Super Smash Bros. Amiibo Figures Are Discounted At Target
One of the coolest--and most affordable--Nintendo collectibles you can get right now is an Amiibo. These miniature figures capture the likeness of Nintendo's many recognizable characters from series like Super Mario, Kirby, and The Legend of Zelda. The most prolific of these Amiibo collections is the Super Smash Bros. line, which features dozens of characters based on their appearances in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Some of these figures can be hard to track down, but thanks to Target, you can save big on select Smash Bros. Amiibo for a limited time, including Mario, Pikachu, Samus, and many more. On average, you can save $5 - $10 per Amiibo figure, and each one is compatible with Super Smash Bros. and various other Switch and Switch 2 games, meaning you can scan in the characters to unlock bonus content, track battler stats, and more. Check out the full list of discounted Smash Bros. Amiibo below.

Our top recommendations here include Greninja, Wario, and Sheik, which ooze personality through their action-packed poses. Not only do these figures look great, but they can also battle in your stead in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. By simply tapping a compatible Amiibo to the NFC touchpoint on your Nintendo Switch Joy-Con or Pro controller, you'll get a figure player who'll appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and will fight on your behalf when you're away. These fighters can learn new abilities and tactics as they fight, and the more they battle, the more abilities they gain. They can be upgraded further, and when you're confident in their skills, you can send them out to battle against other players' amiibo fighters for you.
Of course, you'll need a copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for this, and you can grab one at a slight discount on Amazon during its Spring Sale. Normally $60, it's on sale for $54.71. This is entirely optional, so if you just want a cool pocket-sized collectible, then these Amiibo figures will look great on your shelf or desk. For more Nintendo deals, check out these specials on the high-end 8BitDo Ultimate 2 controllers and the kid-friendly Mario-themed peripherals that'll work with Switch consoles. These deals are part of Amazon's Spring Sale 2026, which runs until March 31--but we've seen many deals selling out already, so check them out while you can.

It's official: Running Man star Glen Powell is the voice of Fox McCloud in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Earlier this week, Nintendo revealed that the ace pilot of the Star Fox series will appear in the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but it left people guessing as to who exactly was voicing him.
That was until today, when the Top Gun: Maverick actor confirmed on his Instagram account that he was "born to Barrel Roll" and that he was providing his vocal talents to the film. The sequel already has a stacked cast, and includes the returning cast of Chris Pratt (Mario), Charlie Day (Luigi), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Keegan Michael-Key (Toad), and Jack Black (Bowser) alongside newcomers Brie Larson (Rosalina), Donald Glover (Yoshi), and Benny Safdie (Bowser Jr.).
It's unclear yet just how big Fox McCloud's role will be in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but his inclusion is a big surprise. Outside of the Smash Bros. fighting game franchise, McCloud has never visited the Mushroom Kingdom, and Nintendo generally keeps its franchises separate from one another. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie appears to be breaking those rules, as, alongside Star Fox, it looks like Pikmin will show up in the animated film.

Nintendo is expected to release a new Star Fox game in the summer and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, according to a new round of leaks.
Following the confirmation of Fox McCloud's appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Thursday, Nintendo fans speculated about whether or not the game series he's from could be making a return as well. Nate the Hate, a well-known insider who has accurately leaked details about Nintendo Directs in the past, confirmed that a new Star Fox game was in the works in a podcast.
According to Nate the Hate, it will be a "classic-style" Star Fox game with "very good" visuals and online multiplayer. The leaker didn't stop there, though, going on to explain that a new 3D Mario game wouldn't be coming out this year and that one of Nintendo's big games for the fall would be a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, among other lower-profile titles and Nintendo Switch 2 Editions.

Homelander Actor On Resident Evil Fancasting: "I Don't Even Know What It Is, Man."
Antony Starr--best known for his role as the manipulative, nefarious Homelander in The Boys--is apparently the ideal actor to play series antagonist Albert Wesker in a film adaptation of Resident Evil… according to fans, anyway. But Starr seems rather bewildered by the notion.
To be fair, Starr sort of brought this on himself. At a recent convention, a fan reportedly told him he'd make a great Wesker, and Starr apparently expressed interest in the role. But in a recent interview ahead of the fifth and final season of The Boys, Starr dialed back the enthusiasm.
"I don't even know what it is, man," Starr said of the Wesker role in a recent interview with ComicBook.com.

