Shin Megami Tensei - The Roleplaying Game: Tokyo Conception is finally available to purchase again at Amazon for a 10% discount after being sold out for months. It was previously scheduled to launch in September 2024 before quietly being delayed indefinitely.

Shin Megami Tensei - The Roleplaying Game: Tokyo Conception $45 (was $50)

At the moment, Amazon is "temporarily out of stock," but you can still place an order for $45 (was $50). Walmart sold out at the $50 price point and remains out of stock as of April 4.

The tabletop RPG originally released in Japan in 1993 and has seen numerous editions and revisions in the years since, but this marks the first English localization. As mentioned, the 320-page Shin Megami Tensei RPG rulebook has already sold out multiple times since it first popped up on Amazon. We don't expect this to remain available to purchase for long.

TikTok Has Another 75 Days To Find A Buyer, Trump Says; Walmart Considering A Bid

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 05:22

TikTok's fate in the US will not be decided just yet. US President Donald Trump said today that he will sign an executive order that will keep the social media site running in the US for another 75 days. This is coming about amid reports of Amazon and Walmart reportedly gearing up to make bids to buy the company.

In January 2025, the US Supreme Court upheld TikTok's ban, and the platform briefly went dark. At the time, Trump extended the deadline for TikTok to find a US buyer until April 4, and now he's extended this again for another 75 days, ending June 18.

Today, Trump said he wants to "save TikTok" and that there has been "tremendous progress" thus far in the process of trying to find a buyer. However, he said a deal needs more time to come together, so he's signing a new executive order that will keep TikTok online in the US for at least another 75 days.

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 04:21

A handful of Switch games are receiving paid Switch 2 Editions, like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. But then, does your original version still work on Switch after paying for those upgrades? Thankfully, Nintendo is saying yes, they'll still be compatible.

On Nintendo's website, the company detailed that you still have access to both versions of a game after upgrading to a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Specifically, Nintendo states: "After you upgrade, the original Nintendo Switch game can still be played on Nintendo Switch, though the features and content of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition can only be played on Nintendo Switch 2." The upgrade fee hasn't been revealed yet (it's possible they vary per title), but Nintendo has listed every game so far receiving Switch 2 Editions.

Two Legend of Zelda games--Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom--will boast better frame rates and resolutions, HDR support, and a new Zelda notes app functionality when playing for their respective Switch 2 Editions. Meanwhile, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is getting a brand-new story.

Preorders are now steeply discounted at Amazon and Walmart, making this the ideal time to reserve a copy.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie $17 (was $27) | Releases May 27

You'll also find a DVD version of The Day the Earth Blew Up, but because of the recent discount, the Blu-ray is more affordable.

It's unclear if the Blu-ray includes any bonus features--behind the hand-drawn animated film, no bonus features are mentioned in the product listing. We'll update this section if anything is revealed between now and May 27.

A bunch of other Looney Tunes animations are available on Blu-ray, including the Looney Tunes Collector's Choice: Vol. 1-4 set that launched in late 2024. The four-disc collection gets you over 600 minutes of classic cartoons, making it an excellent way to relive the best Looney Tunes adventures. It's the best value of the bunch, but there are still plenty of others to peruse. We also included a few DVDs if you're looking for something even more affordable.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered Patch Adds New Content But Causes Issues

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 04:07

The 2.0.0 recent patch for The Last of Us Part II Remastered has finally added some new content for the roguelike No Return mode, but it has caused an issue in the single-player campaign.

Sony is aware of and is currently addressing an issue where players have reported that additional weapon holsters and purchased skills disappear after the patch was applied. This problem seems to be secluded to the single-player campaign.

As for the new content, Bill and Marlene have been added as new playable characters. Four new maps are included as well: School, Nest, Streets, and Overlook. There are also new No Return Trophies for players to unlock, and a cosmetic skin for Ellie where she dawns on the jacket of Jordan A. Mun, the protagonist for Naughty Dog's next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

You Can't Create Your Own Character In The Duskbloods, But You Can Customize One

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 03:19

The Duskbloods, revealed as part of the recent Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, will not feature fully customizable characters like Elden Ring or Dark Souls, developer From Software has confirmed, but will instead allow players to choose from a cast of "over a dozen" characters that can be customized.

When The Duskbloods was first revealed, many thought it was akin to the PlayStation 4-exclusive Bloodborne. That, however, is not the case, as the game is an eight-player, multiplayer-focused PvPvE title. In a new developer interview with The Duskbloods' director and From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki, he revealed more details about the game's PvPvE nature and the unique "Bloodsworn" characters players will be able to choose from.

Rather than making a character from scratch, players will get to choose from over a dozen unique characters that have their "own identity and appearance," as well as unique weapons. Each character will have a weapon or tool to deal damage at a distance, as well the ability to summon an NPC to help them in battle.

Wanderstop Review - A Mostly Delightful Anxi-Tea Simulator

Games Reviews - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 02:56

In April 2019, my life fell apart. Despite enduring what felt like month-long panic attacks leading up to this ordeal, I only realized how bad everything had gotten when I woke up in the hospital, body draped in a violently purple hospital gown that I still have no recollection of putting on. I spent a couple days and a thousand or so dollars in that hospital room, an uncomfortable combination of dazed and defeated, mostly. But I also remember feeling absurdly grateful. I was in a space where nothing was expected of me. I had been completely removed from the rest of the living, breathing, working population. It was as if I didn't exist. And it's terrifying to think about how desperately I wanted that back then.

