Assassin's Creed Shadows Gets New Update Ahead Of Claws of Awaji Expansion
Next week, Assassin's Creed Shadows is getting its first DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji. But before Naoe and Yasuke take on the Sanzoku Ippa in a new island region on September 16, Ubisoft is releasing the 1.1.1 update for Assassin's Creed Shadows on September 11.
As part of the Claws of Awaji storyline, Naoe and Yasuke's ally, Junjiro, goes on a quest to meet a legendary bo master, which will unlock a bo staff for Naoe. However, Ubisoft's new update will give the bo staff to every player in the game for free--even if they don't have the DLC--starting on September 16.
The previous update raised the level cap to 80, but update 1.1.1 will push the cap to level 100. Players will receive two additional upgrade levels for unique buildings and three new hideout levels. For anyone who favors running stealth missions at night, upgrading to Nando level 2 will allow players to meditate and advance time to either 6 AM or 6 PM.

However, the company is looking to make the game even easier to get into with the new Villainous: Unstoppable, a streamlined version of the main Disney version of the game that will be easier to set up and play. The game launches on October 15, and if you preorder now at Amazon, you can secure your copy at a slight discount for just $20 (was $25).
Disney Villainous: Unstoppable $20 (was $25) | Releases October 15Disney Villainous: Unstoppable is a standalone game that can be played by itself without needing to purchase any other expansions or core sets--though it's also compatible with other Villainous releases if you want to expand the game.
Unstoppable is designed to introduce players to the Villainous universe, with simple rules, quick matches, and four playable villains (Maleficent, Ursula, Hades, and Scar). Matches take up to 30 minutes, with between two and four players using their villain's unique special abilities to thwart the other players as they attempt to reach their own goals.
Preorder at Amazon Villainous: UnstoppableNeed something to keep you busy until Villainous: Unstoppable arrives next month? There are plenty of excellent existing board games to choose from. For one, you can pick up the original Disney: Villainous, which is on sale for $30 (was $40). This version is a bit more in-depth than the new Villainous: Unstoppable, but the upshot is you can play as an expanded roster of Disney antagonists like Captain Hook, Maleficent, Jafar, Ursula, Queen of Hearts, and Prince John. You can also combine it with the many standalone expansions that add even more characters, including the Perfectly Wretched expansion that features Pete, Cruella De Vil, and Mother Gothel, or the Evil Comes Prepared expansion with Scar, Ratigan, and Yzma. Each of these releases is playable on its own or in combination with other sets.
In addition to all these Disney: Villainous releases, there's also the aforementioned Star Wars and Marvel versions of the game--both of which also have their own standalone expansions. Check the list below for a round-up of more Villainous board game releases available at Amazon.

Preorders For The New Air Pods Pro 3 And Apple Watch Series 11 Are Live
This week, Apple unveiled its next wave of hardware, including four new iPhone models and the next generations of the AirPods Pro and Apple Watch--and Apple users who are looking to grab the new releases can preorder several of the devices now. While the new iPhone 17 and iPhone Air are easily the marquee announcements of the presentation, we'll have to wait until September 12 for preorders to open. In the meantime, preorders for the new AirPods Pro 3 and Apple Watch Series 11 are now open at multiple online retailers. Both devices launch on September 19, so you only have a few days left to reserve these devices ahead of release. If you're interested in doing so, we'll go over where you can preorder the AirPods Pro 3 and Apple Watch Series 11 online.
AirPods Pro 3 $249 | Releases September 19The new AirPods Pro 3 are a smaller, more powerful iteration of Apple's premium earbuds, featuring new functionality like in-ear audio translation powered by Apple AI. The feature is similar to the live translation features found on Google's Pixel Buds, allowing you to listen along as the earbuds translate spoken words into your language of choice in real-time. Along with audio translations, the AirPods Pro 3 can connect to iOS devices to provide text translation as well.
The other big new feature for the AirPods Pro 3 is an integrated heart rate sensor--the smallest heart rate sensor in an Apple device yet. This means you can track workouts and get additional health data tracking just from the AirPods Pro 3 alone.
There are also several spec upgrades and feature overhauls compared to previous AirPods Pro models, including 4x more effective active noise cancelling (ANC) compared to the original AirPods Pro (and twice as effective compared to the AirPods Pro 2), plus new foam-infused eartips for added passive noise isolation. They also feature enhanced 3D spatial listening and hearing aid functionality, IP57 sweat-proof and waterproof materials, and longer battery life (up to 10 hours during normal listening, or 8 hours with ANC).
The AirPods Pro 3 launch September 19 and will ship with a charging case and five eartip sizes. Preorders are available now for $250 at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Apple's online store. Best Buy is offering a few preorder bonuses, including three free months of Apple Fitness+, three months of Apple Music, and two months of Apple TV+.

