Epic Cracks Down On Fortnite Cheat Seller And DDoSer

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 06:39

As one of the biggest games in the world, Fortnite has long had its fair share of bad actors targeting it and its players. Epic Games has responded over the years by beefing up its safety and security capacities and investing in protective measures to ensure the stability of the game.

Recently, Epic took legal action against two individuals, a cheat seller and the perpetrator of a string of DDoS attacks against Fortnite creators. According to Epic's comments on the matter, the DDoSer had been disrupting livestreams of Fortnite content, in addition to conducting "stream sniping" campaigns. The other person, meanwhile, had been selling and using permanent Fortnite bans.

We took legal action against two people who cheated and broke our rules:
One sold and used cheats and the other carried out cyber attacks on content creators who were livestreaming gameplay (aka: DDoS attacks). Both have been ordered to stop these activities and are banned from…

— Epic Games Newsroom (@EpicNewsroom) July 14, 2025

While Epic did not share exactly what type of legal action it took, both individuals have received bans from Fortnite and have posted public apologies on their YouTube channels. Their social media accounts have also been scrubbed of content.

Overwatch 2 Changes Aren't In Response To Marvel Rivals, Says Director

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 06:30

Late last year, Overwatch 2 got some serious competition in the realm of hero shooters when NetEase launched Marvel Rivals. A number of new Overwatch 2 features have also drawn comparisons to Marvel Rivals, including the recent reveal of the third-person Stadium mode. But according to Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller, Stadium mode and other features weren't made in response to Marvel Rivals. Instead, many of them were planned before Marvel Rivals debuted.

"I think that competition is healthy," said Keller during a guest appearance on Jay3's stream. "It does force people to innovate more and to always be putting your best foot forward, but I don't think what you're seeing in Overwatch 2 right now is a response to Marvel Rivals. So much of what we were doing this year--from perks to Stadium to map voting, we did full hero bans--so much of what we're doing here and all the heroes we're releasing has been in the works for over a year as part of a new strategy for the game to have a big annual kick off to the year."

Keller suggested that there may things added to Overwatch 2 in the future if the games are still actively competing, but he didn't add any specifics beyond that. During the same stream, Keller acknowledged that Overwatch 2 has had very little of the story content, cinematics, and animated shorts that helped define the world in the first game. However, he expressed a desire to place more emphasis on story in the future.

When Is The Next Nintendo Direct? It Could Be Coming In July

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 05:40

The next Nintendo Direct might be coming up very soon. That's according to reputable source Nate the Hate, who said during a podcast today, July 14, that the next Direct is slated for this month.

"It is the million dollar question. I have been told there is a Direct this month, the month of July, but that Direct will not take place until after Donkey Kong Bananza releases," he said. "Beyond that, I have no additional information. I do not have information as to the exact timing at this point."

Bananza launches on July 17 for Switch 2, so a possible Direct would happen after that if this report proves to be accurate.

The Next Guilty Gear Game Has Been Cancelled, Franchise Is "Back To The Drawing Board" - Report

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 05:23

Guilty Gear Strive has been carrying the banner of Arc System Works's tenured fighting game franchise since 2021, with four seasons of downloadable characters following in the years since launch. The game was conspicuously absent from the recent Arc System Works Showcase, and a new report may have revealed why; the next Guilty Gear has reportedly been cancelled.

Via Insider Gaming and according to anonymous sources, the follow-up to Guilty Gear Strive has been internally cancelled by Arc System Works. The cancellation, per the report, happened "within the last couple of weeks," and while the new title is reportedly "back to the drawing board," the Insider Gaming article says the game is not completely dead.

The news comes after other recent reports say that Arc System Works still has "something big and exciting" planned for the franchise. Speaking with Dexerto at Anime Expo, series producer Ken Miyauchi said while some may think Strive will no longer receive updates after season four, "that's actually not true" and that the team is "preparing something big and exciting that people probably won't expect."

Fallout 5 Is Now Reportedly "Fully Greenlit"

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 05:18

Fallout 5 has reportedly been officially greenlit and development is moving forward, though who, exactly, is leading development on the new installment in the series is currently unknown.

