Persona 3 Reload's Switch 2 Version Is Yet Another Game Key-Card Release
Persona 3 Reload Standard Edition (Switch 2)
Preorder at Amazon Preorder at Best BuyPersona 3 Reload launched on PS5, Xbox, and PC last year, and soon the remake of the beloved JRPG is making the jump to Switch 2. Persona 3 Reload launches on Switch 2 on October 23, and preorders are now live. So far, publisher Sega has announced a $60 physical standard edition and a $90 Digital Premium Edition, which includes a selection of extra DLC content. Preordering either gets you some extra in-game music tracks as a bonus.
While both Switch 2 editions appear to include identical content to the PS5, Xbox, and PC versions that launched last year, there are some notable differences to keep in mind. First, Persona 3 Reload's physical Switch 2 release is a Game Key-Card--which means it doesn't include the game data on the cartridge, and instead works as physical DRM that lets you download the digital version to your console.
The other potential difference is its technical performance. Atlus has not confirmed the Switch 2 version's performance metrics, but based on trailer footage, it appears Persona 3 Reload will run at 30fps on Nintendo's new console, whereas it runs at 60fps on all other platforms. It's possible the final release could run at higher framerates than what's been shown, but for now, it's looking like the Switch 2 version could lag behind the others. Nevertheless, those who plan to preorder Persona 3 Reload on Switch can secure their copy at multiple online retailers.

World of Warcraft players who preorder the game's new Midnight expansion will receive player housing early, leaked preorder bundles have revealed.
Following the release of WoW's 11.2 Ghosts of K'aresh update, some players (as spotted and confirmed by Wowhead) were able to view Midnight preorder bundles on the in-game shop ahead of Midnight's official reveal at Gamescom. The expansion will once again have three different versions--Base, Heroic, and Epic--and each one will grant housing early access.
As for when that early-access period will start, the bundles don't say, but Blizzard is also continuing the controversial practice of selling a three-day head start to the expansion itself for those who purchase the $90 Epic Edition of the expansion. Blizzard first offered a three-day early-access period with The War Within, WoW's current expansion.

Anthem infamously flopped upon its arrival way back in 2019, and at the start of next year, it will no longer be playable. Now, in a lengthy YouTube video, former BioWare executive producer Mark Darrah has spoken about how the game came to be, and how it got its shaky start. He explained that Mass Effect director Casey Hudson was not only pitching a new game, but a fresh vision for BioWare.
"What Casey is pitching to EA is BioWare as a new thing," Darrah said. "It’s BioWare as a new thing. It's BioWare doing storytelling but doing it in a live service, always online, brand-new business model, brand-new way of thinking about the way we tell storytelling."
According to Darrah, a lot of what Hudson initially conceived didn't really make it into the end result, but it's "why Anthem was able to generate this much momentum within the organization, because what Casey was essentially pitching was, 'What if it's a BioWare game but it could do FIFA numbers?'"

An anime adaptation of From Software's Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice has been rumored for years now, and it looks like an official reveal could be made soon.
A new web domain for "Sekiro-Anime" has been registered by Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of From Software (via Vestan on ResetEra). This was created on July 31, supporting rumors of an upcoming anime series that'll supposedly be animated by Qzil.la, a studio that has worked primarily on short projects and opening/closing credit sequences for big shows like Chainsaw Man and Hell's Paradise.
The last couple of years have seen several big video game IP adapted into anime, with noteworthy examples being Castlevania and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Ghost of Tsushima is also being adapted for anime, with this project focusing on the game's Legends co-op mode, not the main storyline. Added to the game after launch, Legends is a four-person co-op mode that introduced new warriors who banded together to battle creatures born from Japanese myths and legends.

Rumors and reports about GTA 6 coming in at $100 persist, but one analyst believes that won't happen in part because the real "cash cow" is GTA Online with its microtransactions.
Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics told Wccftech that a $100 price point for GTA 6's base edition is a bad idea for a variety of reasons, one of which pertains to GTA Online. "The real cash cow is GTA Online and its recurring revenues, so limiting GTA VI's total addressable audience at launch to make a quick buck wouldn't be smart. Let's also not forget there's a cost-of-living crisis happening globally," he said.
Elliott also mentioned that Rockstar will need to find a way to convince GTA 5 players to move from that game to GTA 6, and keeping the standard edition's price point relatively low could be part of the plan. "A higher floor for the switching cost would limit the GTA 5-to-GTA 6 player acquisition," Elliott said. "Players not budging from GTA 5 is probably one of GTA VI's biggest threats--one GTA hasn't really faced before."

As the arena experience changes for NBA fans across the country, NBA 2K26 is looking to bring that energy into every game played on its digital courts. Today, 2K and Visual Concepts announced a host of new features for NBA 2K26's presentation package, including a few of the league's most famous in-arena features--rubber chickens included.
Arena-specific features will be among the new presentation elements in this year's NBA 2K game, with LA's massive Wall for Clippers fans only and Detroit's courtside mentioned as examples. Fans in certain arenas will wear LED bracelets that will light up during key moments, while others will have foam fingers, rally towels, and even rubber chickens that they'll wave while sitting in the stands.
This year's game will add banners to the rafters for every championship your MyLeague team wins. The announcement also mentions a new shader technology for each player on the court, which will make finer elements like stitching, the embroidery of names on jerseys, and muscle definition on players more noticeable. Meanwhile, the broadcast team will add Tim Legler to the booth alongside names like Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony, and Stan Van Gundy, while newly recorded commentary specifically designed to match the intensity of a close fourth-quarter game will debut this year as well.

