See at AmazonOne of the best 4K Blu-ray box set deals we've seen all year is back in stock at Amazon as part of its Halloween horror movie sale. Stanley Kubrick 3-Film 4K Collection is discounted to only $24.49 for a limited time. Released in 2020 with an $85 MSRP, this superb 7-disc box set collects three of Kubrick's best and most influential movies: 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), The Shining (1980), and Full Metal Jacket (1987). With Amazon's deal, you're paying $8.16 per movie. For comparison, you'd spend $51.66 if you purchased the standalone 4K editions of these three classics.
The Kubrick 3-Film Collection has already sold out at least once this week at Amazon, which isn't surprising since the $24.49 price is the best we've seen. Amazon estimates a mid-November delivery window. If you were hoping to watch The Shining on Halloween, you can buy the Kubrick 4K Collection for $25 from Blu-ray retailer Gruv via Amazon. Prime members will still get free shipping, too. Just know that if Amazon's deal disappears again, Gruv's offer is likely to follow.
Stanley Kubrick 3-Film 4K Collection $24.49 (was $85)The Stanley Kubrick 3-Film Collection is a 7-disc slipcase box set with three 4K UHD Blu-ray discs and four 1080p Blu-rays. Each movie comes with its own case that mirrors the standalone 4K editions of The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Full Metal Jacket.
All of Kubrick's films that have received the 4K treatment are incredible from a technical perspective. If you've never watched 2001: A Space Odyssey in 4K, you're likely to be floored by the updates. It looks so beautiful in 4K that it's extremely hard to believe it was filmed in 1968. This is a native 4K restoration of the original 70mm wide HD film gauge. It has Dolby Vision and HDR10 as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.
2001: A Space Odyssey is by far the most feature-rich film in this box set. Along with the 4K disc, it comes with the standard Blu-ray edition with an optional audio commentary track and a bonus third Blu-ray disc with documentaries, interviews, retrospectives, and other behind-the-scenes content.
Inspired by multiple Arthur C. Clarke short stories, 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the most influential science fiction films ever made. Clarke and Kubrick co-wrote the screenplay.
Speaking of influential movies, Kubrick's 1980 adaptation of Stephen King's novel The Shining is widely considered one of the greatest horror films ever made. The Shining's 4K UHD restoration is just as impressive as 2001: A Space Odyssey. It boasts Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. The bonus Blu-ray disc has four bonus videos, including a 35-minute making-of documentary, and a 26-minute behind-the-scenes look at the set design. It also has a fascinating audio commentary narrated by John Baxter, Kubrick's biographer, and Garrett Brown, the inventor of the Steadicam camera stabilizer used to film The Shining.
Full Metal Jacket, one of the best and most eccentric films about the Vietnam War, is phenomenal on 4K Blu-ray. While it only supports HDR10, not Dolby Vision, it still looks superb, and the DTS-HD surround sound track is fantastic. The Blu-ray bonus disc has roughly 30 minutes of interviews with the cast and an optional audio commentary with several actors and writers.
The three films picked for this box set showcase how Kubrick managed to leap from one genre to another and deliver a movie not quite like anything before it.

Outside of the collectible steelbook case, this edition of Full Metal Jacket mirrors the one in the box set. But it's a very cool steelbook case, and it's pretty rare to see a collectible 4K Blu-ray edition of one of Kubrick's best movies for under $20.

In side-by-side comparisons, PlayStation 5 games have tended to have an edge over their Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S counterparts. The Outer Worlds 2, however, flips that script by having a better performance on Xbox than either PS5 or PS5 Pro, according to Digital Foundry.
0n the surface, The Outer Worlds 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X look very similar, but a closer examination reveals that the former suffers from image breakup, lower resolution, frame rate drops, and screen tearing even in performance mode. Digital Foundry also noted small lighting downgrades in PS5.
As for the PS5 Pro, the report states that it uses Sony's proprietary upscaler, PSSR, which doesn't interact well with The Outer Worlds 2's lumen lighting or RT lighting effects. The report concludes that PS5 Pro's "frame rate dips and more intense encounters are common, and the general run of play is noticeably worse than Series X in the finished game." It goes on to speculate that The Outer Worlds 2 may have utilized some proprietary hardware features in Xbox Series X|S that neither the PS5 nor PS5 Pro have.