The report comes from the latest episode of the Xbox Two Podcast, where Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden discussed how Xbox is handling Fallout as a franchise moving forward. However, he didn't know what studio would be developing Fallout 5, as he believes Bethesda Game Studios' core teams are currently busy working on additional Starfield DLC and The Elder Scrolls VI.

Corden said from what he has heard, part of the forward push for Fallout 5 and Fallout in general came at the expense of ZeniMax Online's next MMO, codenamed Blackbird, which was canceled as part of Microsoft's latest round of layoffs.

Subnautica 2 Leak Is Real, Krafton Confirms

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 03:36

Earlier this month, Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds studio co-founders Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, and former CEO Ted Gill, were reportedly forced out of the studio by parent company Krafton. One of the conflicts between the two sides was over whether Subnautica 2 is ready for early release. Now, a negative internal review of Subnautica 2 has been leaked online, and Krafton has confirmed that the document is real.

The leaked document was shared on Subnautica 2's reddit, and it critiques the current build--as of May 2025--as lacking several features that were intended to be a part of an early-access release. Most notably, the document mentions that six hours of content have been cut, a game mode has been removed, and that the build has two fewer biomes, a missing leviathan and vehicle, and a delayed narrative. The report concludes that Subnautica 2 fell short of its goals set in 2023 and recommended that the release timeline and content roadmap be reassessed. Krafton subsequently announced Subnautica 2's delay alongside a new trailer for the game.

"Milestone reviews are conducted regularly in collaboration with Krafton's creative studios across all projects," said a Krafton spokesperson while authenticating the document. "These reviews help assess development progress, define clear objectives, and ensure that each project aligns with Krafton's standards in both creativity and quality. This process is central to Krafton's commitment to delivering polished, high-quality games at the right time."

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Reveal Set For Gamescom In August

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 03:29

The "worldwide reveal" for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will take place during Gamescom Opening Night Live this August, organizer Geoff Keighley has announced.

Fans can expect to see the unveiling during the broadcast on Tuesday, August 19. The event begins at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 8 PM CEST. The official Call of Duty account posted an animated GIF of Black Ops 7 in response to Keighley's announcement, telling fans, "See you soon."

Black Ops 7 was first announced in June during the Xbox Games Showcase. Activision didn't do much in the way of hyping or teasing the reveal beforehand, and that was intentional, as the company was actively trying to copy Beyonce's approach.

Dragon Quest 7 Remake Reportedly In The Works

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 03:18

Square Enix is prepping a remake of Dragon Quest VII, according to a new report. The RPG originally launched on PlayStation in 2000 in Japan and 2001 in the US, with this new take supposedly set to arrive sometime in 2026.

According to MP1st, the Dragon Quest VII project is labeled as a "remake" instead of an "HD remake," like the recent Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake that arrived last year. So the RPG could be receiving much more than just a fresh coat of paint, such as gameplay alterations. Before then, however, Square Enix has Dragon Quest 1+2 HD-2D Remake set to launch on October 30.

Interestingly enough, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake producer Masaaki Hayasaka stated earlier this year that he would love to tackle Final Fantasy VI next. Hayasake made it clear this was just his personal preference while also noting that the beloved RPG was a major reference point for Octopath Traveler, the first HD-2D game.

Invincible VS's Next Character Revealed As Rex Splode

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 03:00

After a surprise unveiling during the Xbox Showcase last month, Invincible VS--a 3v3 fighting game from Skybound and Quarter Up, a new studio made up of multiple fighting game veteran devs--hadn't seen any new information come to light. Today, that drought ended with an explosion, as the abrasive Guardian of the Globe known as Rex Splode officially joins the playable roster.

Rex Splode's intro trailer shows off a few of his main combos and special moves, which utilize his ability to make anything he touches explode with kinetic energy. He's seen throwing exploding projectiles, turning himself into an explosive ball for multiple hits, and shoving two exploding sticks into an opponent's body before sending them off with a "polite" message.