Xbox is going through an identity crisis. The most recent wave of layoffs at Microsoft, which cut about 9,000 jobs including numerous positions at studios under the Xbox banner, suggests as much. These cost-cutting measures are said to be in the service of some realignment or reorganization that's always purported to set up these companies for greater success. And yet they keep happening, further eroding any trust and goodwill the brand may have built up from previous successes. After several waves of job cuts, restructurings, pivots in strategy, and any other corporate jargon I've neglected to mention, I'm beginning to suspect that Xbox's growing instability deserves more scrutiny and concern from its developers and consumers alike.
Let's be direct: The journey that Xbox has been on over the last decade appears to be a failure. Its famous spree of purchases and the subsequent management of its studios has churned out about as many blemished games as it has delays, cancellations, and studio closures. That isn't to say Xbox hasn't produced hits and gems, but along the way there, Xbox has also built up quite the track record of critically panned games, cancelled projects, and defunct teams.
No matter the aspect that you place under the microscope, Xbox is clearly bleeding through the bandages it keeps applying. Take a glimpse at the stable of teams at Xbox Game Studios, Microsoft's internal publishing division. Its most recent layoff resulted in the closure of at least one team under the banner, The Initiative, and the cancellation of its game Perfect Dark. Turn 10, one of its stalwart developers on the Forza franchise, has been reportedly cut to the bone. Rare, which was working on Everwild while maintaining the live-service title Sea of Thieves, is invariably in a worse position on the other side of the layoffs than it was before.

Many have circled October 10 on their calendars as the day Battlefield 6 launches, marking a new era for EA's flagship military simulation franchise. However, it's not the only game set to release that day; a new contender has appeared on the horizon, riding like the wind to try to steal the throne. Today, Outright Games and Mattel have announced Barbie: Horse Trails, a new "open-world adventure" featuring the iconic character.
Barbie: Horse Trails will let players choose between two characters--Barbie "Brooklyn" Roberts and Barbie "Malibu" Roberts--as they ride through Canterbury Trails Park, a landscape made up of multiple open areas. Each area holds new mysteries to solve, items to collect, and quests to complete as the duo, along with park rangers, try to "refresh and beautify" the park.
Along with the main quest, multiple side missions will feature characters from the Barbie universe, including Ken, Teresa, Nikki, and Daisy. Other activities included in this new game will include a photo mode that players can use to document clues while solving mysteries, horse-care mechanics that will allow them to build their relationship with their horse, as well as customizable outfits, riding gear, and accessories.

There's no question that continuing the success of the PlayStation 5 is one of Sony's top priorities, especially given that its latest console is getting closer to five years old. The Japanese tech giant has yet to formally announce the PlayStation 6, but over the past few months there have been some developments that have allowed us some rare insight into what shape the eventual console might take.
In this post, we're rounding up everything we know about Sony's PlayStation 6, a potential new Sony handheld, and what the future of console gaming might look like. Keep checking back for more as we update this post as new information comes to light the closer we get to an eventual release date in the next few years.
Table of Contents [hide]PS6 Release Date, Potential PriceSince no formal announcement has been made for the PlayStation 6, there's no release window to speak of. Taking the company's previous console generation cadence into consideration, one could assume that a PS6 could release in 2027. That would be seven years after the PS5, which itself launched seven years after the PS3. But the gaming industry has changed dramatically since then, which is evident in how long support for the PS4 has stuck around this far into a new generation of hardware. Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida recently shared that "2028 feels right" when asked about the PS6, but notably hasn't been at Sony since the end of 2024.

Genshin Impact developer MiHoYo has announced that it'll be ending support for the game on PS4 this year, and it'll be completely shut down in 2026 on that platform. Citing "limitations related to hardware performance" as one of the reasons for discontinuing the game, MiHoYo added that the requirements for the mobile versions of the game will also necessitate increased power on iOS and Android devices.
"Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4 in future versions," the studio explained in a blog post. The PS4 version of Genshin Impact will be removed from the PlayStation Network on September 10, but if you'd previously downloaded the game, you'll still be able to re-download it.
Starting February 25, 2026, all in-game purchases for the PS4 edition will be removed from the PlayStation Store, and all update support for Genshin Impact will end on April 8, 2026. This will result in players no longer being able to log in to the game on PS4. MiHoYo says it will start reminding players of this change later this year. As for the mobile versions of Genshin Impact, MiHoYo says those devices will need to meet these updated requirements:

The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 Bundle (4K)
See at AmazonWith a new Spider-Man film currently in production, now is a great time to catch up on the older movies starring everyone's favorite web-slinger. Over at Amazon, you can get a new 4K bundle of the two Amazing Spider-Man movies that starred Andrew Garfield as the iconic hero for just $29.49 (was $50). This is now in stock, and it comes with digital streaming codes for each film as well.
The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 Bundle (4K) $29.49 (was $50)Following the release of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 in 2007, the superhero franchise went into hibernation for a few years. The hiatus ended with the release of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, and it was followed by a sequel in 2014. The native 4K (2160p) resolution for the Spidey movies are top-notch, and for audio, the discs offer Dolby Atmos support that works really well through a surround system.
The only catch here is that you won't get much in terms of bonus materials. There is a cast-and-crew photo tab option on both discs and "categorized" moments you can skip to, but otherwise, you'll need to grab the standard Blu-ray releases of these Spider-Man movies to access special features.
Overall, these Spider-Man movies are okay at best, but they don't reach the same groundbreaking heights as the Sam Raimi trilogy starring Tobey Maguire or the recent Spidey flicks with Tom Holland under the mask, which is strengthened by its MCU connections. The Amazing Spider-Man is a passable retelling of Peter Parker's origin story with some baffling deviations from the established story, while The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an overstuffed attempt at setting up a Sinister Six movie.
See at AmazonWhat the movies did have going for them was Garfield's portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, plus an amazing supporting cast that featured Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, and several other great actors.
