Battlefield 6 Gets New Campaign Trailer Featuring Tons Of Explosions During State Of Play

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 07:11

Battlefield 6 got a new trailer during the PlayStation State of Play, providing a new look at the single-player campaign. The campaign follows Dagger 13, a squad of Marine Raiders, fighting against Pax Armata, a tech-focused private military organization that is trying to establish itself as a global power following the fall of NATO.

The trailer starts with a brief cinematic, showing Dagger 13 performing a synced attack. The rest of the trailer focuses on a mix of gameplay and small bits of cutscenes. Gameplay sections include exploring a bombed out Brooklyn, HALO jumping from a plane, and even storming a Gibraltar beach.

These sections highlight both the grand scale of Battlefield 6 and the destructibility, with buildings in the distance getting completely leveled, and the walls of a building getting blown out as the player runs through it. To really drive home the massive scale of combat and destruction in Battlefield 6, the trailer also features tons of explosions. We see small explosives blowing open walls, collapsing hallways, firing RPGs into buildings, and even bombing runs on military facilities.

Gyro controls, lightbar support, and a customizable touchpad further enhance the immersion during flight," the developer said.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is not the first Microsoft game on PlayStation, as some of the others include Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 5, Grounded, and Gears of War: Reloaded.

Sailor Moon's gorgeous Naoko Takeuchi Collection Manga Box Set is discounted to its lowest price yet ahead of Prime Big Deal Days. Released last November with a $78 cover price, this six-volume collection available for only $43.56 at Amazon. The collectible edition of the beloved manga was produced by Kodansha Comics and is bundled with exclusive art cards and a premium display box.

While picking up this deal, you'll also want to consider preordering the second set that completes the Naoko Takeuchi Collection ahead of its November 11 release. On the anime side, fans can save on all three Sailor Moon Crystal Set Limited Edition releases.

Sailor Moon: Naoko Takeuchi Collection - Manga Box Set 1 (6 Volumes) $43.56 (was $78)

Sailor Moon: Naoko Takeuchi Collection Box Set 1 includes six oversized paperbacks totaling 2,144 pages. The beautiful new editions can be stored and displayed in an eye-catching holographic box. It has a fold-out front cover that attaches to box with a magnetic clasp.

Volumes 1-6 in the Naoko Takeuchi Collection are 300 to 400 pages each. Along with enough reading material to keep Sailor Moon fans busy for a while, this collectible box set comes with 16 art cards.

The Naoko Takeuchi Collection Manga Box Set 2 also comes with six paperback books. It concludes the Naoko Takeuchi Collection edition of Sailor Moon with Volumes 7-10. It also includes the two-volume Codename Sailor V prequel manga.

Like the 2024 box set, this Sailor Moon manga collection will be packaged in a holographic display case with a magnetic enclosure. Inside the case, you'll find 16 art cards and exclusive stickers. The addition of the stickers might stem from the fact that the back half of the collection has roughly 250 fewer pages. You can preorder Naoko Takeuchi Collection Manga Box Set 2 for $66.34 (was $78) ahead of its November 11 release. With Amazon's preorder price guarantee, you'll automatically get the best price offered between the time you order and release. Plus, you won't be charged until Amazon actually ships your order.

Note: Kodansha Comics hasn't released images of the second box set yet, but we'd expect it to match the style of the first. The image shown above is of the first set.

Like the popular anime series it inspired, the Sailor Moon manga follows Usagi, an average teenager who one day meets a talking cat, gains super powers, and begins a journey of self-discovery. Sailor Moon became a sales juggernaut throughout its original run in the 90s. It's one of the best-selling manga of all time, eclipsed only by the likes of One Piece and Tokyo Ghoul, and it also had several popular anime series based on it. It's also cited as one of the most influential franchises, helping give rise to the popular "Super Girl" genre of anime and manga.

Payday 2 Launches A Subscription Service That Gets You Lots Of DLC For $5/Month

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 06:33

Starbreeze has announced a new subscription program for Payday 2 DLC. The Payday 2: Subscription, as it's called, gives players access to dozens of DLC packs for a fee of $5/month or $20 for six months--the latter represents a savings of 33% compared to paying monthly. There is no annual subscription offering, however.