Rex Splode joins an Invincible VS roster that currently includes Invincible himself, Atom Eve, the Viltrumite Thula, and Bulletproof. Omni-Man did make an appearance in the reveal trailer shown at the Xbox Showcase, but he has not been confirmed to be playable as of this writing.

Randomizer Mod For Elden Ring Nightreign Now Available On PC

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 02:15

Although Elden Ring Nightreign has elements of randomization, a new PC mod will let players randomize their runs in even more ways.

Created by thefifthmatt, the Nightregin Randomizer and Derandomizer can be downloaded from Nexus Mods. As the mod's name states, this also includes a derandomizer that allows for "more deterministic runs".

Given that Elden Ring Nightreign already has a procedurally generated system, the modder notes that players may only notice the difference of the randomizer with variations of Night Bosses. "Under the hood, it's creating map patterns nearly from scratch and has a tremendous amount of freedom in its placements," they write. "In the future this can be extended to randomizing enemies and bosses within maps and in-depth placement customization."

Tony Hawk 3+4's Unexpected Guitar Hero Reference Is Being Removed After Being Deemed Disrespectful

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 01:55

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 contains a number of Easter eggs and references to pop culture, but not all of them are going over well. One specific reference has been discovered that might not have been intended to be in the game in the first place, prompting the game's developer to issue a statement.

A fan discovered that a game bearing a resemblance to Guitar Hero is in a trash can. The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater developer, Neversoft, also made multiple Guitar Hero games, and some are taking the inclusion of the game in the trash can as a sign of disrespect to Neversoft (which closed in 2014). Others say it's a simple joke. For its part, Iron Galaxy said it doesn't know how this happened, but it will remove it soon.

Iron Galaxy said in a statement on Reddit, "We have the utmost respect for anyone who makes games, we're investigating how that got in there in the first place."

Diablo 4 Content Creators Just Got A Secret Glimpse Of The Game's Future

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 01:39

It sounds like big changes are on the horizon for Diablo 4. A group of Diablo 4 content creators recently took to social media to announce they'd seen the future of developer Blizzard's ARPG after attending a special presentation, and that Blizzard has "been cooking" with what it has planned.

Content creators like Maxroll's Wudijo and Lucky Luciano, as well as Warlugtv from Mobalytics, took to social media over the weekend to share their excitement and give Diablo 4 players some hope for the future based on what they had seen during a closed Blizzard presentation. Actual concrete details on what was shown weren't shared, but the social media reactions hint at updates or changes to Diablo 4's core systems as opposed to new features related to the game's second expansion slated to arrive in 2026.

It's worth keeping in mind that some of these content creators have officially worked with Blizzard in the past, and it is currently unclear if any of them were compensated for attending the meeting and offering feedback.

Battlefield 6 Open Beta Revealed In Datamining Leak, But Nothing Is Confirmed Yet

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 01:20

Battlefield 6, or whatever the new game ends up being called, is currently only available via a closed alpha test, but an open beta may be planned for the future, according to datamining efforts.

MP1ST reports that Battlefield fans have discovered a string of text in the game's code that references a "Battlefield 6 open beta." This stemmed from the game's newest client update for the Battlefield Labs test. This kind of thing is never meant to be seen by the public, so it's possible "Battlefield 6" is a placeholder name, or that there is no open beta and that the text itself is a placeholder.

Previous datamining efforts have revealed things like the first glimpse at a rumored Battlefield battle royale mode and the game's campaign.

Popular Steam Game Broken Arrow Gets New Update And Anti-Cheat Refinements

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 01:09

Not even a month after launch, Broken Arrow has received a hefty new update for the real-time strategy game. The patch lets players alter their map size in skirmish and custom lobbies; previously, this was automatically selected by the game. In addition, developer Steel Balalaika Studio has addressed anti-cheat issues.

Update 1.08 for Broken Arrow introduces new PvE scenarios on the Kaliningrad and Ruda maps, for up to three players. Meanwhile, the sprint cooldown for infantry is being slashed in half, down to 30 seconds. Steel Balalaika says it doesn't want to make too many balance changes all at once, so is starting with this alteration.

