Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a critically acclaimed anime adaptation of Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe's manga. The fantasy series follows the titular elf mage Frieren as she sets off on a long journey to find the resting place of souls so that she can reunite with her former comrade Himmel, who led the party to slay the Demon King decades ago. As an elf, Frieren is blessed--or cursed--with an absurdly long lifespan, and she experiences time differently from her human companions. The show earned high praise from audiences and critics for its nuanced characters, gorgeous animation, and detailed fantasy world-building.
While these Blu-ray releases will catch up on the anime's run so far, they're not the entire story, and the show's second season is scheduled to debut in January 2026. However, if you can't wait that long, you can read ahead with the original Frieren manga. Volumes 1-13 have been localized to English and are available now, while Volume 14 is available to preorder at Amazon.

Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield has said he has "quite a few ideas" for what he wants to make next, and one of them is Dead Space 4. With EA's pending $55 billion sale to an investor consortium for $55 billion, Schofield said he thinks "there's an opportunity" to make it happen.
He told IGN, "I'm already making calls."
Schofield did not return for Dead Space 2 or Dead Space 3, and he told VGC that he played "just a little bit" of the 2023 remake and enjoyed it. The developer also mentioned in the IGN interview that he thinks the 2023 remake did not make money, and he feels EA may look to dump the franchise.

When Ubisoft launched The Crew 2 in 2018, there weren't any options to bring this online racing game offline. Now, seven years later, The Crew 2 has finally received its much-requested offline mode.
Starting today, PC players can download an update from Ubisoft and enjoy The Crew 2 without an internet connection with Hybrid Mode. The console update for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be released later today.
Players now have the option of picking either online or offline when starting up the game. If players aren't connected to the internet, then The Crew 2 will automatically switch to offline. Ubisoft notes that saves for the two modes are completely separate, and progress made offline will not carry over to online. However, players can export a copy of their online save to their computer or console for the offline mode.

Speaking to VGC, Schofield said of Microsoft's ownership of Call of Duty, "I worry about it immensely, I really do. Because what's happening here is a war."
"Unfortunately, once you're assimilated by one of these companies, I think you take on some of their traits," he added.

Diablo 4 may be far more challenging come Season 11, with a slew of updates set to address monster behavior and difficulty.
As detailed by Blizzard, the goal is to have monsters starting with Season 11 more regularly test players' defenses and force players to interact with them in new ways. Enemy monsters will see changes to make their behavior less predictable, while at the same time making it so each type of monster will have their own clear role and identity in combat. Monsters packs will also group up less, making it more difficult for players to wipe out large groups of multiple packs in a single go.
Azmodan will be a new world boss coming in Diablo 4 Season 11.A big part of the update to monsters will be new affixes, with more than 20 additional affixes for players to deal with. Elites will spawn minions that inherit some of their affixes, and affixes will in general be more powerful, requiring players to deal with them before taking out less-dangerous foes. Blizzard said that overall, monster affixes should overlap less in their design, be more visually clear, and be more engaging.

Diablo 4 Season 11 is poised to bring huge changes to Blizzard's ARPG, and will overhaul item progression, see the return of leaderboards, rework the Renown system, and even dramatically change how the game's potions work. And that's not even everything.
While noticeable changes to the core of Diablo 4 come alongside nearly every season, most notably with Season 4's Loot Reborn, Season 11 still stands out. None of these changes were detailed in the game's 2025 content roadmap, and Blizzard has teased for months that many of players' biggest gripes with the game would be addressed in a coming update. Now we finally know what Blizzard has been cooking.
Masterworking and Tempering are becoming less random in Season 11.Tempering And Masterworking OverhaulPerhaps the biggest complaint players have had since Season 4 regards the act of Tempering and Masterworking items. In the current live version of Diablo 4, Tempering allows players to add affixes to items but with a catch.

Windows 11 has been out in its current form since 2021, but Microsoft has grand visions of transforming its operating system into an even more AI-friendly system. Starting today, Microsoft is adding AI features to Windows 11 PCs that encourage users to utilize Copilot by speaking to their computers and allowing AI to perform some basic functions for them. These updates are being rolled out alongside an ad campaign that invites people to "meet the computer you can talk to."
"We think we're on the cusp of the next evolution, where AI happens not just in that chatbot and gets naturally integrated into the hundreds of millions of experiences that people use every day," Microsoft consumer chief marketing officer Yusuf Mehdi told The Verge. "The vision that we have is: Let's rewrite the entire operating system around AI, and build essentially what becomes truly the AI PC."
The new features sound similar to the Cortana voice options on Windows 10. For example, users will be able to bring their PC out of standby by saying "Hey, Copilot!" as a command. Mehdi also shared his belief that users will embrace voice controls on a greater level than they have in the past.

