Alex Hirsch's The Book of Bill, the first Gravity Falls book for adult readers, proved immensely popular with fans when it hit store shelves last July. The illustrated novel (of sorts) debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times Best Seller list and remained on the list through the holiday season. Gravity Falls fans who haven't picked up Bill's origin story, as told by Bill, can snag the hardcover edition for only $16 (was $27) at Amazon, where it holds a 4.8/5 star review average based on 4,700+ customer ratings.

Alternatively, you can wait for the upcoming limited edition that's bundled with a handful of extras. The Book of Bill Limited Collector's Edition releases September 23 and is up for preorder for $40 at Amazon. Considering how popular the original edition was, it wouldn't be surprising if the limited-edition version sells out ahead of or shortly after release. With Amazon's preorder price guarantee, you'll automatically get the best price offered from the time you order until your book ships.

Fantastic Four Nikes Are Coming To Fortnite

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 06:23

The MCU's version of the Fantastic Four is finally making its debut on July 25, and it will come as absolutely no surprise whatsoever that it looks like Marvel's First Family will receive Fortnite skins to mark the occasion. But it also appears they're bringing with them something a little more unusual skins for this sort of collaboration: a set of four pairs of Nike kicks, with each pair themed after a member of the Fantastic Four.

The shoes were added to the files with Tuesday's patch and decrypted when the shop updated on Tuesday evening. The set includes a pair of Harbor Blue Air Max 90s for Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, clear Air Force 1s with a blue swoosh to represent Sue Storm/the Invisible Woman, red and orange Air Max 95s for Johnny Storm/the Human Torch, and orange Dunks for Ben Grimm/The Thing. The set will apparently have a bundle, which would make this the first Kicks bundle to come with more than three pairs. We don't know when these shoes will land in the item shop, but it will likely be during the week before Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25.

What's particularly interesting about these shoes is that, like all Nike kicks in Fortnite, all four of these pairs are real shoes that were available to purchase. These Fantastic Four Nikes were originally released in 2006 as a tie-in with Fox's Fantastic Four movies, which hit theaters in 2005 and 2007, and you can read more about them over at Sneaker News.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Will Offer Switch 2 Upgrade Path And Cross-Progression

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 05:40

Sega has shared new details about Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on Switch 2, confirming the game will arrive digitally this holiday season on the console with an upgrade path for original Switch owners. Then, next year, the game will get a physical release for Nintendo's new system with "the full base game on a 64GB cartridge."

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will launch September 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Switch--with preorders already available. This is the first release window Sega has provided for the Switch 2 version, adding that Switch players who pay the $10 upgrade fee for Switch 2 will carry over their progression. That also means the Switch 2 edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will cost $70 (the same as PS5 and Xbox Series X) instead of Switch's price point of $60. Last but not least, cross-platform matchmaking is a go on Switch 2.

PS Plus Members Can Claim A New Fortnite Skin Right Now

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 03:59

This week's Fortnite update, the game's first in a month, brought with it a major goodie for a lot of the folks who play on a PlayStation console: a new PlayStation Plus-exclusive skin. The new Emerald Gamer pack is included at no extra cost with any level of PS Plus membership, and can be claimed in the PlayStation Store on PS4 and PS5, in the PS App, or on the web. In order to unlock the skin in-game, you will need to actually load up Fortnite on a PlayStation device at least once after claiming it from the store. Once you've done so, the skin will be usable on any platform.

All PS+ members can claim the Emerald Gamer pack now.

This new pack includes the brand-new Sage skin, as well as a matching back bling and pickaxe. While most PS Plus skins have been redone versions of existing skins, like how the Shinji skin in the previous PS Plus pack was a new variation of Master Key from the Chapter 1 Season 8 battle pass, Sage is actually an original character design. The Emerald Gamer pack will remain in the PlayStation Store until September 23.

The Emerald Gamer pack is the 30th PlayStation Plus pack for Fortnite thus far, and none of the items included in any of the previous packs have ever been sold in the item shop, so these items are generally considered to be exclusive despite not explicitly being stated as such.

Mortal Kombat 2 Trailer Will Premiere This Week

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 03:51

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema shared some intentionally cheesy Johnny Cage movie posters to promote Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the 2021 reboot movie. But the wait to see Mortal Kombat 2's first trailer is almost over, because it's going to drop tomorrow morning.