Few names are as synonymous with horror cinema as John Carpenter. The prolific filmmaker, composer, and avid gamer is best known for groundbreaking works that defined their genres, whether that be slasher flicks like Halloween, sci-fi horror like The Thing, or action thrillers like Escape From New York and They Live. His movies often mix suspense, creepy special effects, and haunting soundtracks that make them perfect for Halloween season viewing--and if you're thinking of picking a few up, you're in luck. Many of Carpenter's best films are available on 4K Blu-ray from Boutique Blu-ray publishers like Shout Factory and Arrow Video. Even better, several of these are on sale at Amazon--such as the recently released Halloween: Limited Edition Steelbook 4K Blu-ray that is down to $20 (was $37) or the upcoming In the Mouth of Madness Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray, which is discounted to $35 (was $60) ahead of its October 28 release date. Directed by Carpenter and written by Bill Lancaster, The Thing (1982) adapts the 1938 novella, Who Goes There, by author John W. Campbell Jr. Starring Kurt Russell and Keith David, the film is set at a remote research station in Antarctica, where a team of scientists discovers a strange lifeform frozen in the ice. When it thaws, it begins killing and mimicking the humans in the facility, sending the rest of the group into a paranoid panic while they try to survive. While it was initially a commercial failure, its gripping story and haunting special effects gained it a cult following, and it's now considered one of the best entries in the sci-fi horror genre. Starman is pretty different from Carpenter's other work. Instead of a gory, horror flick, this is a romantic sci-fi adventure. An alien (Jeff Bridges) stranded on Earth meets a widow named Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen), and takes the form of her deceased husband. The pair then journeys to the Barringer Crater in Arizona, where the alien's mothership is scheduled to pick him up, while trying to avoid pursuit by the US army. Despite it being a departure of style for Carpenter, the film still earned favorable reviews.
You can grab the Limited Edition Steelbook version for $38 (was $40), or pick up the film as part of the Columbia Classics 4K Collection (Volume 4), which also includes His Girl Friday, Guess Who's Coming To Dinner, Kramer Vs. Kramer, Sleepless In Seattle, and Punch-Drunk Love.

Escape from New York takes place in a world overrun with crime, and the entirety of Manhattan has been converted into a prison. However, when a plane carrying the US president (played by Donald Pleasence) crashes inside its borders, outlaw Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) is tasked with his rescue. To ensure Plissken complies, police commissioner Bob Hauk (Lee van Cleef) plants explosives in Plissken's neck, which are set to detonate after 24 hours. It's a wild concept, but the film is highly regarded for its dystopian vibes, tight pacing, and memorable performances from its cast. It's even cited as a major influence on Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid video game series, including Snake Plissken inspiring the name and appearance of Metal Gear's protagonist, Solid Snake.
Escape From New York is available in two 4K Blu-ray releases--a $26 Limited Edition Steelbook and the Escape From New York Collector's Edition, which is on sale for $20 (was $37). Despite the differences in packaging, both include the same selection of bonus materials.

While The Fog only sounds like a Stephen King book, John Carpenter's Christine actually is an adaptation of a King story. The film follows high school student Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon) after he picks up a 1957 Plymouth to restore--only for the car to come alive and hunt down people in town.
The Christine 35th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray gets you both the 4K UHD and Blu-ray versions of the film on disc, along with a few special features. You can grab it for $19 at Amazon (was $31). It's also available in a standard Blu-ray version for $11.69 (was $20).

While the Halloween series has seen numerous follow-ups and reboots over the years, the Halloween trilogy that premiered between 2018 and 2022--which includes Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends--is a modern revival that ignores everything else in the series except for the Carpenter's 1978 original, and serves as a new set of sequels. While Carptenter did not write or direct the movie, it sees the first movie's star, Jamie Lee Curtis, reprise her role as Corey Cunningham, and offers a new take on the Halloween mythos. If you want to revisit these movies, you can pick up the Halloween Trilogy 4K Blu-ray for $49.79 (was $80). It includes 4K cuts of all three films, plus bonus features like extended and deleted scenes and a gag reel.
While the Halloween Trilogy 4K Blu-ray is the easiest way to grab all three films at once, you can also pick up each movie as standalone 4K Blu-rays:
- Halloween (2018) (4K Blu-ray) -- $15.42
- Halloween Kills (4K Blu-ray) -- $17
- Halloween Ends (4K Blu-ray) -- $19.87 ($34)

Anyone looking to return to the Olympic Exclusion Zone in the first Pacific Drive story DLC, Whispers in the Woods, are in for a surprise, as the expansion is out right now. In a surprise announcement, developer Ironwood Studios and publisher Kepler Interactive revealed that Whispers in the Woods is now available, and the game has also been ported over to Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The expansion features a brand-new story and content that Ironwood Studios says is roughly a third of the size of the base game, and it includes new anomalies and horrors to discover.
Players can also experiment with several new gameplay systems, such as the Whispering Tide. This is described as a "mysterious force that grows more perilous" the longer you linger in the Whispering Woods, and to survive, you'll need to equip specially attuned parts to your station wagon that can keep it at bay. Artifacts from Altars will also be found in the expansion, and these offer reality-warping powers that affect both the environment and you.