Though there are certainly those who believe otherwise, a market-research firm has concluded that selling GTA 6 for $100 would not be wise.
According to IGN, market-research firm MIDiA Research conducted a new study on the pricing for Rockstar's upcoming crime sim. Leaning on the Gabor-Granger pricing analysis method and surveying more than 2,000 US consumers (a small sample size), MIDiA Research concluded that $70 is the consumerist sweet spot for GTA 6. Any more than that and revenue would tank.
"Our research suggests that GTA 6 will generate more revenue at a standard $69.99 price point than the much discussed $100," MIDiA Research's Head of Data and study co-author, Perry Gresham, told IGN. "A $100 price point would actually leave money on the table.”

French developer Quantic Dream's upcoming Star Wars game, Star Wars Eclipse, remains in development, the studio confirmed today. The game was announced all the way back in 2021 and hasn't gotten many updates since then, but people fearing the worst can breathe a sigh of relief.
"Of course, development of Star Wars: Eclipse continues, and we are eager to share more with you in the future," the developer said in a blog post.
The game takes place during the High Republic era. That period, set before any of the Star Wars films, finds the Republic at its peak, but there are threats to the galaxy that players have to deal with.

Game developer Hideo Kojima is famous for his unconventional approach to, well, everything he does--but even one of his sillier marketing moves for PS5 title Death Stranding 2: On the Beach didn't immediately hit as intended.
Speaking to Japanese magazine An-An (translated by Automation), Kojima recalled an on-the-ground marketing stunt that he and other Kojima Productions team members carried out in the streets of Tokyo, passing out Death Stranding 2-branded tissue packs that included a QR code for a rather cryptic trailer of the game.
It's a campaign that might sound unusual to some, but passing out tissue packs was once a common advertising tactic in Japan, akin to advertising businesses on matchboxes. The idea here is that passersby are being handed something with functionality instead of simple flyers, which are promptly discarded afterward.

Berserk: The Golden Age Arc - Memorial Edition Steelbook (Blu-ray)
Preorder at Crunchyroll StoreDecades after the original manga series first premiered, Berserk is still regarded as the gold standard of dark fantasy. Since then, the manga has been adapted into multiple anime series--and while none have encapsulated the entire tale, each one offers a unique take on Berserk's first main story arc. One of the better versions is Berserk: The Golden Age, which began as a film trilogy in 2012 that was later adapted into a 13-episode OVA, and is returning soon with the new Berserk: The Golden Age Arc - Memorial Edition Steelbook Blu-ray. This new two-disc set compiles the entire 13-episode series in an all-new steelbook case. It'll be available for $75 starting October 28, and preorders are available exclusively at Crunchyroll's online store.
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc - Memorial Edition Steelbook (Blu-ray) $75 | Releases October 28Berserk: The Golden Age - Memorial Edition first released as a standard Blu-ray set, but this new upcoming version features an exclusive Steelbook case. It also comes a postcard-sized art card featuring Guts and the Band of the Hawk during the Battle of Doldrey.
Special features haven't been listed for this release, but it will likely feature the same bonus materials as previous Berserk: the Golden Age Blu-ray edition, which offered only textless opening and closing credits sequences.
Preorder at Crunchyroll StoreBerserk: The Golden Age is the second Berserk anime adaptation since the 1997 anime series, which also covers the Golden Age storyline from the manga. The trilogy offers a more faithful take on the source material, and it was later remastered and re-edited into a 13-episode anime series, which is what you'll find on the Memorial Edition Blu-ray. While the storyline is more accurate to the events of the manga, fans and critics were mixed on its visual style, which blends traditional 2D and 3D CG animation. Nevertheless, the film trilogy and OVA versions were both well-received overall, and this new Blu-ray should serve as an excellent way to experience one of the best story arcs in the genre.
If you don't feel like waiting for this new Steelbook edition, you can grab the standard Blu-ray version of Berserk: The Golden Age - Memorial Edition for just $42.14 at Amazon. It includes all the same on-disc content as the Steelbook edition, just in less flashy packaging.

Battlefield 6 had a record-breaking launch, Electronic Arts has announced. The game sold more than 7 million copies to become the "biggest opening ever" for the Battlefield series.
This data lines up with what an analyst said earlier this week, estimating some 7 million copies sold for an almost Call of Duty-like debut.
"It's closer to Call of Duty-tier numbers than any of EA's premium-shooter efforts so far. But the question now is whether or not EA can foster this successful launch into a platform that stands the test of time," Anliena Analytics' Rhys Elliott said.

