Mortal Kombat 1 Gets The Definitive Edition Treatment And It's Out Now
Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition has been announced by its developer NetherRealm Studios. Inside, you'll find the base Mortal Kombat 1 game, the Khaos Reigns story expansion, the two Kombat Packs that introduced several new characters to the roster, and Mortal Kombat movie character skins for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage, Kitana, Liu Kang, and Shao Kahn.

Developer GSC Game World has announced that Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition, a remaster of the first three games in the Stalker series, is coming on May 20 for consoles and PC.
The Enhanced Edition provides a fresh coat of paint to last year's Legends of the Zone bundle. Encompassing Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat, this title introduces players to the original experiences in the Stalker series. The remaster, coming next week, boasts updated lighting and reflections, upscaled textures, improved water effects and skyboxes, and upscaled cinematics. Finally, both console and PC players will now be able to take advantage of mods created by the Stalker community.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the trilogy has also received a set of performance options for players to take advantage of the consoles. PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X players can choose between Quality (4K/30 FPS), Balanced (upscaled 4K/40 FPS), Performance (upscaled 4K/60 FPS), and Ultra Performance (upscaled 2K/120 FPS) modes. The new version will include upgrades like Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, improved graphics, and shorter load times. Folks who already own the game can upgrade to the Switch 2 edition for just $10, while preorders for the physical Game-Key Card version are available now for $60 at multiple online retailers.
Hogwarts Legacy - Switch 2 Edition $60 | Releases June 5This updated version of Hogwarts Legacy is the same open-world action RPG as the one released in 2023. However, it makes a few big upgrades thanks to the additional processing power on Switch 2. For one, it offers improved graphics and shorter load times. You’ll also benefit from crisper audio, reworked controls, and support for the Joy-Con 2 mouse sensor.

You'll need to download the game to your console before you can play.
As mentioned above, players who already own Hogwarts Legacy on Switch can upgrade for just $10. That means it might be worth hunting down a cheap copy of Hogwarts Legacy on Switch ahead of time, then dropping an additional $10 to upgrade to the Switch 2 version. If you want to go that route, Hogwarts Legacy is on sale for just $18 (was $60) on the Switch eShop. Once it’s in your library, you’ll be able to upgrade to a Switch 2 copy for an extra $10--meaning you'll pay just $28 total, rather than $60.
Continue Reading at GameSpotFOMO Has "Infected" Many Modern Games, Remedy Says
FBC: Firebreak developer Remedy is pushing back against what it's observed to be a rise in games being developed with "FOMO," that is, fear of missing out, in mind. Speaking to GameSpot, game director Mike Kayatta said the team tried to design FBC to become a manageable game that places an emphasis on "controlling the value space."
That is to say, Kayatta believes some games that give off vibes of being "enormous in scope" can lead to a couple potential outcomes from players. One is that a player might go "all the way in" and dedicate lots of time and money. A second category of players might find the perceived time sink to be too enormous and simply play something else instead.
FBC aims to be a game that people can pick up and play in short bursts, at a modest price point ($40). The game is also included in Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus from day one, which in theory should help it reach a potentially larger audience.

There probably aren't many people who expected Riders Republic to get a movie adaptation. But Ubisoft is indeed planning to bring the extreme sports game to the silver screen, with a notable directing duo now attached to the project.
Deadline reports Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah--known as Adil and Bilall--have signed on for Riders Republic. The filmmakers have helmed the last two entries in the Bad Boys franchise: 2020's Bad Boys for Life and 2024's Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The pair also directed two episodes of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, as well as served as executive producers on the MCU project. Adil and Bilall worked within the DC Universe as well, directing Batgirl. But Warner Bros. infamously shelved the movie, even though it was finishing filming.
Following Deadline's report, Ubisoft officially confirmed the Riders Republic movie. "Set on the snowy slopes of the Alps, the film will deliver non-stop thrills, humor, and spectacular stunts," Ubisoft said.

Western Digital's new NVMe SSD hits speeds surpassing just about everything else on the market at the moment. The WD Black SN8100 can read 14,900MB per second while also offering write speeds of up to 14,000MB (14GB). Available in three different capacities, the SN8100 is geared toward users with high-end gaming PC rigs. Though you could add a heatsink to the SN8100 and install it in your PS5, the SN8100's performance far exceeds the requirements for PlayStation's console.

The lineup uses Western Digital’s latest NAND technology for added reliability, and with an endurance up to 2,400 TBW, you can expect to use the drives for a long time before running into any hiccups.

