50 Cent Certainly Seems Like He's Joining Street Fighter Movie As A Beloved Character

Game News - Thu, 06/26/2025 - 00:24

The star of 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand looks like he'll be a part of the new Street Fighter movie cast. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is teasing that he'll throw on blue boxing shorts and red gloves to portray Balrog.

Nexus Point News initially reported that Jackson was in talks for Street Fighter, which the musician and actor seemingly confirmed on Instagram. Jackson shared a photo from the news story, strongly hinting he's on board for the film. Earlier this week, Callina Liang joined the Street Fighter movie and will play the iconic Chun-Li. Other cast members include Jason Momoa and WWE wrestler Roman Reigns.

This obviously isn't the first time Jackson has played in the video game space, as he starred in two games in the 2000s--50 Cent: Bulletproof and then the previously mentioned Blood in the Sand. Meanwhile, Balrog first appeared in Street Fighter 2 before becoming a playable character in Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition. The boxer is affiliated with M. Bison, and in fact, went by that name initially before Capcom changed the character's moniker to Balrog.

One Of 2024's Best Shooters Is Now On PS5 And Xbox Series X|S

Game News - Thu, 06/26/2025 - 00:15

Strange Scaffold's I Am Your Beast was one of GameSpot's picks for the best PC-exclusive games of 2024. In the developer's follow-up to El Paso, Elsewhere, PC players stepped into the role of former secret agent Alphonse Harding. Now, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners are getting their chance to play I Am Your Beast.

On June 25, I Am Your Beast will officially go live on PSN and Xbox Live. In the game’s story, Harding has left his life of espionage and action behind him, even when his former employers at the Covert Operations Initiative try to entice him back for one final mission. When Harding turns down COI, it responds by sending countless agents to put him in an early grave. As you might expect, Harding takes that personally, and he's the wrong guy to mess with.

The newly released ports include I Am Your Beast's free expansion, which was released last November. Nine new levels were added to the game, as well as an epilogue that gave players even more ridiculously over-the-top action. The epilogue is taken from the accounts of the few COI agents who managed to survive Harding's wrath, and in their retelling he has superhuman abilities that break the laws of reason and physics.

Death Stranding 2 Was Made In Partnership With A Nintendo-Owned Studio

Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 23:04

The CG animation and motion capture company Nintendo Pictures, formerly known as Dynamo Pictures, has been revealed to have worked on Sony's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

VGC spotted the company's name in the Death Stranding 2 credits. While it might seem surprising to see a Nintendo-owned company work on a PlayStation game, it's not totally unexpected. Prior to Nintendo's acquisition of Dynamo in 2022 and re-branding to Nintendo Pictures, the company worked on the original Death Stranding.

Since 2022, Nintendo Pictures' work on game projects has focused on Nintendo games, including Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. But it's possible the work Nintendo Pictures did on Death Stranding 2 was done prior to Nintendo's buyout, or that a previous contract was in place to allow the company to work on Death Stranding 2 even as a company owned by Nintendo.

Sony Re-Confirms That It Won't Put Its New Games On PS Plus At Launch Like Xbox Does

Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 23:01

Microsoft releases its own first-party Xbox games on Game Pass at launch, but Sony does not do this--and it's not planning to change that strategy going forward.

PlayStation services executive Nick Maguire told Game File that Sony has "stayed true to our strategy across the board," and that means no day-one new releases on PS Plus. "We're not looking to put games in day and date," Maguire said.

Back in 2022, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan--who has since left the company--said the "virtuous cycle" of Sony's business plans for gaming would be "broken" if Sony launched its new games into PS Plus.

PlayStation Plus Free Games For July 2025 Revealed

Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 22:26

PlayStation has revealed July's batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. All PS Plus members will be able to claim a trio of freebies starting July 1: Diablo 4, King of Fighters 15, and Jusant. If you haven't claimed June's PlayStation Plus free games yet, make sure to do so before next Tuesday.

Diablo 4 is a big draw this month, as Blizzard's action-packed RPG is a return to the grim atmosphere of the classic games in the series. Like previous entries, it's a dark journey across the land of Sanctuary as you work to stop a growing demonic threat. The game is enjoyable in both solo and co-op modes, and since launch, Blizzard has fine-tuned the experience with tweaks to the gameplay, the endgame experience, and dynamic activities that'll put your skills to the test.

While several features haven't gone over too well with the fanbase--like the shoddy battle-pass system that has been heavily criticized--it's still an enjoyable game overall. The first expansion for Diablo 4--Vessel of Hatred--is also pretty great and worth checking out.

Samsung Already Has Early Prime Day Deals On TVs, Soundbars, And More

Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 22:00

Samsung is offering a bunch of impressive price cuts ahead of Prime Day, with TVs, soundbars, and memory products all seeing significant discounts. The most enticing deals are for TVs, as you can save well over $2,000 on select products--making this an excellent time to upgrade your home theater. We’ve noticed some of the deals are already selling out (The Frame QLED TV 50-Inch is no longer available in all regions), so we’d recommend checking out all the offers while you can. Amazon is also price-matching some of the offers, so give it a look if you notice models out of stock at Samsung.