Unsurprisingly, the wearable sports several new and expanded health tracking features. This includes menstrual and mental health monitoring, as well as expanded heart rate tracking with hypertension alerts and more detailed Sleep Score information. The Apple Watch Series 11 now factors in additional data like bedtime routines, sleep duration, and heart rate fluctuations throughout the night.
The Apple Watch Series 11 launches September 19 and will be available in 42mm and 46mm watch face sizes with both GPS-only and GPS + Cellular models. You can also select from multiple bands and face styles and colors, including jet black, silver, rose gold, and space gray. From Software's games tend to be challenging for most players, and the developer is making things even harder with Elden Ring Nightreign's new Deep of Night mode. Before that launches later this week, Elden Ring Nightreign has received patch 1.02.2 with new bug fixes and gameplay tweaks. From Software has also shared a video that breaks down some of the changes coming in Deep of Night.
One of the ways Deep of Night will keep players on edge is that they won't know which Night Lord they're actually facing until the battle begins. Flexibility is going to be the key to overcoming those battles, and the video suggests preparing relic presets before going into those fights.
More powerful enemies will appear throughout Deep of Night, and players will have the opportunity to pick up weapons that can dispatch them. However, those weapons will have a detrimental effect on player characters that may make battles even more grueling. As players go deeper into Deep of Night, their enemies will become increasingly difficult.

Halo Infinite's latest update just introduced a fan-favorite game mode that will have players nostalgic for Halo: Reach.
Yes, Invasion has made its Halo Infinite debut, just in time for the 15th anniversary of Bungie's last Halo game on September 14. The asymmetrical, one-sided objective mode originally saw Spartans and Elites attacking or defending in Halo: Reach, with the objective for the attackers changing depending on what phase of the map was currently being played. Each team also sported unique weapon loadout options depending on whether they were on the Spartan or Elite side, further emphasizing the mode's asymmetrical nature.
As broken down in a Halo Waypoint blog, the Invasion in Halo Infinite is mostly as players remember, minus the ability to play as Elites. Instead, one team will play as Spartans affected by a malignant Banished AI and will sport more Banished/Covenant weapon loadouts similar to that used by the Elite team in Halo: Reach. The mode also originally featured the ability to spawn on a "buddy" on the same team, a feature returning for Halo: Infinite's version of the game mode.

Continue Reading at GameSpotDigimon Has Always Been Better Than Pokemon When It Comes To Stories
I started watching Digimon around the same time as Pokemon. As a child, I didn't really think about the two competing with each other--I liked both. Pokemon entertained me with its lighthearted antics and the catchy rhythms on Pikachu's Jukebox. Meanwhile, Digimon kept me invested with the chemistry between the characters and their relatable struggles.
Digimon's stories forced me to think about my life in a way that Pokemon didn't, and I carried those lessons with me into adulthood long after I stopped watching. I've stayed connected to Pokemon largely thanks to its video games and the marketing madness that has solidified its international presence. But, even now, I feel Digimon beats Pokemon when it comes to storytelling.
This isn't a particularly rare opinion. Years later, fans who watched Digimon in the late '90s and early 2000s periodically wonder where the series went wrong and why it isn't as popular as Pokemon, even though they still remember the stories fondly. While I mainly admire the anime series, some folks would even argue the Digimon video games also have Pokemon beat in terms of story.