Warner Bros. YouTube page is currently hosting a "kountdown" to debut the Mortal Kombat 2 trailer on Thursday, July 17 at 8:05 AM PT, which works out to 11:05 AM ET. Karl Urban is one of the most notable new additions to the cast as Johnny Cage, alongside Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, and Tati Gabrielle as Jade.

The first movie introduced a new character, Cole Young (Lewis Tan), who served as a focal point for the film. Tan is reprising his role in the sequel, but it's unclear if Cole will once again be in the leading role. Several cast members will also make their return, including Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson "Jax" Briggs, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion.

Karl Urban As Mortal Kombat's Johnny Cage Gets A Fake Action-Movie Trailer

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 03:34

In anticipation of the Mortal Kombat 2 movie trailer tomorrow, Karl Urban's Johnny Cage got his own trailer treatment for a fake action movie, Uncaged Fury. The movie trailer sees Mortal Kombat's marketing team treat Johnny like the action star he is. This is very different from Linden Ashby's version from the 1995 movie, where Cage's star had fallen and was seen as a joke, having to lower himself to cheesy martial-arts movies.

The pseudo-trailer has Urban's Johnny taking on several armed men and even dodging a bazooka blast. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon even posted a fake poster for Uncaged Fury earlier this week, setting the stage for what they're going for. Think Chris Evans as Lucas Lee from Scott Pilgrim or Ben Stiller as Tugg Speedman from Tropic Thunder, and you get the vibe.

As Mortal Kombat's Johnny is a bona fide martial arts expert, he used his talent to launch a lucrative Hollywood career. Cage, an homage/parody to Jean Claude Van Damme, usually serves up fists and kicks for his attacks, all the while protecting his "bad ass" image, sporting shades and doing his best to look cool.

Ubisoft's New Spun-Off Division Is Being Led By Yves Guillemot's Son, And He Believes GenAI Will "Revolutionize" Gaming

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 03:03

Since its foundation nearly 40 years ago, Ubisoft has been a family company, with the Guillemot brothers steering the French gaming giant. That tradition is continuing with the new spun-off subsidiary of the company funded in part by Tencent, with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot's own son, Charlie Guillemot, being named as the co-CEO along with Ubisoft Montreal veteran Christophe Derennes.

The two men will lead the new subsidiary that aims to "accelerate the growth" of Ubisoft's main franchises: Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry.

Charlie Guillemot got his start in gaming at Owlient in 2014, and Ubisoft later acquired the horse simulation game developer. He left Ubisoft in 2021 before rejoining the company earlier this year leading up to his promotion to co-CEO. As for Derennes, he was a co-founder of Ubisoft Montreal in 1997 and was most recently the managing director for Ubisoft's North American operations.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Will Clear $7.6 Billion In First 60 Days, Investment Firm Predicts

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 02:50

Making predictions about Grand Theft Auto 6 is a bit tricky considering that the game is still at least 10 months away. It's not a question about whether GTA 6 will be a hit, hit, but how big and how far the impact will be felt. Video game venture capitalist firm Konvoy recently released its projections for GTA 6, and it's predicting that Rockstar Games' latest title will reach $7.6 billion in revenue just 60 days after launch.

Josh Chapman--a managing partner of Konvoy--shared the company's GTA 6 forecast on Linkedin earlier this week. Konvoy's analysis makes certain assumptions that have yet to be confirmed by Rockstar, including an $80 base price and a $2 billion budget for the game itself. Those numbers are still conjecture, and the CEO of Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, recently said that there is "way more value to a consumer than whatever that consumer pays," as opposed to "what the top-line price is."

Regardless, Konvoy believes that GTA 6 will recoup its estimated $2 billion budget in under 30 days and go on to become the biggest gaming launch of all time while shattering records for copies sold and revenue generated. By the end of the second month, Konvoy predicts that the game's total revenue will be $7.6 billion.