The Frame TV Save up to $1,300

Pulling double duty as a television set and picture frame, The Frame TV is a versatile 4K QLED display. Its Quantum Processor 4K helps produce impressive 4K HDR visuals, while a 120Hz refresh rate makes it pretty great as a traditional TV. It’s available in seven sizes, six of which are currently on sale.

  • 43-Inch -- $750 ($1,000)
  • 50-Inch -- $850 ($1,300)
  • 55-Inch -- $1,000 ($1,500)
  • 65-Inch -- $1,500 ($2,000)
  • 75-Inch -- $2,000 ($3,000)
  • 85-Inch -- $3,000 ($4,300)
See at Amazon See at Samsung Neo QLED TVs (4K and 8K) Save up to $2,700

Three different lineups of Neo QLED TVs are on sale -- the QN90D, the QN800D, and the QN900D. The QN90D is the most budget-friendly model, with prices starting at $900 for the 43-inch version (was $1,500). Featuring Mini LEDs, a 4K resolution, support for Dolby Atmos, and up to 144Hz refresh rates, it’s a solid option at this new low price.

Step up to the QN800D, and you’ll get an impressive 8K resolution--and 8K AI upscaling, so most programs will benefit from its brilliant display. This lineup is much more expensive, though it’s currently on sale. The cheapest model is the 65-inch, which is now $3,000 (was $3,500).

Before you pull the trigger on the QN800D, be sure to check out the QN900D--its successor. The 65-inch model is the same price as the older QN800D, making it the better choice among the two, as it comes with an upgraded processor for faster performance.

Amazon is price-matching several QN90D, QN800D, and QN900D products.

Both the S90D and S95D lineups are on sale at Samsung. Both are remarkably similar, offering 144Hz refresh rates, 4K resolutions, and the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor. The main difference is the display--the S90D features a glossy screen, whereas the S95D gets you a matte screen. The matte screen helps eliminate glare, though some users note it doesn’t look quite as vibrant as the S90D.

The S90D is also available in sizes from 42 inches to 83 inches, while the S95D is only available in three sizes (55, 65, and 77 inches). However, both products are incredibly popular and have earned high marks from buyers, and now that you can save up to $2,100, they’re an excellent choice for your game room.

The S95D (65-Inch) is on sale for $2,400 (was $3,400), while the S90D (65-Inch) is just $1,300 (was $2,700). Be sure to check out the full lineup, as you’ll save more cash on the larger displays.

Amazon is price-matching most products in the S95D and S90D lineups.

The QLED 4K Q80D and Q70D lineups comprise several products, although most are currently sold out. However, you can still find the Class QLED 4K Q80D (75-Inch) for just $1,200 (was $2,200). Along with the same NQ4 AI Gen2 processor found in the OLED TVs above, it gets you 4K AI upscaling, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and support for Dolby Atmos.

The Class QLED 4K Q70D, meanwhile, is a bit more affordable. The 75-Inch model is just $800 (was $1,800), and it shares many of the same specs as its more expensive sibling--including 120Hz refresh rates, 4K AI upscaling, and the NQ4 AI Gen 2 processor. However, most viewers will find the Q80D to offer better overall picture quality, thanks to improved HDR and a local dimming feature.

It also supports Google Home, Google Cast, Apple AirPlay, and Spotify.

While these price cuts aren’t quite as exciting as the ones above, they’re still worth a closer look. The Samsung Portable SSD T9 (1TB) is on sale for $130 (was $140). However, the massive 4TB version is down to just $320 (was $440). Regardless of capacity, the SSD offers speeds of up to 2,000 MB/s and a durable design that’s rated for drops of nearly 10 feet. Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 22:00

The next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event takes place on July 9, and the company is ready to show off its latest lineup of foldable smartphones. It’s unclear exactly what will be revealed at Unpacked, though there’s a strong possibility we’ll see successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. We’ll also likely hear more about Galaxy AI and its implementation in the new devices. While there’s a lot we don’t know, we do know that you’ll receive $50 in Samsung Credit when you reserve the device. You’ll also get up to $1,150 in additional savings--plus a ticket in a sweepstakes with a grand prize of $5,000 Samsung Credits.

See deal at Samsung

If you think you’ll be grabbing a new device later this year, reserving a unit and entering the sweepstakes is easy. Just head over to Samsung’s official website, enter your name, email, and check the box asking if you’d like to enter the sweepstakes. You can also enter your phone number (though it’s entirely optional). You’ll then have to confirm your age and state of residence before officially confirming your reservation. Note that you won’t have to put any money down, and you’re not obligated to purchase anything after placing a reservation. However, you won’t get your $50 in Samsung Credits unless you finalize your preorder following the reveal.

Samsung has been teasing several aspects of its upcoming lineup, suggesting it’ll offer new AI tools, an improved camera, a slimmer profile, and provide users with an “Ultra-experience.” Based on the livestream's "Ultra Unfolds" title, it's fair to assume that it’ll be a new foldable Ultra phone. The official reveal will take place on July 9 at 10:00 AM ET.

