Nightingale Survivor NPCs - How To Recruit Companions

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 06:08

Nightingale allows you to play as part of a group of up to six people. Still, even if you feel like being a lone wolf, there's no reason to journey on your own. That's because you can still have a follower join you on your travels. Here's our guide on how to recruit companions in Nightingale.

Table of Contents [hide]How to recruit companions in Nightingale

You can recruit companions by completing a particular task. Depending on the type of Realm that you visit, you should see icons pertaining to NPCs that you can help. If you succeed, you can talk to a survivor to recruit them as a follower.

Note: It's important to remember that you're limited to just one follower at any given time. You have to dismiss your current companion if you want to recruit a different one. Then again, at this stage of early access, NPC followers are quite generic and bland anyway.

Nightingale Fishing Guide - How To Catch And Cook Fish

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 06:04

Most of the food items that you'll eat in Nightingale come from plants and animals that are on land. However, there's a way for you to gain from the bounty of the sea. Here's our guide on how to go fishing in Nightingale.

Nightingale fishing guide - How to catch fish

To start fishing in Nightingale, you need to craft a Simple Fishing Rod. Here's a quick summary:

  • First, you have to build a Simple Workbench. It requires 10x Wood Bundle and 4x Plant Fiber.
  • As for the Simple Fishing Rod, you may need to purchase the blueprint from an Essence Trader.
  • You may then craft it if you have 1x Wood Bundle, 2x Animal Fiber, and 1x Bones. Note that Animal Fiber and Bones come from creatures that you skin.
  • Note that the "simple" types of structures and craftable items in Nightingale are early-game variants. There are higher-tier versions that you can unlock and use later in the campaign.

Once you have a Simple Fishing Rod, make sure it's assigned to an action key. Then, head over to a body of water (i.e. a pond, lake, or the coast). Press and hold the left mouse button to cast your lure, and press the left mouse button again when you get a bite. This will begin the fishing minigame.

Indiana Jones Game Director Says Over Reliance On Nazis As Villains Is A "Creative Lapse"

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 05:43

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will once again see the titular action hero battling against Nazis while in pursuit of ancient artifacts when it releases later this year, but the writer and director of some of the most beloved Indiana Jones games of all time thinks the franchise's reliance on Hitler's armies is a "mistake" and a "creative lapse."

In an interview with Time Extension about the creation of the classic point-and-click adventure title Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Hal Barwood, who wrote the game's story and served as game director, had some choice thoughts on how the franchise has progressed since the release of Fate of Atlantis in 1992. Namely, he thinks the franchise has become formulaic. He said he was disappointed with the most recent film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, for once again featuring Nazis as villains, as Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade did before it.

"I think as the Jones' universe became formulaic to the people who were involved with it in film especially, but also in games, they just thought Nazis were an inherent part of that world," Barwood said. "I didn't think so at all. I just think it was a tremendous mistake to have Nazis in Dial of Destiny, and I just thought that resurrecting and rehashing that material was not a good idea."

During the Rainbow Six Siege Six Invitational in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Ubisoft announced its next exclusive for the Netflix Games mobile platform. The game is Rainbow Six SMOL, and it offers a much different look at the Operators of R6 than fans are used to.

Rainbow Six SMOL is a isometric roguelite shooter where players will create a new recruit and use them to lead a group of Operators through different missions. Helldivers 2 Hunter - Where To Find And Kill 25 Hunters

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 04:32

Helldivers 2 Hunters are the focus of some in-game challenges, called Personal Orders, tied to spreading Managed Democracy like a true patriot. The campaign against the bugs continues apace, but every loyal Helldiver needs to know their enemies to bring managed democracy to the stars. That’s where we come in. Read on to find out about Hunters in Helldivers 2.

What are Hunters?

Hunters are average-sized bugs that are largely white, with reddish-orange wings on the sides of their heads they deploy when they are about to attack. They jump long distances and attack rapidly with scythe-like arms, making it easy to be overwhelmed by them in the heat of battle.

There are smaller versions of them that travel in packs with their orange (basic) and green (bile) counterparts, but those don’t count towards Personal Order kills.