A Dungeon Full Of Terror And Fun: Horrified Meets D&D In Legendary Fashion

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 02:49

The Horrified series of board games by Ravensburger pits players against iconic monsters with a handful of expansions spanning across pop culture and mythology. Over six years, players have gone up against creatures of the night, such as the Universal monsters, elder evils like Cthulhu, and mythical monsters like the Minotaur and Medusa. Now, the latest edition has players taking on the most fearsome beasts from Dungeons & Dragons lore.

Aptly titled Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons, the game takes place in the Forgotten Realms (the same setting seen in Baldur's Gate 3) and features heroes and locations inspired by the game's extensive worldbuilding and lore. While out on August 10, Ravensburger supplied GameSpot with an advance copy of Horrified: D&D, which is more than a repackaged version of other entries in the Horrified series with D&D wrapping paper.

If you're new to Horrified, the setup is simple and extremely modular: Your team’s goal is to defeat all the monsters in play, each of which has unique challenges and puzzles before you can take them on. Players generally have four actions per turn where they can move around the game board, collect items, solve puzzles, and escort NPCs to safety, all while fending off the monsters at large. After each player’s turn, they then take the monsters' actions, which are controlled by a monster deck, adding tension and unpredictability.

Despite grossing over $177 million during its theatrical run and becoming an instant comedy classic, The 40-Year-Old Virgin has never managed to make the jump to 4K Blu-ray. Both versions are available to preorder now ahead of their August 12 release dates. Regardless of which version you preorder, you'll find both the theatrical and unrated cuts of the 2005 comedy, along with over two hours of bonus features, making this an excellent way to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary.

The Limited Edition Steelbook features an exclusive case featuring all the main cast members on the front and a hilarious shot of Carrell on the interior.

Preordering either version of the The 40-Year-Old Virgin 20th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray at Amazon entitles you to any discounts between now and release, and you won't be charged until the item ships.

One Of Pokemon TCG Pocket's Worst Features Will Be Revamped July 29

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 01:53

Pokemon TCG Pocket's unpopular trading system will be dramatically overhauled soon, with an in-game notification stating an update to rework the system is coming on July 29.

Trading, a highly requested feature, was added to the free-to-play mobile card game back in January, but it didn't take long for players to find plenty of flaws with the system. It introduced a new special trading currency, Trade Tokens, and featured tons of restrictions on what cards could be traded and with who.

Shortly after trading was added, The Pokemon Company acknowledged it had missed the mark. In a statement, it said the game's restrictive trading system was made to "prevent abuse from bots and other prohibited actions using multiple accounts," but actually ended up "preventing players from being able to casually enjoy the feature as intended." It stated it would be looking at ways to make bigger changes, but in the meantime would offer more ways to earn Trade Tokens through events.

Fans Think GTA 6 Was Teased In An Unexpected Way

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 01:21

A new music video from Jackboys & Travis Scott seemingly contains a reference to GTA 6, prompting fans to theorize that the "Sicko Mode" singer may have some involvement in the Rockstar game.

At the end of the video for "2000 Excursion," a car with the license plate "GTA VI6" can be seen prominently. Not only that, but it appears to be a Florida license plate, which is notable because GTA 6 takes place in Vice City, a stand-in for Miami, Florida. Have a look for yourself:

The GTA 6 reference doesn't necessarily mean anything, but Scott does have a history of partnering with video game companies. In 2020, Scott teamed up with Epic Games for an epic Fortnite concert, scoring himself a reported $20 million.

The Night Of The Living Dead Remake Getting A 35th Anniversary 4K Blu-Ray

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 01:11

While the original Night of the Living Dead from 1968 is the best-known version of the iconic zombie movie, it also received a remake in 1990 that features a reworked script, enhanced special effects, and a new ending. Later this year, the 1990 edition is getting a new Steelbook Edition 4K Blu-ray release to celebrate its 35th anniversary. Alongside a 4K remastering of the original theatrical version of the film, the Night of the Living Dead (1990) 35th Anniversary 4K Steelbook Edition will also include an all-new, uncensored version of the movie and tons of bonus features. Preorders are now open at Amazon and Walmart ahead of its release on September 23.

Night of the Living Dead (1990) 35th Anniversary 4K Steelbook Edition Blu-ray $41.49 | Releases September 23

This premium edition of Night of the Living Dead (1990) includes 4K Blu-ray formats of an all-new, uncensored version of the film and the original theatrical version. Both support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The two discs are packaged inside a steelbook case featuring cover art of the film's original poster artwork.