2022 Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus 32GB: $55 (was $120) | 64GB: $85 (was $150)

Equipped with 3GB RAM, a 2MP front-facing camera, a 5MP rear-facing camera, up to 13 hours of battery life, and a durable 8-inch HD display, it’s a pretty great value at just $55.

If you’re worried about storage space, the 64GB version is on sale for $85. However, both tablets feature a microSD card slot, allowing you to add up to 1 TB of additional storage space.

Available apps include Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and Showtime. Google Play is not supported, but you’ll find most of the big apps and games compatible with the Fire HD 8 Plus, so give it a look if you need an affordable tablet that can handle all the basics. Note that this version of the tablet features an ad-supported lockscreen.

For comparison, the newest Amazon Fire HD 8 starts at $100.

It also features an ad-supported lock screen.

Although it’s preowned, Amazon tests each device to ensure its functionality and quality. Amazon's refurbishment process includes secure data wipes and replacement of faulty hardware, so it should feel like a brand-new tablet.

Disney In Talks With OpenAI Amid Lawsuit Against Midjourney - Report

Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 20:40

Earlier this month, Walt Disney Pictures became one of the first major studios to launch a lawsuit against a leading AI company. Disney and Comcast are both going after Midjourney in court over alleged misappropriation of the studios' respective copyrighted materials. However, there's now a report that Disney is negotiating a potential partnership with OpenAI.

As reported by Bloomberg, Disney "isn't interested in licensing its full library to anyone," but it is following in the footsteps of YouTube, The Atlantic, and Vox Media regarding a possible deal with OpenAI. The report also notes that Disney approached the other major studios and streamers about joining the lawsuit against Midjourney, which is a considerably smaller company than OpenAI. But Comcast was reportedly the only studio to accept the offer because the others had "different priorities." Regardless, Disney has hinted that the Midjourney case may be just the beginning for the company's legal fight over AI.

"[The lawsuit] is part of a campaign to protect our intellectual property rights in the world of generative AI," explained Disney lawyer Horacio Gutierrez while speaking with Bloomberg. "This is our first case, but it likely won’t be the last."

The Alters Is Bringing Its Existential Crisis Fashion To The Paris Runway This Week

Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 20:37

Fashion shows typically feature a runway of interesting--but unwearable for the general masses--art, but it looks like video game The Alters is ready to invade that space. Hot off the game's release earlier this month, 11 bit studios and ZA/UM Atelier have announced that a limited collection of apparel inspired by the sci-fi survival game will be featured during Paris Fashion Week. Best of all, this clothing is now available to preorder.

Fans of the game can pick up three items: Jan Dolski's mission jacket, utility pants, and the Dolly Baa-Baag. These all feature the aesthetics of the clothing worn by Dolski in the game, as they combine a loose fit with reflective decals, and vibrant colors--exactly the kind of clothing you want to wear while racing against the clock to stop yourself from getting a lethal dose of solar radiation while stranded on an inhospitable alien rock. The Dolly Baa-Baag is also quite cute, as it references the silent sidekick from the game.

Look good and have an instant cosplay with this look.Gallery See on the ZA/UM Atelier store

The clothing is available to purchase through the ZA/UM Atelier store, but the catch here is that it's quite expensive. The mission jacket costs around $460, the utility pants are $230, and the bag is almost $200.

New Phasmophobia Update Improves The Way You Document Hauntings

Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 19:51

Phasmophobia's latest update Chronicle is here to provide a major overhaul for the way players document evidence of haunting, allowing them to record video and audio evidence for the first time in the horror game. Read on for the details, and everything else new in the latest major update.

The new update includes some changes to photo evidence, as well as adding two brand-new types of evidence to collect--videos and audio recordings--with the latter attached to a new piece of equipment, the Sound Recorder.

Where previously players could take up to ten photos per investigation, they'll now be able to capture five photos and five videos, as well as three sound recordings. Some of the types of evidence photos that didn't make a lot of sense--such as flipped light switches and items that had been manipulated by a ghost--have now become video-only evidence, meaning you'll have to capture these incidents as they happen.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Still Coming In October Despite Developer Layoffs, Publisher Says

Game News - Wed, 06/25/2025 - 19:50

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 developer The Chinese Room appears to have been hit by layoffs less than four months before the game is due to release in October. Despite the concerning timeline, publisher Paradox Interactive claims the cuts will not impact the game's intended release.

Game Developer first reported that UK studio The Chinese Room, known for its unique original titles like Dear Esther and Still Wakes The Deep, has suffered a wave of layoffs. While not publicly announced, at least nine now-former employees of the company posted to LinkedIn about losing their jobs, with the posts' wording implying they were far from the only ones impacted.

When reaching out to The Chinese Room's parent company Sumo Digital about the cuts, Game Developer also discovered that a number of employees have been cut from Sumo's communications team. Sumo Digital announced it would be restructuring earlier this year, as part of a plan to pivot away from original projects entirely to focus on co-development work. Sumo also cut 15% of its total global workforce in an earlier round of layoffs this time last year.
