced some of the greatest video game characters of all time. Not even including taking over Harrison Ford's role as Indy in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, he also has played Sam Drake in Uncharted, Booker DeWitt in Bioshock: Infinite, Higgs in Death Stranding, and of course, Joel Miller in The Last of Us.

During a panel at GalaxyCon New Orleans earlier this month, Baker was asked if playing Joel had affected him personally. He said it had actually affected him "deeply" in many different ways, including feeling "woefully unprepared" for the part.

"There's nothing worse, and I hope that no one ever feels this, but do you ever show up to something and go 'I am so woefully unprepared for this'? And, it's not impostor syndrome, it's a fact," he said. "You are not equipped to do the thing that you are about to do. You could be like, 'let's go bungee jumping!', and then you get on the platform and you go, 'I can't do this'. That was The Last of Us for me. You get the gig, and then you go, 'oh no, I have to deliver this'."