Walmart is currently listing the steelbook for $40, while Amazon is a bit more expensive at $41.49. Zynga Boss Says Star Wars Hunters Was "No Failure" Despite Imminent Shutdown

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 00:38

Typically, when a live-service game is shut down by its publisher, the assumption is the game failed to perform in some way--usually financially--and that its underwhelming performance resulted in its discontinuation. Star Wars Hunters--Zynga's multiplayer shooter set in the Star Wars universe--is being shut down in October, but despite a lower-than-anticipated attach rate, Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau says it was "no failure" at all.

Speaking with The Game Business, Gibeau said that the team at Zynga built a "great tech base" and a "fun game" with Hunters, but the game did not emerge as a "viable business." Specifically, Gibeau cites a lack of "organic installs from the license" as a contributing factor in its imminent discontinuation.

Star Wars Hunters

"We had some issues with how we could explore the intellectual property--could you play Darth Vader or could you not? That sort of thing," Gibeau said. "We ended up with a cross-platform game on Switch and mobile that ran perfectly. It was fun. But it didn't engage over the long term. And it wasn't a viable business."

Original Dead Island 2 In 2014 "Sucked," Says Former Deep Silver Exec

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 00:32

To say Dead Island 2's development was rocky is probably an understatement. The action-RPG took nine years from reveal to launch and went through multiple studios in the process. Now, former Deep Silver head of communications Martin Wein has revealed part of what happened after the sequel was unveiled at Sony's E3 2014 press conference. Basically, the game as it existed then "sucked," he said.

GamesIndustry.biz reports that Wein opened up about Dead Island 2 at a Develop:Brighton panel when he was asked whether he could remember a time when marketing or player research assisted in game development. "I can actually give you an example where myself and the product team caused about an eight-year product delay," said Wein.

Now with GameFlex Consultants, Wein stated that he and his team "were mightily proud" of Dead Island 2's reveal trailer--seen above. The video sees a jogger going for a run on the beachfront before turning into a zombie himself. About a month after the trailer's debut, Wein said that "we had a major milestone with the development studio that was in charge at that time. And boy, that game sucked."

Save On New Sci-Fi Novel From The Witcher And Cyberpunk Writer

Thu, 07/17/2025 - 00:21
See at Amazon (Paperback) See at Amazon (Kindle)

One of the writers for The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, Jakub Szamalek, just published his latest thriller novel, Inner Space, on July 15. The book sounds quite a bit different from the plot lines of the games Szamalek has worked on, taking place aboard the International Space Station and following a gripping plot about real-world conflicts and espionage. Nevertheless, fans of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077--and anyone looking for a grounded, realistic sci-fi and spy thriller, for that matter--can grab a 20% launch discount on the paperback edition at Amazon, dropping the novel to $15.19 (was $19). There's also a Kindle version available for $13. Early reviews are positive for the book, so be sure to check it out before this deal disappears.

Inner Space: A Novel Paperback: $15.19 (was $19) | Kindle: $13

Inner Space follows Lucy Poplasky, a commander aboard the International Space Station. The station is experiencing an ammonia leak, which just so happens to coincide with Russia's invasion of Ukraine--and the US believes the ammonia leak could be an act of sabotage. However, when the Russians aboard the ISS claim to know nothing about the source of the leak, tensions quickly escalate. Beyond serving as a fast-paced thriller, it explores the concept of space travel and the reasons why humanity has chosen to explore the stars.

The paperback edition of Inner Space is currently available for $15.19 (was $19), though it's unclear how long this 20% launch deal will last. If you prefer digital formats, the Kindle edition isn't on sale, but it's quite affordable at $13. You can also download a free sample of the book's intro, so you can give it a quick read to see if it catches your interest.

Beyond working on two hit CDPR games, Szamalek is the narrative director for the upcoming The Blood of Dawnwalker, which received an extended gameplay demo earlier this year. It revealed a bunch of gruesome vampire powers--though you'll need to pay close attention to the position of the sun, as none can be used during the day. If you're interested in checking out Szamalek's narrative chops before the game releases next year, consider adding Inner Space to your bookcase while it's cheap.