A new Resident Evil Requiem patch has gone live, and it's a big one. Alongside several gameplay improvements and changes to in-game facial expressions, the Resident Evil Requiem update adds a brand-new photo mode to the game, allowing you to easily snap images of your gameplay or set up the co-protagonists for a more action-packed shot--but we all know that the Leon S. Kennedy fandom is the real target market for this update.
Capcom had previously announced that new content--including the photo mode--was on the way after it celebrated a massive sales milestone for Resident Evil Requiem. The photo mode is fairly comprehensive, allowing you to pan around a character, change their pose and facial expression, apply filters, and add stickers to your composition. To activate it from the console, all you have to do is pause your gameplay and hit Square or X on your controller to open the mode up.
Capcom also noted that character expressions in several cutscenes have "been adjusted to better convey emotion." This is unrelated to the so-called "yassify filter" that Nvidia's DLSS 5 was recently demonstrated using games like Requiem. The exact implementation of that feature has yet to be confirmed, and DLSS 5 itself won't launch until later this year.

Actor Chris Pratt, who voices Mario in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, has revealed what he says is the correct way to pronounce the iconic character's name.
Appearing on The Tonight Show, Pratt said, "I can confirm, as the guy, it's maa·ree·ow." He added: "But don't feel bad if you have used 'marry-o'; a lot of people do that."
Pratt went on to say that Benny Safdie, who voices Bowser Jr., repeatedly pronounced Mario's name incorrectly while doing press for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and handlers had to step in to correct him.

Continue Reading at GameSpotEven In The Age Of The Steam Deck And The Switch, The Nintendo 3DS Is The Best Portable Console
The Nintendo 3DS is celebrating its 15-year anniversary today, March 27, 2025. Below, we look back at its design philosophy and how it differs from modern-day handheld counterparts like the Switch and Steam Deck.
Portable consoles are big now. The Steam Deck and its wave of competing devices are just PCs that you can slip into a suitcase. In and of itself, this can make the Steam Deck feel like the best possible version of the portable console. If you're willing to tinker and/or emulate, you can play almost anything on it. If you've already got a massive library of games on Steam? All the better. The Nintendo Switch, which anticipated the Steam Deck's form, went bigger for its sequel. All this size and expansiveness has me longing for a truly handheld device: pocket-sized rather than merely portable. Though some op-eds opined that the 3DS was a serious departure from the minimalist design philosophy that defined the early Nintendo handheld, what has endured is its relatively narrow focus. The 3DS outlasted its own extra-dimensional gimmick and in the process became one of the very best ways to play.
Strangely enough, the portable shift towards maximalism may have started with the 3DS. The original Game Boy, though large and cumbersome in its own right, was made cheaply. Designer Gunpei Yokai advocated for using mature technology that could be obtained easily. The philosophy paid off. The Game Boy, fueled with the lean efficiency of Tetris, was a cascading success. Over two decades later, the 3DS took a new approach. It was not exactly cutting edge, but it boasted a high-tech gimmick of its own (3D effects without glasses) and bright, colorful graphics in those dimensions. It had augmented-reality features and wireless, cross-device communication. Some of the early titles, like Resident Evil: The Mercenaries and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, boasted console-quality gaming on the go. But its competition was the Vita, an even larger and more maximalist portable console (which, in a funny twist of fate, became better for playing visual novels and old JRPGs than any big-budget Sony games). The 3DS was cheaper and appealed to a significantly broader audience. It helped a lot that it was a successor to the already resoundingly popular DS.

The Star Wars franchise hasn't been afraid to pull the trigger and send several fan-favorite characters to an early grave, and that's a tradition that'll continue in Star Wars: Zero Company. While the game is drawing many parallels to XCOM, it looks like it also has a few Fire Emblem influences, as a permadeath mode will make almost every single character one with the Force if you bungle your battlefield tactics.
Speaking to PC Gamer (via GamesRadar), narrative lead Aaron Contreras--who was also lead writer on the Star Wars Jedi games at Respawn--revealed that permadeath had been added deep into the development of the game. The gameplay system that developer Bit Reactor came up won't see a character removed from the board if their health drops to zero. Instead, these defeats will count as battlefield injuries, and after they accumulate three of them, they'll be out of the game. The game's protagonist, Hawks, is the only character who permadeath doesn't apply to, due to his central role in the game.
"It was a challenge that we embraced midway through production," Contreras said. "About 13 months ago I lost an argument about permadeath, and it was good that I did, it was the right decision for the game. Star Wars is about loss. I mean, four years old, watching Obi Wan Kenobi die, right? It's about loss, and then also, as a developer, wanting people to not save-scum, but to push through the loss, to what's on the other side of the experience, to feel it."