Early reviews for the SSD have been nothing short of stellar, with critics and fans pointing out its wonderful performance, rapid load times, and reliability. They're also more power-efficient than PCIe 4.0 alternatives from WD Black.
This SSD is about as premium as it gets--but that doesn’t necessarily mean it's the the right for your rig. And if you’re working on a budget, its price tag might put it out of reach. Thankfully, there are plenty of other great SSDs to consider. From older WD Black products to those from Samsung, Crucial, and Lexar, here's a list of popular NVMe SSDs to check out. The Super Mario Bros. movie was one of the biggest releases in 2023, and we know the filmmakers are going to broaden the scope for the sequel. While we're still just shy of a year out from its release on April 3 next year, the Super Mario Bros. sequel still doesn't have a confirmed name--or does it? The film was mentioned in a press release with the title, but was quickly edited.
However, fans quickly were able to screencap and archive the article with the title, as part of NBCUniversal's media plan for the next year: Super Mario World.

Kojima Reveals Either An Amazing Or Horrible Game Idea
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach writer-director Hideo Kojima is full of game ideas. Speaking on his podcast (via IGN), Kojima said he's intrigued by the idea of a "forgetting game" where the player would have to get through a game quickly to make the most of it.
The character would forget important information and lose certain abilities if people stopped playing for a long enough time. For example, if you didn't play this game every day, the character would forget things like "how to fire their gun or what their job is," and with enough time away, the player would forget how to even move.
Whether or not Kojima has explored this concept in any real way beyond discussing it is unknown, however. For now, it seems to be just that--a concept that he may or may not ever explore.

Continue Reading at GameSpotHere's How FBC: Firebreak Fits Into The Remedy Connected Universe
When FBC: Firebreak arrives on June 17, it will be the latest game to add to the Remedy Connected Universe. It's inherently a Control spin-off, even being set in the same liminal bureaucratic maze known as the Oldest House, so there's no question whether it would contribute to Remedy's Marvel-like spider web of storytelling, but after speaking to the team, we now know a bit more about how it will contribute to that connected universe.
We know the game is set six years after the events of Control. Like the 13 real-time years between both the fictional events and releases of Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2, the time between 2019's Control and 2025's FBC: Firebreak will mirror the real world. In that span, the Oldest House has remained locked down and the Hiss did not let up.
That's meant anyone outside of the building hasn't been able to get in, apparently. Worse, it means the unfortunate agents who were inside the shapeshifting hub that day have spent more than half a decade stuck inside with the Hiss threat. In gameplay terms, this will see player-characters running low on standard-issue supplies, resulting in them improvising with unique weapons and gear for the three-player co-op game. Still, since the game is without cutscenes or heavy exposition, lore devotees like me might wonder what else the game can teach them about the RCU. Don't worry, game director Mike Kayetta told GameSpot; there's still material there to be investigated.
Continue Reading at GameSpotRemedy's Control Spin-Off, FBC: Firebreak, Takes Inspiration From A Surprising Source
FBC: Firebreak is Remedy's first multiplayer game, and it's jumping into the well-occupied space of co-op PvE shooters. That means it has the benefit of looking to predecessors in the genre to understand what works, what doesn't, and in what ways Firebreak can stand out from the pack. I always love learning about which games developers looked to when making theirs, so I recently asked Remedy's Mike Kayetta, game director on FBC: Firebreak, to talk about the games the team looked at to help guide the scope and style of Remedy's upcoming shooter.
Helldivers 2 was a big help, which makes sense given its popularity. Remedy observed how the team at Arrowhead was able to navigate the ups and downs of the ludicrous third-person shooter to somewhat inform best practices for a game like FBC: Firebreak. Kayetta told me that it helped when Remedy asked, "What's working for them, what's not working for them?". But it was far from the only such game the team looked at. Kayetta name-dropped several games that the team would play together for "analysis" in the studio. Many of them make perfect sense as soon as you learn them.
"If it's a session-based co-op shooter, we've played it into the ground," he said, listing off a parade of recent co-op games including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Deep Rock Galactic, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Vermintide, and Darktide. Like Helldivers 2, none of those were all that surprising, but one immediately stuck out the moment Kayetta said it. "We had some interesting additional reference points, too. We looked at Overcooked quite a bit, because we wanted to see--like, that is such a fun type of chaos, where things get out of hand, but you still feel like you have meaningful agency despite things feeling out of hand."
