Darksiders 4: Release Date Info, Story, Trailer, And Everything Else We Know

Game News - Sun, 09/07/2025 - 02:00

Darksiders 4 was officially announced in 2025 during a showcase for developer THQ Nordic, and many longtime fans of the franchise are curious about its release date, story, and gameplay. The last time we saw the Darksiders franchise was in 2019 with the release of Darksiders Genesis, a prequel to the original trilogy. This game was met with positive reviews from critics and fans alike, but after radio silence from THQ Nordic for several years, many players thought it could be the last time we'd see the Four Horsemen in action.

Now, with Darksiders 4 confirmed, we finally get to see what THQ Nordic has been cooking up all of this time. We know the Four Horsemen are returning and picking up where they left off at the conclusion of the original Darksiders, but what else do we know about the fourth installment in the franchise? You can check out everything we know about Darksiders 4 in the guide below.

When will Darksiders 4 be released?

While we did get the reveal of Darksiders 4, THQ Nordic still has not given us a release date for the new action-RPG. Right now, the current release date is "to be announced," and there's no indication as to when an announcement is expected.

Disney x Fortnite: Everything We Know So Far

Game News - Sun, 09/07/2025 - 01:00

In early 2024, Disney invested more than a billion dollars in Fortnite creator Epic Games and announced some sort of new Disney-powered metaverse experience. We've already seen a few aspects of this deal come to fruition, like Fortnite skins for the Incredibles and the Disney Villains, plus new Marvel and Star Wars-themed seasons. There's been a lot of Disney in Fortnite since that announcement, in other words.

But the big Disney x Fortnite metaverse mode has yet to see the light of day, and the project remains shrouded in mystery. Let's take a look at what we know about it so far.

What actually is the Disney x Fortnite mode?

We don't really know. There's been no teaser images or videos, and nobody is talking about it in terms that we would consider concrete. But here's how Disney described it in the original announcement:

The Last Of Us Season 3: Release Date, Cast, And Everything We Know About The Hit HBO Series

Game News - Sun, 09/07/2025 - 00:00

Following the conclusion of The Last of Us Season 2, the show was nominated for 16 Emmy Awards, including Best Drama. The first season took home eight Emmy Awards in 2023, including guest-acting wins for Nick Offerman and Storm Reid.

Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal may have gone home empty handed from the show’s first night at the Emmys, but their respective turns as Ellie and Joel have given new life to the franchise that began as a pair of critically acclaimed video games by Sony.

Season 2 began the adaptation of The Last of Us Part 2, which introduced Kaitlyn Dever as Abby and controversially featured Joel’s murder at her hands. That fueled Ellie’s desire for revenge against Abby, which went horribly wrong in the Season 2 finale.

Astro Bot Is Becoming The Game Of A Generation

Game News - Sat, 09/06/2025 - 23:00

Astro Bot is celebrating its 1-year anniversary today, September 6, 2025. Below, we reflect on what the plucky robot has come to represent for some burgeoning gamers.

More than 30 years ago, I fell in love. I was visiting extended family with my parents and two siblings, and the object of my affection was a boxy gray-and-black video game console hooked up to an equally boxy CRT television. I had seen video games before in arcades, and had played some rudimentary Mac games on our family computer. But Super Mario Bros. was something else entirely. The simple but flexible controls, the stage variety, the music. By the time we left my aunt's house, we three children were staging a coordinated influence campaign to convince our parents to buy our own Nintendo Entertainment System, eager to play more Mario. The rest is history.

My story isn't unique. Lots of children of the 1980s have similar origins for their gaming obsession. But now, decades later, as a parent myself, I'm struck by how Astro Bot has enraptured my own kids in ways that remind me of my experience with Mario. Years in the future, it will almost certainly be Astro that they credit with first igniting their love of games.

Resident Evil: Release Date, Cast, And Everything Else We Know About The Reboot Movie

Game News - Sat, 09/06/2025 - 23:00

For most of the last two decades, the Resident Evil movies were defined by the six films directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, with Milla Jovovich in the leading role as Alice. Those movies made over $1 billion worldwide. However, the 2021 reboot, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, only earned $42 million worldwide.

Barbarian and Weapons director Zach Cregger has been given the reins for a brand-new Resident Evil movie. After co-founding the comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U' Know and starring in sitcoms, Cregger has emerged as one of the most successful horror directors of this generation. His involvement with this project sparked a bidding war, which was ultimately won by Sony Pictures, the studio that released the previous seven films in the franchise.

Many of the details about Cregger’s Resident Evil movie remain under wraps for now. But GameSpot has put together a guide to everything we know about the Resident Evil reboot so far.

Tron Movies Land On 4K Blu-Ray For The First Time With Collectible Steelbooks

Game News - Sat, 09/06/2025 - 13:49

With Tron: Ares arriving in theaters October 10, now is a great time to revisit The Grid. The new Tron movie is the third one set inside of that video game-inspired digital universe, and for the first time ever, you can watch the first two on 4K Blu-ray. Collectible Steelbook Editions of Tron and Tron: Legacy are available to preorder for $40 each at Amazon. Walmart was taking preorders earlier this week, but both films sold out within hours. You won't have to wait long to get your preorders either, as both Tron movies release September 16.

Tron Limited Edition Steelbook (4K Blu-ray) $40 | Releases September 16

The first Tron movie was released in 1982, and it was a revolutionary film as it pioneered new special effects and revolutionary computer-generated imagery for the time. The restoration of Tron was handled by The Walt Disney Film Restoration team, who corrected dirt, warping, and other imperfections to ensure pristine image quality, after digitally scanning the film for this 4K releases. The project was also supervised by Steven Lisberger, the writer-director of Tron.