The next title from French game developer Quantic Dream isn't what you'd expect. The studio, best known for single-player narrative adventures including Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, is putting out a multiplayer game called Spellcasters Chronicles, which will debut in a closed beta on Steam before the year ends.
Combining action and strategy with elements from MOBAs and deckbuilding games, the free-to-play Spellcasters Chronicles appears to be a unique blend of mechanics and concepts. Two teams of three will face off in 25-minute-long matches, capturing territory and destroying each other's "Lifestones" to achieve victory.
Spellcasters are playable characters representing different fantasy archetypes, each with distinct roles and abilities. Matches take place in large arenas that emphasize verticality, with every Spellcaster having the ability to fly freely around the environment.

The Last of Us is one of PlayStation's most prestigious franchises, only appearing on consoles and PC so far. But Sony apparently considered a mobile game for the post-apocalyptic series with Tencent, a new court filing reveals.
PlayStation Studios head of mobile Olivier Courtemanche provided a declaration as part of Sony Interactive Entertainment's lawsuit against Tencent. While the sworn statement revolves around Tencent and its developer Aurora Studios creating Light of Motiram, Courtemanche disclosed that his team met in China last year with those companies to discuss The Last of Us.
"I traveled with members of my team to Shenzhen, China, in July 2024 to discuss a variety of partnership opportunities with Tencent and its game studios, including Aurora Studios. With respect to Aurora Studios, we went into the meeting under the impression that they wanted to do a potential collaboration for The Last of Us," Courtemanche said in the filing.
Continue Reading at GameSpotBattlefield 6 Proves We Need To Embrace Companion Apps Again
There was once a time when having a full-blown computer in your pocket was still a fairly novel concept, and game developers, publishers, and console-makers were all too eager to find ways to work their existing products and franchises into mobile apps. Some of these were terrible, offering cheap imitations of their big siblings and often charging exorbitant prices for microtransactions, but there were also a whole bunch that took a different approach. Around the end of the Xbox 360/PS3 generation, developers often found intuitive and genuinely helpful ways to pair mobile apps with their games. No longer did they feel like cash grabs--instead, they showed how mobile devices could enhance and supplement the traditional gaming experience.
And then they started disappearing.
Much like Kinect functionality, DualShock 4 touchpad support, and motion-control spin-offs, the mobile companion app slowly went the way of the dinosaur. The catalyst for writing this piece came when I decided to load up the Battlefield Companion app. It was a great way to check statistics and fine-tune loadouts, saving time that could then be spent actually playing games like Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1. It's something I sorely miss in Battlefield 6, as taking time to change my loadout means I either need to leave matchmaking and delay the fun, or spend the first moments of a Conquest game swapping out gun parts, hoping my teammates don't hate me.

In an open letter, EA employees have publicly criticized the company's proposed $55 billion sale to an investor consortium, warning that the deal could have dire consequences for the people who make EA's games. The letter comes as EA prepares to go private under the new ownership of Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners, Silver Lake, and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, pending regulatory approval.
"EA's success has been entirely driven by tens of thousands of EA workers whose creativity, skill, and innovation made EA worth buying in the first place. Yet we, the very people who will be jeopardized as a result of this deal, were not represented at all when this buyout was negotiated or discussed," the employees posted on the United Videogame Workers union website, referencing fears that EA will undergo mass layoffs as part of its plans to finance its new debt. "We are particularly worried about the future of our studios that are arbitrarily deemed 'less profitable' but whose contributions to the video game industry define EA's reputation."
The letter also called on regulators and elected officials to heavily scrutinize the deal to ensure that jobs will be protected if it's approved. At the same time, the CWA is also preparing to organize its members if and when ownership of the company changes hands, in an effort to protect EA's employees. "As a unified voice, we, the members of the industry-wide video game workers' union UVW-CWA, are standing together and refusing to let corporate greed decide the future of our industry," the letter concluded.

Like tennis, Sony has lobbed the ball back at Tencent with a fiery shot, claiming in a new court filing that the Chinese conglomerate's defense in the two companies' ongoing legal battle over Light of Motiram is "nonsense."
As reported by The Game Post (and spotted by Eurogamer), Sony alleges in a recent court filing that Tencent is doing everything possible to avoid legal liability for Light of Motiram, a mobile game revealed in December 2024 that bears striking similarities to the Horizon franchise. While Tencent sought to have the lawsuit (which was filed in July 2025) dismissed over Sony's attempted "monopoly on genre conventions" in September 2025, Sony now claims that the damage has been done and Tencent is simply "playing a shell game."
"Tencent remarkably contends SIE's claims are unripe because--despite having announced and continuously promoted its game for months--Tencent (purportedly) delayed Light of Motiram's release until 2027 after SIE sued," Sony said. "This is nonsense. The damage is done--and it continues. Although the public expressed confusion and outrage upon discovering Light of Motiram for the knock-off that it is, Tencent remained undeterred. Tencent continued promoting its infringing game over SIE's objection, and Tencent refused to accept any responsibility over its conduct."