The subscription comes with access to more than 65 DLC packs for Payday 2, adding things like more heists, weapons, and cosmetics. Subscribing isn't taking over as the only way to get the DLC, however, as the game's DLC packs remain available to buy individually.

Starbreeze boss Gustav Nisser said the aim with the Payday 2 subscription is to "give players greater flexibility in how they experience the game." The subscription is only available on Steam.

Save Big On TCL's Unique 3-In-1 Android Tablet With Two E-Ink Screen Modes

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 06:08
See at Amazon See at Amazon

Amazon has a nice selection of tablet deals in the lead-up to its Prime Big Deal Days sales event (October 7-8), but few models are as interesting as TCL's NXTPaper Android tablets. The NXTPaper's main draw is its switchable display modes. With the press of the button, you can transform the display from regular Android tablet to color e-ink to black-and-white e-ink. This allows you to use the NXTPaper as a regular Android tablet as well as a drawing tablet and ereader. Amazon is offering steep discounts on NXTPaper 14.3-inch and 11-inch bundles with flip cases and styluses.

TCL NXTPaper has three display modes. TCL NXTPaper 14.3-Inch Android Tablet Bundle $370 (was $470)

You can save $100 on the NXTPaper 14.3-inch bundle, dropping the price to $370 (was $470).

The 14.3-inch TCL NXTPaper has a 2.4K resolution display (2400 x 1600p) with a paper-like texture. It weighs only 1.67 pounds and is 0.27 inches thick. Designed to be used in any lighting environment and to reduce eye strain, the screen has anti-glare coating, DC dimming, and blue light reduction with (optional) automatic brightness adjustments.

As mentioned, the NXTPaper button on the side of the tablet lets you seamlessly switch between the three modes: Regular, Color, and Ink. The regular mode is for watching movies, playing games, and other activities you'd use a conventional Android tablet for. Color mimics electronic ink tablets like the Kindle Colorsoft and is geared to artists as well as readers of visually oriented digital media like comic books and graphic novels. Ink mode is the traditional e-ink display option for reading (think Kindle Paperwhite).

The 14.3-inch NXTPaper has a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and Android 14 OS. It's equipped with 256GB of flash storage and 8GB RAM, with an additional 8GB of expandable memory. The 10,000mAh battery fully charges in two hours; battery life varies depending on which mode you're using, but it compares favorably to most regular Android tablets due to the large battery size.

The NXTPaper has two front cameras (13MP and 5MP) and an 8MP camera on the back with 2K video support. For sound, it's equipped with four stereo speakers and supports private listening with Bluetooth or wired headphones.

The bundle comes with a flip case that doubles as an adjustable stand and TCL's proprietary T-Pen stylus with 4,096 pressure levels and a magnet that attaches to the case.

See at Amazon TCL NXTPaper 11-Inch Android Tablet Bundle (Gen 2) 64GB: $200 (was $250) | 128GB: $250 (was $290)

The 11-inch NXTPaper tablet that's on sale actually has a slightly better display, as it uses TCL's 4.0 screen tech--the 14.3-inch model is a 3.0 display. The electronic ink modes are a bit crisper with improved clarity, and it has better blue light reduction features. The 11-inch screen has a 1920 x 1200p resolution.

The Gen 2 model also has AI features such as smart voice memo, writing/speech assistants, and the ability to Google questions by circling an object on screen with the stylus.

Two different configurations are on sale. The 64GB model is $200 (was $250), while the 128GB model is down to $240 (was $290). Some customers will be eligible for an additional 10% off; you'll see it as a brand promotion on the store pages. Another benefit of the Gen 2 model is that it has a microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB microSDXC cards.

Both models have a MediaTek Helio G80 processor and run on Android 15. The Gen 2 has 8GB RAM with 8GB of expandable memory. The battery is a bit smaller at 8,000mAh and it only has two cameras: 5MP front and 8MP back. It also has two stereo speakers instead of four.

Both configurations weigh 1.14 pounds and are 0.28 inches thick. The bundle deals include the same style of flip case as the 14.3-inch model as well as the same T-Pen stylus.