The steelbook cover is also fantastic for this release, as it features a combination of film imagery and new art of the movie's cast. On the inside, you can also find a screenshot of the infamous lightcycle race scene from Tron, that was designed using bleeding-edge computer technology at the time. It might look quaint now, but in 1982, footage like this had never been seen or attempted before. The film also supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio, and the 4K disc is accompanied by a standard Blu-ray disc copy of the film and a digital streaming code for it.

For the bonus materials, this Tron release has inherited all the extras from the previous Blu-ray release. There's nothing new here, but all of the legacy content from the older Tron release did provide an exhaustive glimpse behind the curtain to see just how this technological marvel pushed filmmaking to the limit in the '80s. You can look forward to an audio commentary track with Lisberger and several crew members, featurettes, photo galleries, and promotional materials. The Making of Tron is especially good, as this is an 88-minute documentary covering the challenging development of the film.

Tron Special Features

  • Audio commentary with director Steven Lisberger, producer Donald Kushner, associate producer, visual effects supervisor Harrison Ellenshaw, and visual effects supervisor Richard Taylor.
  • The Tron Phenomenon featurette
  • Photo Tronology featurette
  • The Making of Tron documentary
  • Development featurettes
  • Digital Imagery featurette
  • Music featurette

Released in 2010, Tron Legacy was directed by Joseph Kosinski and it used advances in special effects technology to build a version of the Grid that truly felt like a digital frontier. This version of the movie has been remastered in High Dynamic Range from the original digital sources under the supervision of Kosinski, and it also includes Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio options. Like Tron, you're also getting standard Blu-ray and digital streaming code copies of the film alongside the 4K disc. The steelbook cover is also eye-catching, as it's a collage of characters and technology on the front and the rear, while the inside shows off a scene from the movie's evolved lightcycle race.

This edition also contains the legacy bonus features from the previous Blu-ray release, but again, these provide an incredibly detailed look behind the scenes of Tron: Legacy. Not only do you get a selection of documentaries and featurettes, but there's even a music video from the film's composers, award-winning duo Daft Punk. Sadly, there's no director's commentary audio track, but this is a pretty good collection of extras overall.

Tron Legacy Special Features

  • The Next Day: Flynn Lives Revealed interactive documentary
  • First Look at Tron: Uprising animated series featurette
  • Launching the Legacy featurette
  • Visualizing Tron FX featurette
  • Installing the Cast featurette
  • Disc Roars San Diego Comic Con panel
  • Daft Punk music video: Derezzed

If you've never watched the series, the Tron movies are set primarily in a digital world known as the Grid. The first film starred Jeff Bridges as a brilliant video game developer who is beamed into the Grid after hacking the mainframe computer of his ex-employer, and he finds that this dangerous world is part of the very game he was designing. Tron: Legacy arrived 28 years later, and it saw Flynn's son transported to the Grid, which was now under the control of sinister forces.

Tron 4k Steelbook Blu-ray

After the release of Tron Legacy, an interquel animated series was released in the form of Tron: Uprising. The show revolved around a young program named Beck, who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution against the corrupt regime led by the villainous Clu and his evil henchman, General Tesler. The show featured incredible animation and mature storytelling, and while it isn't available in a collected form on DVD or Blu-ray anymore, you can stream it on Prime Video or Disney Plus.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reduces File Size, Causes Problems For Players

Game News - Sat, 09/06/2025 - 10:25

File optimization for large games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 sounds like good idea, especially when more space is needed on consoles. The latest Black Ops 6 update went live this week and it appears to have significantly shrunk the file size. It's also caused issues with some players and seemingly deleted the game from their systems.

A member of GameSpot's staff shared screenshots that demonstrated a drop from 222.1 GB before the update to 122.8 GB afterwards.

On top is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 file size before the update, and the new file size is shown below.

However, there are multiple reports from players on Reddit that the update deleted Black Ops 6 from their consoles. The update apparently removed Black Ops 6's core installation and left behind the Call of Duty HQ launcher, which takes up a lot less space. Black Ops 6 can still be reinstalled alongside download content packs and the multiplayer suite. But given the large amount of added content purchased and downloaded by players since the game's debut, the amount of file size reduction might vary from player to player.

NBA 2K26 Review - Sweat Equity

Games Reviews - Sat, 09/06/2025 - 09:29

It's funny to see how much the topic of sweat has become a joke in the NBA 2K series. As far back as when the series first came to Xbox 360, I can recall players calling out the life-like perspiration seen on its in-game athletes. Today, that dedication to depicting authentic sweat is sometimes used to critique the game. Players will say--perhaps only half-jokingly--that Visual Concepts is too concerned with sweat and not focusing enough on other aspects of the annual basketball sim. In reality, I don't know of another sports gaming studio team that sweats the small stuff quite like the NBA 2K team. NBA 2K26 is another testament to that, with a lot of little improvements alongside a handful of big ones, collectively making this a game that can easily satisfy virtually any type of basketball fan there is.

On the court, the best change is the game's new motion engine, which follows from last year's new dribble engine and 2K24's introduction of "ProPlay," a system NBA 2K uses that transposes real-life basketball footage into in-game animations. The changes to the motion engine this year are obvious if you're an annual player. Movements are smoother and more authentic to the real world, and thus look better on the screen and feel better in your hands. I'd expected this to be a minor change when I'd first heard about it, but in playing it side by side with last year's game, it's more than subtle.

The transitions from one movement, like cutting through the paint, to something like stepping back and shooting a floater, are excellent. This change cuts way down on instances of players sort of floating to where they need to be, like they might in past games at times. Movement feels more physical and dynamic overall, and comfortably lends itself to the way Visual Concepts already mimics the unique play styles of its stars.