Gigantic: Rampage Edition Revives The Indie MOBA After Five Years Away

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 04:00

After being released in 2017 by Motiga and only lasting a year before the servers were turned off, a cult favorite MOBA is returning with new devs and new ideas. Gearbox Publishing and Abstraction Games have announced Gigantic: Rampage Edition, which will launch April 9 for consoles and PC.

Gigantic: Rampage Edition will retain the five-on-five multiplayer online battle arena gameplay of its original release, as well as all of the content from that first go-round. However, this new Rampage Edition makes some key changes that the developers hope will keep history from repeating itself.

First and foremost, Gigantic will not be a free-to-play experience this time around, instead launching as a premium release for $20. The game will receive free updates post-launch, which include a ranked mode and new hero skins.

Helldivers 2 Smashes GTA 5's Concurrent Steam Player Record Amid Server Issues

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 03:59

Helldivers 2 is a smash hit by any standard, but as online shooter fans well-know, huge player count can also cause major drawbacks. Recently, Arrowhead Game Studio's latest game hit a staggering 411,359 concurrent players amid server stability issues as the game struggles to accommodate so many new faces.

As shown by SteamCharts, the PvE shooter has smashed the peak concurrent player counts for many other high-profile games, most recently GTA 5. The ongoing server problems have resulted in players suffering long queue times or mysterious bugs as a result. For example, on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, a popular post (apparently from an official QA source) indicates that a black-screen glitch that players have been reporting is related to servers being at capacity.

Over the weekend, Arrowhead instituted a temporary cap of 450k simultaneous players (between both PS5 and Steam) to try to deal with a massive player spike. A recent update from Arrowhead's production director indicates that there's an update coming that will help solve some of the issues, though that director also emphasizes that the situation will improve "over the days and weeks to come."

Netflix Puts One Of Its Best Movies On YouTube For Free

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 03:21

Netflix has released Oscar-nominated Nimona on YouTube, where it's now free to stream. The animated movie, based on the award-winning graphic novel by ND Stevenson, follows the titular teenager, a trouble-making shapeshifter voiced by Chloë Grace Moretz, as she assists knight Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed) in clearing his name for the murder of his queen. The movie was recently nominated for Best Animated Feature for the Academy Awards.

Standing with generally favorable reviews over at our sister site Metacritic with a 73, Netflix released the movie to get a wider audience for its Oscar campaign. Stevenson previously worked on Netflix's She-Ra: Princess of Power animated reboot.

Originally a production of Blue Sky Studios, it was set to be directed by Oscar winner Patrick Osborne, with a 2020 release date. However, when Walt Disney Company bought 21st Century Fox, the parent company of Blue Sky, it was delayed multiple times before being officially canceled. Annapurna Pictures revived the project the following year, with animation veterans Nick Bruno and Troy Quane announced as directors.

The Fallout: New Vegas Limp Bizkit Mod Has Finally Been Rediscovered And Approved By Fred Durst

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 03:16

One of the most important pieces of gaming history has been rediscovered, as Fallout: New Vegas fans can load up the game and once again roll into town for a meeting with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst. In fact, they might want to keep on rollin' once they find him.

There's a fun bit of history behind this mod, as it was released many years ago and gained some notoriety by 2015. The redcap menace could be found in the game once the mod had been installed, and Durst's digital doppelganger would reply with Limp Bizkit sound bites when you started a conversation with him.

Almost a decade ago, the mod vanished from its home on NexusMods and its creator confirmed that it was lost to the sands of time. "I recently reformatted my computer so doubt I have any of the files left over here," Lb8068 wrote in the YouTube comments section for the video showing off the mod.

A Complete Version Of Shin Megami Tensei 5 Could Be Coming

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 02:51

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has been ranted by the Game Rating and Administration Committee in Korea, but the listing has since been deleted.

Spotted by Gematsu, the listing said that it is a complete version of Shin Megami Tensei V containing improvements and additional content. The game has received bits of paid DLC in the form of experience and money boosters, as well as extra battles. In particular, the protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei III, the Demi-Fiend, was an optional boss battle in the Return of the True Demon DLC.

A potential "complete" version of Shin Megami Tensei V could include the already released DLC content, and "improvements" could refer to new quality of life features or technical refinements.