Hideo Kojima Had To Make Sure That OD Wasn't Haunted By A Real Ghost

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 05:44

Earlier this week, Kojima Productions shared a new look at OD, the studio's upcoming horror game for Xbox Games Studios. Director Hideo Kojima is so committed to making this game scary that he apparently tried to scan a real ghost for the game.

"For OD, I want to go around, all over the world where [there] are scary kind of places," Kojima said at the Beyond the Strand event this week, as reported by GamesRadar. "I want to scan a ghost for the first time and I want to get an award for that."

Speaking through a translator, Kojima went on to explain that there was supposedly a ghost in one of the rooms scanned for the game, and he suggested that subsequent cracking sounds in the studio's building may have been the spirit following them home.

Steam's New Personalized Menu Is Now Widely Available

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 04:37

After being available through the Steam Client Beta since July 25, the new personalized layout is now widely available to all users on Valve's storefront. The store is now much easier to parse when visiting the home page. Several bits of additional clutter are gone, making it simpler to jump to your favorite genres and find something completely new to play.

New features include an enhanced search panel, which comprises popular searches, recently viewed items, search options for publishers and other categories outside games, and an advanced search tool. The horizontal search panel now stays at the top of the client no matter where you are within Steam, making it easy to access at all times. You can find more details and Valve's reasoning behind the changes in the beta announcement blog from July.

"We redesigned the Steam store menu to offer a more dynamic and personalized experience, making it easier for players to browse the store and discover new games," reads a post on Steam's community page. "Updated organization and layout make navigation and search more accessible, and now you'll find those options on more store pages. The search bar is also a little smarter, with personalized search and browsing suggestions, plus games you've recently searched for."

Call Of Duty Still Played By A "Shocking" Number Of People On PS4 And Xbox One

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 03:16

EA's Battlefield 6 is ditching PS4 and Xbox, but Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is still releasing on those aging consoles. Why? There is a pretty straightforward explanation.

Treyarch senior director of production Yale Miller told Dexerto that "a shocking number of people play" Call of Duty on last-gen systems, and that supporting those consoles helps matchmaking efforts.

"It made sense for us to do it, and we could," Miller said.

Eggs-Traction Shooter Escape From Dukov Launches On PC In October

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 03:00

Extraction shooters normally feature a grim and serious art direction, but Escape from Dukov is aiming to be a cute alternative to this genre when it officially launches on October 16. Waddling its way onto PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, the duck-themed single-player game has been fairly popular on Steam once a demo for it went live.

Billed as an extraction shooter that also features base-building gameplay mechanics, Escape from Dukov isn't a hardcore entry in the genre like Escape from Tarkov. The game has cartoonish enemies, fog-of-war mechanics, and randomly dropped loot, while the gameplay is flexible enough to allow you to fight enemies head-on or use stealth to your advantage.

When you're not planning for a run, you can also build up your base and store the resources you'll need to construct a spaceship that can be used to escape the doomed planet you're stuck on.

Silent Hill F Modders Have Already Removed The Game's Signature Fog

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 02:53

Silent Hill f won't officially launch until tomorrow, September 25, but PC users with early access have already released a handful of mods for the game. One of the mods even removes the franchise's signature fog from the Japanese town of Ebisugaoka. And suddenly it's a much nicer day for high school student Hinako Shimizu, at least until something tries to kill her.

Someone already removed fog in Silent Hill F lol pic.twitter.com/K6daHORlZ7

— Besk (@BeskInfinity) September 23, 2025

As demonstrated in the post above, the game isn't quite as intimidating if you can see everything clearly. Last year's Silent Hill 2 remake also had a mod that got rid of the fog. Some of the other notable mods for Silent Hill f include hardware-based ray tracing, the removal of the HUD, and some optimization tweaks for the game's engine.

Silent Hill f is a departure for the series and the first game in the franchise to be set in Japan. The story takes place in the '60s and follows Hinako as she tries to understand why her town has seemingly been swallowed in endless fog and populated by horrific creatures. GameSpot's review for Silent Hill f gave it a 9 out of 10.