Silent Hill f spoilers to follow--read at your own discretion.
Set in the fictional village of Ebisugaoka in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f follows Hinako, a high school-aged girl who is navigating her transition from girlhood to womanhood, defying gender roles and resisting an arranged marriage. As she grapples subconsciously with these struggles, it is revealed in both subtle and overt ways how Hinako has endured psychological and physical abuse in a patriarchal society.
Hinako’s first journal entry discloses her father’s abuse, as she writes “he yells at Mom, throws things around, and even hits us.” On the first run of the game, it takes under five minutes to discover a magazine suggesting women are happiest when submitting to men. For Japanese-speaking people and players familiar with Japanese culture and folklore, there are considerably more clues that enrich the story. As an English-speaking woman living in 2025, I still found myself wholly resonating with Hinako’s experiences and Silent Hill f’s themes of exploring the various manifestations of sexism and abuse.

Embark Studios recently wrapped up a big Server Slam test for Arc Raiders ahead of its public launch on October 30, and the test was huge. Given that, Embark got a lot of feedback, and the developer has now disclosed some of what's it's working on addressing ahead of release.
The developer said player feedback, along with the team's own internal data, provided "crucial insights" into how Arc Raiders can be improved for launch. Here are the key points, as written by the developer.
- Stability: You helped us quickly identify and resolve stability issues across all platforms during the test. We’ve locked in even more solutions leading up to launch day to ensure a smooth launch experience.
- The Flying ARCs: It turns out their awareness was a bit too high, allowing them to essentially see through trees and bushes. This made their vision unintentionally over-powered, but we’ve adjusted what they can see now, so expect a fairer fight at launch.
- The Dam Tower: We watched many of you bravely, and perhaps a little too easily, access the Dam Control Tower on Dam Battlegrounds. It was fun to watch, but a bit too accessible for a key loot location. That's been fixed to keep the challenge sharp.
- Visual Difference: Some noticed a visual difference between Server Slam and earlier tests on certain hardware. The default settings did change a bit to favor more performance, and we are looking into tuning further to strike the right balance.
Additionally, Embark said feedback from the test gave the studio valuable feedback in terms of bug-fixes and game balance. "Every piece of data and feedback you provided is helping us to make Arc Raiders a better game," the developer said.

There are seven 6v6 maps confirmed for multiplayer, and this will be a mix of new and remastered maps. The video shows a brief look at Fate, which is a brand-new map inspired by the game's campaign mission called Time and Fate. This features a trippy setting of fractured and floating building pieces from a city in Nicaragua. Other maps briefly shown are Odysseus, which is based on the campaign mission of the same name, and Utopia is a futuristic Guild facility based in Australia. For the season's remasters, Meltdown from Black Ops 2 will return in Season 1 of Black Ops 7.

Ubisoft and Nintendo have now officially revealed that Assassin's Creed Shadows will hit Switch 2 on December 2, and the news was accompanied by a launch trailer.
Despite some rumors that suggested a $70 price to match the other consoles, Switch 2's Assassin's Creed Shadows will retail for $60. Though meant to help promote the tech company's noise cancelling headphones, the ad instead reinforces the stereotype that women--who make up 48% of all gamers, by the way--simply can't stop talking.
Accompanied by the caption "Don't let yapping get in the way of your winning," the ad (first noticed by PC Gamer) depicts a man and woman sitting on a couch together. The man, both holding a controller and wearing a headset, awkwardly shuffles as the woman emphatically speaks to him. After a few moments, he decides to activate the headset's Active Noise Cancellation feature. The woman's voice is drowned out, while the text on the video reads: "Active Noise Cancellation: On, Drama: Off." As of October 23, the advertisement is still up on TikTok.
Considering Razer's history of making cute accessories geared towards female audiences, the advertisement comes as a bit of a shock. Though the ad might not be intentionally sexist, it plays into long-standing gender roles and is extremely dismissive towards the large population of women who also play video games. Coincidentally, a recent study by the Entertainment Software Association found there is a "nearly equal gender split" among video game players.

For this occasion, there will be some new updates to the game. One of the biggest changes is an update to the trades feature, which will allow players to trade even rarer cards than the ones that were previously eligible.