Helldivers 2 Devastator - Where To Find And Kill 15 Devastators

Tue, 02/20/2024 - 05:24

You've got a new mission in Helldivers 2: kill 15 Devastators. I truly hope your sleep has been restful lately, but if you have (like me) been doing your part in the campaign against the Automatons at Malevelon Creek… let’s be honest, it’s unlikely you’ve slept well. While the basic Automatons (which are legally distinct from the T-800 model) are nothing to sneeze at, it’s the arrival of the Devastators and other, heavier, robotic enemies that make this Helldiver start to sweat. Here's where to find Devastators in Helldivers 2 and how to kill them.

What are Devastators?

Devastators are the more heavily armored Automatons that comprise the first escalation from the standard, skeletal versions. They have armor plating that covers everything except their glowing red faces. They typically have a basic automatic rifle weapon in one hand, so their main threat is that their bodies are resistant to standard weapon fire.

Seen here below the yellow panel is a defeated Devastator.

It is important to note that the larger, chainsaw-handed automatons do not count as Devastators, so focus on the standard, smaller, armor-plated versions if you are fulfilling a Personal Order.

How Long To Beat Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden - Mission List And Haunting Cases Explained

Sat, 02/17/2024 - 10:17

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden isn't one of those open-world RPGs you can spend 100+ hours in and then some, but it is a fairly lengthy game that requires lots of backtracking if you want to see everything it has to offer. This is because it has a very similar structure to the God of War reboot from 2018, acting more like a Metroidvania.

The main story is split into four acts, known as Chronicles, each of which has several quests. Then there are the optional Haunting Cases, where Red and Antea must blame a living settler, or banish or ascend a ghost. Here are all the details on how long Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is, all the main quests, and how Haunting Cases work.

How long is Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden?

If you only tackle the main story and ignore most of the side content in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, you can expect your playthrough to take around 25-30 hours. This includes the prologue when you first arrive at New Eden Town, all the way through to trudging back through New Eden and making your way back to the meetinghouse to face off against The Nightmare again.

Helldivers 2 - Where To Find Bile Spewers And How to Kill Them

Sat, 02/17/2024 - 09:39

If you're anything like me, Helldivers 2 Bile Spewers have killed you quite a few times and you would love nothing more than to carry out your revenge in the most dastardly way possible. Well, you're in luck; I’m here to help as an expert in Bile Spewer obliteration. Read on to find out where to find Bile Spewers, and how to not only survive your encounters with them, but how to start looking forward to them.

What are Bile Spewers?

Bile Spewers are the bloated (almost glowing) green and orange bugs located in the Terminid regions. They are much larger than almost any other bugs, so you’ll certainly know them when you see them, but if you need help identifying them, they are the ones that spew glowing green bile like they had too much Gatorade before getting on a roller coaster.

Although they do not appear as mini-bosses or main mission objectives, they can wreak havoc on your missions if you aren’t prepared for them, you get caught unaware, or you encounter multiple at a time.

Apex Legends - All Legend Upgrades And Shield Cores Explained

Sat, 02/17/2024 - 09:03

Apex Legends Season 20: Breakout has brought with it a massive amount of changes to Respawn's popular battle royale, with Ranked Mode being entirely reworked, a new, streamlined crafting system, updates to the Firing Range, and more. But the most significant of these changes are, without question, the removal of EVO Shields from the loot pool and the introduction of the Legend Upgrades system, as well as Shield Cores.

The new shield mechanic and Legend Upgrades system go hand-in-hand, but with 100 new Legend abilities introduced to the game and no EVO Shields in the loot pool, players have questions. Is shield-swapping still a viable tactic? What new abilities are now available for each Legend? How do Shield Cores fit into the equation? But whether you're an Apex Legends veteran or a new player, we've got you covered, so keep reading for a detailed breakdown of the game's complicated (but delightfully customizable) new meta.

Table of Contents [hide]Are EVO Shields really gone?

EVO Shields are no longer a part of the loot pool in battle royale mode (though they function essentially the same as they previously did in Mixtape Mode). Gone are the days of spotting a purple body shield through a wall and yoinking it into your inventory via Loba's Black Market ability, leveling up a shield and dropping it for a teammate, or quickly snagging a fresh shield from the ground mid-firefight.