Prior to my rejoining society, I was given a choice: I could seek further treatment and attempt to address my various ailments, or I could walk out those doors largely unchanged (apart from being hundreds of dollars poorer). Treatment meant time and money: two things I never felt I had enough of. But as I considered my next steps, the psychiatrist across from me set down her clipboard and told me something I'll never forget.

"If you don't make time to take care of yourself, your body will make time for you--and you probably won't like when or how it does."

One of the big highlights on this curated list is Turnip Boy Robs A Bank, a fun roguelite and a direct sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion. While the game looks adorable with its anthropomorphic vegetable characters, it's actually a hilarious and dark tale of crime and revenge set in a post-apocalyptic world where veggies have risen to become the dominant lifeform following the extinction of humanity. As for the gameplay, this is a fun jaunt through a bank as you blast your way past security and steadily upgrade Turnip Boy's arsenal.

The other great game on this list is SteamWorld Build, which takes place in the cowboy robot Steampunk universe. This time, the focus is on building a new home, mining the land beneath you, and increasing efficiency. SteamWorld games are generally fun adventures, and this one is a fun mix of resource management and spatial planning.

PlayStation Productions Boss Explains Why Horizon TV Series Was Canceled

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 01:52

Nearly three years ago, Sony confirmed reports about a Netflix TV series based upon Horizon Zero Dawn. However, the proposed live-action Horizon show was reportedly canceled last year. Now, PlayStation Productions chief Asad Qizilbash has offered an explanation about why the series didn't go forward.

Qizilbash told Variety that the Horizon series "just wasn’t creatively going how we wanted to," which led Sony to reevaluate it as a potential movie rather than a television project. However, Qizilbash didn't touch upon the workplace misconduct allegations against Horizon showrunner Steve Blackman stemming from his time on The Umbrella Academy. Blackman denied any wrongdoing, and word about Horizon's fate was revealed shortly thereafter.

Earlier this year, Sony officially put a Horizon Zero Dawn movie into development alongside a Helldivers adaptation. Neither film officially has a creative team or a cast yet, nor do they currently have slots on Sony's release calendar. Sony has previously produced other features based on PlayStation games, including Uncharted and the upcoming Until Dawn film.

Fallout Would've Been "Too Compressed" As Movie, Todd Howard Believes

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 01:40

Bethesda's Todd Howard recently revealed why Fallout was adapted as a television series rather than a movie.

Howard's comments were part of a bigger report from Variety about the process of video game adaptations. In it, Howard explains that a movie version of Fallout would've felt "too compressed" as the game series has such a vast and interesting world.

"Originally, a lot of people were approaching to do a feature film. And looking at what we wanted to do for this one, that felt too compressed. Fallout is such an amazing world--what would we really want to watch in it? Well, we’d like to watch the next story, or new stories in that world, as opposed to, again, in this instance, adapting a story we had told and kind of compressing it down. For this one, we were very much interested in telling new stories," Howard explained.

Smaller Game Studios Are Struggling To Get Nintendo Switch 2 Dev Kits - Report

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 01:05

A new report suggests that many AA and indie studios have been unable to secure development kits for Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of its launch this June.

Several game developers from AA and indie studios spoke to The Game Business, who revealed their complaints in a recent newsletter. "New console audiences are often willing to try new things at the start, so we were desperate to get our hands on dev kits early. Nintendo has finally responded to us, but we still don’t think we’ll get anything for a few months," a AA game studio co-founder told The Game Business.

Generally, the developers The Game Business spoke to didn't seem to think a large bump for indie games would arrive alongside the Switch 2 launch. They're still hoping to learn more about the process of acquiring a Switch 2 development kit from Nintendo now that more information about the system is public knowledge.

The Last Of Us Showrunner Would Love More Games In The Series

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 00:56

With Season 2 of HBO's The Last of Us premiering next week, fans have speculated how much of the second game's story will be covered. We know the timeline won't be completely linear to the game, and with the sequel's actual gameplay length, there's only so much room in a single season. It's been theorized that there might be room for at least one more season of the show, but what if there were more game material to adapt?

Talking to Variety, showrunner Craig Mazin explained that they'll need more than this upcoming season to tell the whole story that Neil Druckmann told in the games. However, the thought of spin-off potential has crossed his mind, even if he's not the one running the show.

"As far as additional source material, as a fan of The Last of Us, if Neil has more games, I would love it,” Mazin said. "For me as a writer and showrunner, this is my Last of Us. So this will be the last of my Last of Us, covering the events of the first and second game."

From Software Is Not Abandoning Single-Player Games, Studio Boss Says

Game News - Sat, 04/05/2025 - 00:55

From Software has two known games in development currently--with one set to be released very soon--and both of them are built around a core multiplayer experience. Elden Ring: Nightreign offers a co-op souls-like adventure, while Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods is heavily focused on PvPvE gameplay. This has raised some concern amongst From Software fans that the studio will develop more multiplayer games in the future, but From Software boss and Duskbloods director Hidetaka Miyazaki says that the developer isn't shifting exclusively to online multiplayer games.

"As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn’t mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer-focused direction with titles going forward," Miyazaki said in a Nintendo interview. "The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring was also announced, and we still intend to actively develop single-player-focused games such as this that embrace our more traditional style."

Miyazaki also spoke more about the setting, characters, and themes of The Duskbloods, explaining how players will control a group of characters known as the Bloodsworn. Starring a group of superhuman warriors that are similar to vampires, Miyazaki said that the game takes place during the end of human society and revolves around the Bloodsworn chasing after something known as First Blood. The Duskbloods--which was originally pitched for the Switch--will launch for Switch 2 in 2026.