As for cheating, there have been over 2,000 players banned in Broken Arrow. However, the developer is investigating possible banishments that were unfairly handed out to people. For instance, Steel Balalaika noted on Steam that players utilizing cheats only in single-player modes could have been banned from multiplayer, since the anti-cheat system can't differentiate between the two.

Donkey Kong Bananza Spoilers Are Leaking Online Days Before Launch

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 01:08

Donkey Kong Bananza is the next major first-party exclusive to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, but story details are leaking online ahead of its release later this week.

As reported in IGN, early copies of the game have reached several fans, and story details are already being shared online. Nintendo fans are advised to be careful in their clicks and searches over the coming days ahead of the game's official release on July 17.

While story is not usually a focus in the Donkey Kong series, Donkey Kong Bananza see the titular ape partnering with a teenaged Pauline, a character who had previously leaked before her official reveal in last month's Donkey Kong Bananza Direct. The revelation has already prompted plenty of speculation over the Donkey Kong timeline and whether this game could be a prequel, or another universe altogether.

Blue Archive Player Won't Get Rewards After Event Canceled For Breaking Steam Rules

Tue, 07/15/2025 - 00:44

Following observations last week that the Blue Archive PC release could be breaking Steam policies, Nexon has announced that it has terminated a controversial in-game event. The Steam event incentivized players to leave reviews for Blue Archive on Valve's storefront, which goes against the Steamworks documentation. Alongside the event's termination, no rewards earned for reaching the goal will be distributed.

In a statement posted to the Steam news section for Blue Archive, Nexon says that "following the launch of the Steam client, we prepared this event and rewards for all Senseis as a way to create a better service together through your valuable feedback. However, during the process of announcing the reward distribution linked to review submissions, we discovered that certain aspects could potentially conflict with platform policies. As a result, we have decided to terminate the event early."

It continues, "Please understand that, in order to comply with platform policies, the rewards for this event will not be distributed." Nexon goes on to promise that it will "take even greater care" when planning future events to ensure it is not going against any other platform policies, while striving to "provide a better service" for its players.

Bluey is one of the most popular animated shows in the United States, with viewers streaming more than 55 billion minutes of the cartoon in 2024. And if you're a fan of the show, consider checking out preorders for the upcoming Bluey Gnome Plush Bundle. Exclusive to Amazon, the bundle pulls together the Bluey: The Videogame and one of two adorable gnome plushies. It’s set to release on October 17--but since the show is so popular, we’d recommend preordering a unit before they sell out.

Bluey Gnome Plush Bundle $50 | Releases October 17

Bluey: The Videogame isn’t new--in fact, it launched back in 2023. Reviews were mixed for the title, though fans of the animated cartoon will likely find something to enjoy about the simple adventure. What makes this version compelling, however, is the exclusive Gnome Plush.

Each bundle comes with one of two different gnomes, making it a fun surprise for young Bluey fans. While the video game is available on most consoles, this bundle is limited to Nintendo Switch (though it's fully playable on Switch 2). The standalone game regularly costs $40, so you’re essentially getting the adorable gnome for just $10.

Preorder at Amazon The two exclusive Gnome plushies

It’ll only take you a few hours to work through all the content in Bluey: The Videogame, though it does allow for cooperative multiplayer with up to three players--giving you an easy way to extend the fun. But since the adventure is quite short, consider pairing your Bluey game and gnome with some other Bluey merch. Bluey: Seasons 1-3 (Blu-ray) is also on sale for just $26 (was $50), which happens to be its lowest price of all time. Consider adding it to your collection while it’s super cheap.

Looking for a plush beyond the gnomes in this upcoming bundle? You can pick up a Bluey & Bingo Small Plush Bundle for just $16 (was $17), or snag the comfy Bluey Pillow Pet for $29 (was $35). Both are great choices for young fans of the show, though the Pillow Pet is much larger at over a foot wide and 9 inches long. From Blu-rays and Lego sets to plushies and more, here’s a look at some of our favorite Bluey gear.