Protect Your Trading Card Collection With These Storage Box Deals

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 02:35
See at Amazon See at Amazon See at Amazon

Whether you’re new to the hobby or have been growing your collection for years, trading card storage boxes are always a necessity. Along with giving you an easy way to store and organize your cards, most come with durable, protective shells that ensure your decks stay in mint condition over the years. Now’s a great time to pick up another one, as Amazon is discounting several TCG storage boxes to their lowest prices of the year. These three are all labeled for Magic: The Gathering, but they’ll work just as well for other games like the Pokemon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, and more. Keep in mind that the number of cards you can fit in these storage boxes will vary based on whether they’re sleeved or not, but in general, you can expect to house hundreds of cards--even a few thousand--in a single case.

Gomyrod Card Storage Box (Holds 3,200+ cards) $27.79 (was $40)

If you already have a sizable collection--or plan to expand it and need lots of extra space--this Card Storage Box from Gomyrod the best option of the three. Not only is it listed for its lowest price ever at $27.79 (was $40), but it can hold up to 3,200 cards. The interior of the case features four rows with 30 removable multi-colored dividers and card supporters that help keep your cards upright even if you don’t have enough to fill an entire section. The case also features windows for peeking at your cards, a hand strap for carrying it like a briefcase, and a magnetic clasp.

See at Amazon Kabinka Commander Deck Box (Holds 400+ cards) $40 (was $50)

Kabinka's Commander Deck Box is the smallest of the boxes, with enough space to hold around 400 cards (the equivalent of four 100-card Commander format Magic: The Gathering decks) and a handful of small accessories, but it’s arguably the most premium option. It includes four magnetic card holders, a dice box with a removable lid, and strong magnet closures that keep everything contained when not in use. It’s built with waterproof PU leather and a soft microfiber lining for added protection. You can grab it for $40 (was $50) at Amazon.

See at Amazon Card Storage Box (Holds 1,800+ cards) $24 (was $27)

Slotting between the 400- and 3,200-card cases above is this reasonably sized (and priced) 1,800-card box from UAONO. It’s broken up into three rows, comes with 10 card dividers, 3 card supporters, and is outfitted with magnetic closures to secure your collection when not in use. The interior is lined with soft microfiber fabric, while the exterior is made of durable leather material. This box is on sale for $24 at Amazon (was $26).

See at Amazon

If you want a few other accessories to pair with your storage box, check out the slim 9-Pocket Card Binder that holds up to 720 cards. This is much easier to travel with, though some may find it to lack the durability of the three boxes above. It’s on sale for $10 (was $14). And while you don’t really need it for TCGs, anyone playing traditional card games should take a look at this Automatic Card Shuffler while it’s on sale for $18 (was $25).

Upcoming Magic: The Gathering Releases

These storage boxes are built to work specifically with Magic: The Gathering cards--so consider checking out the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man set that arrives on September 26. Many of these have been restocked at Amazon after selling out ahead of their arrival, though we’re sure they’ll disappear again soon. There’s also a nice discount on MTG Final Fantasy Commander Decks, some of which are seeing steep 40% price cuts.

Mario Kart World And Donkey Kong Bananza Patches Squash Annoying Bugs

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 01:36

Since Nintendo launched Switch 2 in June, Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza have emerged as the system's early flagship titles. Both games were also given updates this week, although Mario Kart World fans will notice more differences and improvements to the game.

Mario Kart World patch Ver. 1.3.0 makes a number of welcome changes to Free Roam, including the ability to play that mode with a second player if the game is full while trying to join a race against friends. It's also going to be easier to encounter UFOs and find collectibles in Free Roam, especially now that the game will let you know which items you've already found on the map.

The patch tackled a few annoying bugs like losing your ranking if you went out of bounds by the finish line, or getting stuck in the Bowser's Castle walls when using Bullet Bill. Most of the bug fixes would be best described as quality-of-life changes rather than game-breaking issues.

Game News - Thu, 09/25/2025 - 01:21

Treyarch senior director of production Yale Miller has revealed that the company rejected collaborations with unspecified "big brands" for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 skins.

Miller told Dexerto that Treyarch wants to have collab skins in Black Ops 7 that "make sense" for the game. This mandate led the company to apparently say no to possible deals.

"There are opportunities that we have had lined up that, after some of our conversations, we straight up turned down. Big, big brands, big things, and we're like, 'No, we're not gonna do that because it just doesn't fit,'" Miller said.
