Escape Godzilla's Wrath In Minecraft's Latest DLC

Game News - Wed, 01/31/2024 - 09:08

Thanks to a Minecraft blog post, we know that the DLC will cost 1,510 Minecoins (Minecraft's premium currency), which equates to roughly $10. Before players choose which modes they want to play, they'll load into a theater that'll be "covered in iconic memorabilia" and be able to interact with items that they've unlocked.

The DLC will have four different adventures, each based on one of Godzilla's films. The first mission will have players trying to escape the city and Godzilla's heat rays while looking for loot. While they're escaping, players will receive additional points for saving others.

Super Bowl 2024 Commercials Roundup: Watch The Big Game Commercials Right Now

Game News - Wed, 01/31/2024 - 08:25

Super Bowl 58 takes place on February 11, 2024, with the Kansas City Chiefs hitting the gridiron to take on the San Francisco 49ers. This will Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' fourth Super Bowl in five years. And sure, while many of us will be tuning in for the football game or the shots of Taylor Swift cheering on her boyfriend, there's a far more important reason to watch the Super Bowl: The commercials.

Given the size of the TV audience that tunes into the big game ever year, advertisers are eager to show off their products and services, and are willing to pay top dollar. CBS and Paramount+ (the broadcast network and streaming service that are airing the game in 2024) wanted $7 million for a 30-second ad played during the 58th Super Bowl. And yes, every single slot has been sold out, so it'll be a packed game.

But what about getting all of the ads in one place, without all of that pesky football getting in the way? Thankfully, Super Bowl commercials start releasing in the week before the big game these days, meaning we can already watch some of them right now. Stay tuned to this post, as we will continue to add new commercials as they are released--and, of course, we'll make sure to post any that don't pop online before the game once they've aired on TV. So strap in for good times that include Arnold Schwarzenegger as a State Farm agent, Jenna Ortega selling us chips, and Ice Spice representing Starry, which is basically just the replacement for Pepsi's Sierra Mist.

Game News - Wed, 01/31/2024 - 06:05

Evan Rachel Wood, who starred on HBO's Westworld as Dolores, has discussed the show's abrupt cancellation, saying it was "devastating" in part because she doesn't know how the series was supposed to end.

"We were just always told, 'We know how the show ends,' when we started," she said. "They weren't writing it as we went along. They had an idea, and we were all just on a bed of nails waiting to see and hear what the conclusion of this was. What it all meant."

When HBO announced that Westworld would end with Season 4, and the planned fifth season would not go ahead, Wood said she and her castmates were caught off guard.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League - Multiplayer And Cross-Play Explained

Game News - Wed, 01/31/2024 - 05:19

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League might be set in the same universe as the Batman Arkham games, but it works entirely differently when it comes to gameplay. You have the choice of playing Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League as a solo player or up to four-player co-op, with all of your friends able to pick a different character from the squad. However, getting co-op working can be a hassle, and you might also have questions about how cross-play works. This guide will answer all of your questions about playing solo, multiplayer, and how all of this intertwines with cross-play in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

How cross-play works in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

First up, let's go over exactly how the cross-play system works. Fortunately for players with friends on different platforms, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League features fully functioning cross-play and cross-progression systems. This means you can team up with your friends or other players on a different platform than you when trying to play in co-op. Also, with cross-progression, you can access your account's save files and progress on any available platform.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, so, for example, you can go from PC to PS5 and maintain all of your progress. However, this does mean you need to own Kill The Justice League on both platforms you're trying to play on, as the copies of the game are platform-specific. In addition to keeping your gameplay progress, you also keep all of your in-game purchases, including the battle pass.

Destiny 2's Mass Effect Crossover Brings Some Stylish N7 Fashion To The Game

Game News - Wed, 01/31/2024 - 04:36

Destiny 2 is getting a bunch of new content starting this week, and for fans of BioWare's space-opera Mass Effect, you can look forward to some stylish new armor sets direct from that game universe next month. Available in Destiny 2's Eververse store starting February 13, there'll be a Commander Shepard-inspired N7 armor set for Titans, a Garrus-inspired Vakarian set for Hunters, and a Liara-inspired Shadow Broker set for Warlocks.

Commander Shepard-approved gear, coming soon to Destiny 2.

All players can claim the Alliance Requisitions Bundle for free, adding an Enhanced Defense Ghost Shell, Alliance Scout Frigate ship, and the Alliance Drop Ship Sparrow to their collection. This isn't the first time that Destiny has crossed paths with other video games, as there have been Assassin's Creed and Witcher crossovers in the past.

These are purely cosmetic pieces to change the look of your armor with, and the aesthetic of Mass Effect meshes surprisingly well with Destiny's unique artistic direction. Like other armor sets, you will have to fork out some cash to own these, as they're normally priced at 2,000 Silver. In real-world cash, that works out to $20 for the Destiny 2 premium currency.

Blizzard Bans A Controversial Way To Obtain Gear In New WoW Classic Season

Game News - Wed, 01/31/2024 - 04:33

A popular way of earning loot inside World of Warcraft Classic has been banned in the MMORPG's latest season, with Blizzard listening to player concerns over how the activity may do more harm than good.

The activity in question is called a GDKP, which stands for gold dragon kill points. It's based on the DKP system of loot distribution that was more popular back in the olden days of Blizzard's MMO but is still used by some guilds today. It's a system that doles out loot based on how much DKP players have accumulated, with guilds having different systems on how many points a player can accumulate for attending raids, downing bosses, and participating in various guild activities. Players can then essentially bid on rare items that drop using their DKP. The more DKP a player earns, the more DKP they have to "spend" on items.

GDKP takes that system, and instead of using imaginary points, uses in-game gold instead. This way of earning loot became a popular way for players with more gold than time to earn loot, and an equally popular way for top guilds to earn gold when WoW Classic released in 2019, as the guild hosting the GDKP would pocket all the gold players used to "purchase" items.

Our Sonic Superstars review gave it a 7/10 for its impressive level design and gorgeous graphics, though knocked it for a handful of challenging (and tedious) boss fights.

Best Buy has plenty of other games on sale besides Sonic Superstars. More than two dozen digital Switch games are on sale, including big names like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and New Pokemon Snap. There are also a ton of multiplatform games with price cuts on Switch, Xbox, and PS5. You'll find a few of the best deals below.

Spec Ops: The Line Devs Also Don't Know Why The Game Was Delisted From Steam

Game News - Wed, 01/31/2024 - 01:20

Spec Ops: The Line has been delisted from Steam, with no explanation given from publisher 2K Games as to why the 2012 action game is no longer available to purchase on that digital marketplace. Responding to the surprise delisting, the game's director, Cory Davis, said that it "makes no sense" to see Spec Ops: The Line taken down from Steam.

"Makes no sense --especially because the themes portrayed in Spec Ops: TheLine are more relevant now than ever," Davis wrote in a tweet. "Why has this happened 2K [and] Steam?"

For anyone with a sudden urge to explore the dark themes and sandy action of Spec Ops: The Line, it's not all bad news as the game can still be purchased on other platforms like GOG, the Xbox marketplace, and through key resellers.
